A/N: yes, another parody of “InuYasha” but, well this is different from my last one. Much better.

The Alternate Beginning

Prologue: Attack

Flames roared around the village, the villager's screams rising through the smoke and stirring birds from their nests. A black haired woman walked out of a lone hut with a pink jewel in her hand. “At last, I have what I need to become eternally beautiful!” she told herself as she made her way through the forest.

A stirring in the brush behind her caused her to jump. “Tsubaki!” someone snapped. She turned around and around one arm appeared a snake-like creature; Shikigami. And she saw her younger sister, and fellow miko, Kikyou.

“You stole the jewel,” she said steadily.

“So?” Tsubaki retorted smugly, the Shikigami launching at the younger, but with one swift motion of her bow the thing was reeled back into Tsubaki's face, going straight into her eye. “AH! You bitch!”

The jewel rolled out of her hand as she held her eye. She was about to attack again in defense but thought better of it and walked away, still in pain. With Tsubaki's back turned Kikyou fell to her knees.

The blood dripping down her shoulder, she raised a hand to stop it. Grimacing in pain a small crowd of villagers gathered. “Kikyou-onee-sama! You're hurt!” a small black-haired girl cried running up, shifting a bandage over one eye.

“Take this…burn it with my body…” she told the girl, setting the jewel in her hand. “Do it Kaede! I wont live!”

The girl nodded, and finally giving into the pain Kikyou fell to the ground. “Onee-sama!” Kaede cried falling to her knees. “Where did Tsubaki-onee-sama go?” she asked weakly.

Not far away, at the base of the Goshinboku, Tsubaki was to sit, asleep, for 50 long years. Until the reincarnation of Kikyou, with the Shikon no Tama in tow returned and freed her from the demonic seal.

…And that's where this little fairytale went very, very wrong.
