Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, if I did, Kikyo wouldn't exist, and Inuyasha and Kagome would be together.
Kagome woke with a start. “What… what just happened?” She looked over and saw Sota. “It was just a bad dream… a really bad dream.”
Sota turned over but didn't wake. That was the worst dream I ever had! Kagome thought.
She dreamt that she was running through woods. She knew she had never been there before but the place seemed so familiar. Like I've been there…There was someone chasing her. She didn't know whom; she couldn't see him, but she could hear his evil laugh. No matter what, she knew she couldn't stop running. Then she tripped over a branch, and her head fell bye a young girl that couldn't be older than seven or eight. The girl was dead. After that she just woke up.
Kagome looked at the clock by her bed. Only 4:50? It felt like it should have been a little later. Well they did fall asleep at eight last night. She felt awake enough to get out of bed. Her cell phone started ringing. Who could be calling at five in the morning? She answered her phone. “Hello?”
“Kagome?”
“Oh hi Mom.”
“I thought you said you were going to call,” her mom said. “Let me talk to Sota.”
“He's asleep. It's 5:00 AM over here.”
“Oh! I'm sorry! Did I wake you?”
“No, I've been awake for about three minutes. Later today I have to go find the building I'll be working in. I don't have to for a few more hours. Sota will be up by then.”
“I'll be in bed by then,” her mom said.
“Call right before you go to bed then.”
“OK.”
“'K bye.” Kagome turned the phone off and so did Mrs. Higurashi.
Kagome went into the bathroom. It was nice too; white marble floors, white wall, and a large mirror with lights above it and a large shower and bath. The towels and wash clothes were white as well.
Twenty-five minutes later she got out of the shower. She was wrapped in the large towel when she went out of the bathroom. Sota was awake when she got. “Sis you mind getting dressed before you get out of the bathroom?”
“Sorry, I forgot to get my clothes before I went in.”
Her phone rang. “Get that Sota. It's probably Mom.”
“Okee dokee.” He picked up the phone. “Hey-lo?”
“Sota?” Mrs. Higurashi asked.
“Yeah. Hey Mom! Is it quieter without me? I bet it is! Huh? Huh? Is it? Is it?” he annoyed.
She laughed. “Yes. But I miss your loud video games already.”
How's Buyo? Still fat? He better be! Don't starve my poor kitty! Feed him at least four times a day,” Sota instructed.
“Sota you haven't been gone long enough for him to get skinny. Don't worry though, I love our fat cat.”
Kagome came out of the bathroom. “Let me talk to Mom, twerp.” Sota handed Kagome the phone. “Howdy Mom.”
“Hi Kagome. What are you and Sota gonna do today?” she asked.
“Well we are gonna find that building I'll be working in for the next two months. After that, I don't know.”
Kagome heard someone yelling in the background. “AH! DEMONS! GET THEM AWAY!”
“Gramps havin' another bad dream?” Kagome asked.
“Yeah.”
“I'll let you go then. Tell Gramps I love him.”
“I love him too! Tell him I love him!” Sota shouted.
“Will do, Sota.”
Click.
“Go get a shower. We are leavin' in an hour to look for that building.”
“OK.” Sota got his clothes and went into the bathroom. He came out a few minutes later in a pair of khakis and a button up white shirt. “Ready?”
“Not quite. I still have to put on my make up.”
“Gosh! What is it with you and make up? Ever since you were ten years old you would wear make up!”
“Well sorry I don't like my outer appearance!” Kagome said.
“I don't know why not. That neighbor boy likes you just fine.” Sota nudged Kagome in the side with his elbow. “You know that Bobo guy.”
“His name was Hojo not Bobo. And he didn't like me like that… he was a friend… just a friend. He cared for me when I was sick one time and you and Gramps both were like `Oh he likes you!' and you know he didn't!” Kagome argued.
“Well looks like he forgot to tell you he didn't `cause he told my friend Fudo's brother Jido that he likes you!”
“Stop makin' up foolish stories Sota. I know that Fudo don't have a brother named Jido,” Kagome informed her younger brother.
“Yes he does! Fudo's mom married Jido's dad two years ago and you haven't seen Fudo since then!” Sota said matter-of-factly.
