The wind blew through the leaves of the Goshinboku tickling his senses and teasing him with the fragrent kiss of her. She slept peacefully too far away, safe in the villiage. He wanted to be there with her, wanted to be next to her, but he was here, in the god tree alone, always alone. What did he have to give her? Nothing. He would never have enough to offer her. A dirty Hanyou. He was tainted, she was pure. She was everything in the world that was good and true, and he clashed with that in a violently dangerous way. He wanted to give her the moon, and if he thought that she would accept it, he would gladly navigate the stars and find a way to bring it to her. He knew though, that in the cold truth of reality, Kagome would accept nothing but the truth of his heart, and that was the one thing that he would not give her. The one thing that he had that was untouched by his youkai blood. The love he held deep in is heart for the strange girl from the future, who had the power to heal him with a smile, or a tear.


The wind slowed and seemed to die, creating a creaking in the branches of his tree as they slowly melded back to thier former still positions before the wind had demanded that they dance. His amber eyes filled with unshed tears of hatred. The human side of him wished to let them fall, but the youkai part denied him relief. Taunted him, dared him to show a weakness. She would be awake soon, and she would hop into the bone eaters well, and the forest would be empty again. Empty of her laugh, of her calming and endearing manner. He would spend the nights that she was away in much the same way that he had spent this one. Sitting alone in the God Tree, alone, always alone.
