ALONE IN THE WORLD BUT TOGETHER WITH YOU

 

 

Chapter 1: I'm back!

 

Kagome woke up from her dream. She turned off her alarm clock and got out of bed. Then she took a shower, got dressed and went downstairs. She was wearing a pair of loose (but not to baggy) jeans, a white t-shirt with a picture of a girl with one foot on a boy's head and it said: “sometimes you just have to put your foot down”, and black and red sneakers. When she got downstairs, she saw the kind smile of her mother, and the fake smile of her twin sister Kikyou. She had come to live with them here in the family's shrine at the beginning of summer because of her father's death. It had been ten years since she lived here last. Until now, she had lived in LA, California. Her father was rich, and he left most of his money to her. Today was the first day of school after summer break. She had heard that Kikyou was the most popular girl in school. For as long as she had known her, Kikyou seemed to think that she ruled the world. And you could tell because of what she was wearing, that she was: a cheerleader-slash-a popular girl-slash-a preppy girl. She was wearing a pink tank-top with a white ribbon around her waist, a short denim miniskirt with her initials in rhinestones on the side, and pink and white sneakers. Kikyou was also wearing a pink, heart-shaped necklace with matching earrings. Kikyou's hair was up in a tight bun with sparkly pink clips. Her hair was is a low, but decent, ponytail. She sat down at the opposite side of the table, as far away from Kikyou as she could.

 

She ate her breakfast, got her stuff, gave her mom a quick goodbye kiss, and went out to her car. It was a pinkish red mustang from when she was her age. On her way to school, she picked up her old childhood friends Sango and Ayame. They already knew that she was back in town, and were completing their life long dream of starting a band together. Their band was called “The Sacred Arrow”. All they talked about on the way to school was their band and when their next rehearsal was. “Our next rehearsal is today after school.” Kagome said.

 

When they got to school and got out of the car, they noticed that Sango became red with anger. A few yards away, was the lecherous, Monk-in-training, baseball player Miroku Houshi. Sango marched up to him in anger and dragged him away from the foreign exchange student from France. When they were back with the group, he decided to “cheer her up” by putting his hand on her bottom. He knew that Sango hated this, but couldn't help himself. Two seconds later, as Ayame and Kagome had their backs turned, they heard a loud SLAP from behind them. They turned around. Miroku had a glowing red handprint on his right cheek. All Kagome could do was shake her head. But suddenly she froze when she heard a low, charming voice call out her name.

 

`Oh no! Kouga! I thought I told him that I didn't like him like the way he likes me! I mean, COME ON! He said that he loves me and now he goes around telling everyone that I'm his woman!'

 

She thought. And before he could say or do anything else, she said, “Sorry, got to go! See you at practice girls!” she said as she left, sighing in relief.

Instead of walking into the music room, she went straight to home room. Her assigned seat was second to last on the right of the back left hand corner. On her left was one empty seat and the rest on the right and in front of her were too.

 

About 5 minutes after she sat down, her friends Ayame and Sango entered. Sango sat in her seat that was next to Kagome on her right and Ayame on her left. But that was a certain bad-mannered, temperamental, silver haired, dog-eared boyfriend of Kikyou's seat.

 

When he saw Ayame sitting in his seat he got irritated. “Oi, wolf girl, get out of my seat!” he told her. She huffed and went to sit in her assigned seat next to Sango. Kagome was surprised when he turned sat down next to her and started to talk to her as if she was Kikyou. “So, are you ready for our date tonight?” he asked about 15 minutes later. “Excuse me?!” she said.

 

`Who is he?! I don't even know him! He's talking to me as if I'm Kik- wait a sec! He's Kikyou's boyfriend that I saw her make out with under the bleachers at orientation!'

 

she thought but was ripped from her train of thought when he caught her looking into his deep, amber eyes and replied, “you heard me wench, now, are you ready or not?!” she started to boil with anger. While she was thinking, she had also figured out who he was. “No! I'm not ready!” she yelled as she stood up and grabbed her things. Her and her friends could clearly see that she scared him. “I can't believe, after all this time… YOU THINK I'M KIKYOU!!! Well here's some news for you “buddy”! I'M NOT!!!” she yelled. Then she went over to the teacher and asked her if she could go ahead to her locker and then the music room. Mr. Hakka (the teacher) nodded his head and gave her a schedule, a locker number with a combination, and signed her pass to the music room. After she had left, the teacher started to pass out everyone else's schedule too. He just sat there. Not knowing what to do. At 09:00 the bell rang signaling first period. When he was about to stand up, Ayame decided to speak. “Good job Inu, you just pissed off Kagome Higurashi!” and with that, she left. “Kagome Higura-. Wait a sec! that means she's….” he said but was cut off by Sango saying “Kikyou's sister? Yeah, but you shouldn't have treated her that way considering that you two were best friends ten years ago!” and with that, she left as well.

 

`Kagome's back? How come I couldn't see that it was her? She really is Kikyou's identical twin. But there's something special about her… something sweeter, kinder, and big hearted about her. Maybe I should apologize to her for thinking she was Kikyou… I men, we could become best friends again… I have to find her. WHERE'S MY SCHEDULE?!'
