InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Among the Dead ❯ Petals of Blood ( Chapter 1 )
Chap 1
The `thing' was white, thought Kagome Higurashi, really pale in coloration, with pale bluish lips and life-less dull eyes. It was actually a vampire, with really good fighting skills, Kagome thought distractingly trying to place a kick in the vampire's abdomen. She missed. Shimatta! She cursed under her breath. These things were multiplying. They were like rats. Filthy, dirty, disgusting, she placed another kick, vomitrocious.
They was an endless list to describe them and other not so pleasant words. I hate this world. It was another sour thought
Azure eyes flashed violently as she placed a figure tip to the peak of her bow, bringing it out swiftly, Almost instantly the sharp object she wielded glowed a light blue, pale like the vampire's lips. It wavered in the air as she tried to get a clear shot. She was good but not too good. She still, needed practice a little bit, ok a lot. She let it fly and the arrow to wavered, unsure of its target, that moment passed and it hit the target not quite in the middle but enough to turn the vampire into thin-gray dust.
A sigh of relief, and easiness escaped her lips as she fell on the ground a bundled heap. These gangs were getting stronger and more. But the multiplying was slowing down because the vampire leaders were finding out that they were too many vampires and too many vamps meant too many bloodsucking and other people turning into vampires so the people were killed first.
In the sickening ways that she had seen.
There heads embodied from there necks…Stabbed and also beaten while they were dead. The thing that bothered Kagome most was that some of the humans were with the vampires. They had formed some kind of union and the humans promised the vampires blood if they let them live. But what was there to live for?
These people were selfish, almost just as bad as the blood-sucking beasts.
She groaned cupping her head in her hands. Her ebony hair a veiled curtain from the world. She got up hesitantly. Why had she done this anyways? Taken this stupid job. There was nothing gratifying in it. Not even the pleasure of killing a vampire, well re-killing...Uh! She didn't know.
Softly, quietly, hesitantly the sun's rays reached the peak of the horizon. She looked up. She'd been out that long. Her mother and brother must have been worried. She hoped they were all right. Nobody was safe in the world anymore, not even with double locked doors.
This time she headed home. Footsteps a light tap against the cracked up cement. The world used to be so beautiful and every time you saw the emerald meadows you couldn't help but beam, But now those were gone to and replaced by blonde weary blades that could be easy to pull out and uncomfortable to lay on. They weren't many animals either. The vamps fed on them too. The animals were innocents, like many other people
She reached the door of her house and opened it hesitantly. It was dark. That wasn't good. That wasn't a good sign. She knew they didn't have electricity but her mother usually had candles lying about the place. They were scented too. To calm the house in these suffering times. Her mother was so sweet.
What bought her out of her reverie was a whimpering sound coming from the upper-left bedroom. Silently she crept up the stairs and stopped dead as she saw the outlined figure of her mother. Her head was cocked loosely to the side and they were to bite marks. She was still breathing.
"Okaa...Okaa-San" She whispered. Her mother didn't answer. She feared that the lady was trotting in the meadows of a darkened abyss. The first stage...to...To
"Kill me." The voice was hoarse
She had to strain slightly to hear the voice. What her momma was breathing but those two words made her sad, made her really sad, sad enough to cry. But she couldn't cry now. She had a task to do. She retreated to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Sharp and silver. It was smeared with blood.
Her vow forgotten a tear fell from her eye then another. She had to kill her own dame, her mother, her flesh and blood. The tears had stopped coming now. With practiced demeanor she swiftly walked back up the steps. She reached the hunched-up form of her mother who now had her eyes fully open breathing rapidly.
"I'm sorry Okaa-san" She whispered in a broken voice as she drove the knife into her mother's body, again and again and a…again. She stopped then;
The sobs were coming now in tidal waves. Her mom was gone, gone forever and she was the cause of her death, no those vampire's were, they bit her. She had no more family…Oh no! That last thought jolted her back into the real world, reality, she had her brother
She just hoped that he wouldn't suffer the same fate as their mother. She really did hope, hope with all her heart...
With hurried steps she searched the house and ended up in the same place. She stood out of the room were...She had destroyed her mother. There was one room she hadn't checked and that room was the basement. This time she didn't walk she ran. Tension was mounting and she was anxious.