“Well I didn't know that little tid-bit of info.”
“Now you do! And now you know that Hojo likes you! HA! I told you!”
“Just because Fudo does have a brother don't mean that Hojo liked me,” Kagome pointed out.
“What ever.”
“You sound like a girl when you do that!” Kagome laughed.
“I sound like you!”
In the time they were arguing about Fudo having a brother and Hojo liking Kagome, she had put on her make up.
“C'mon.” Kagome gestured for the door.
“OK.”
-1-1-1-
“We have arrived,” Kagome said to her brother. She about called him `little dude' but decided not to.
“Yeah, I think I know that,” Sota said flatly.
“Don't be like that.”
“Yeah OK let's just get in there,” Sota said, getting out of the car.
“You are such a little brat!” Kagome got out of the car.
They went inside the huge building. The windows were like two-way mirrors; you could see through the inside but not the outside. The floor was made of white floor tile and the walls were white. There was a large desk with one person behind it. “Hello, how may I help you miss?” she asked.
Kagome looked at Sota. “At least she didn't call me `ma'am',” Kagome mumbled to her brother. “Oh, yes you can. Where can I find Miroku Tashi?” Kagome asked. “A/N: I couldn't think of any Japanese last names so I made one up and I seriously doubt that it is Japanese but they are supposed to be in America.)
“Oh so are you Kagome Higurashi?” the woman asked.
“Yes I am.”
“You speak fluent English for someone from Japan,” the woman pointed out.
“A lot of us do,” Kagome said sweetly even though she felt like ripping the woman's throat out for being so stupid.
“Oh I see. Floor twelve. Your child can't go up there with you Mrs. Higurashi.”
Kagome blinked twice and turned to the bitchy woman. She looked at her nametag `Kikyo'. “He isn't my son, he is my fourteen-year-old brother, and I am not married. It is just Miss Higurashi if you must insist on calling me that.”
“Well he still can't go there with you Miss Higurashi. We have a children's play area on floor two for him,” she said in a bitchy tone.
“Maybe you didn't hear me, he is fourteen he don't need to be in a `children's play area'. He is able to come up there with me.” Kagome smiled her fake, yet believable, fake smile. “Thanks.”
They got on to the elevator and Sota pushed the button. “WOW! Sis did you see her face when you did that? She looked like something crawled up her ass and died! You are so kick-ass!”
“Sota don't cuss,” she said coolly like she had no intention of punishing him at all.
“That's it? No yellin' for me cussin'? Wow! You are so much cooler when you are in kick-a—” Sota decided not to cuss because he figured Kagome would punish him this time. “but!”
The elevator stopped then let them out. Miroku greeted them. “Hello Miss. Higurashi. It is `miss' isn't it?”
“Yes it is `miss'. You must be Miroku Tashi.” She stuck her hand out for him to shake it. He took her hand. “This is my younger brother Sota Higurashi.”
Sota shook his hand. “Hi.”
“We will be starting when Sango Yuko gets here,” Miroku instructed. “Until then, we can go out to get something to eat. I haven't eaten all day.”
“Yeah,” Kagome agreed, “neither have we.”
They got into the elevator and went down to the first floor. Kikyo got out from behind the desk and ran over to Miroku, Kagome, and Sota. “Mr. Tashi I tried to stop her from bring the boy up there but she wouldn't listen,” Kikyo sucked up.
“It's OK Kikyo. He isn't a disturbance or anything like that. If he were five or something then I would mind. Sota looks about fourteen; that is plenty old enough to come up with his sister and not cause problems.”
Kikyo looked at Kagome and mumbled something close to “bitch” then looked at Miroku. “OK sir.”
The three went outside of the building. “I'll get a cab,” Miroku said.
“We can take my car,” Kagome said then pointed to her rental.
“OK,” Miroku agreed.
Sota stepped out in front of a car and when he saw it, it was too late.
I'm gonna stop there because I'm evil and I have typed almost six pages. I will try my hardest to update tomorrow. I won't be able to update on August second because my best friend is having party. I will not be in Ohio August fifth through August fourteenth because I will be in Missouri with Mike, Anna, and Dee. That means I won't be able to update then either.
