An Inu Yasha Song Fic

::Written on August First at 12:45 am. Note: This will be posted about a week after I write it. Oh, and this is my first song fic that I have ever written. One last thing, I apologize if some of the song is not correct.::

Disclaimer: I do not own Inu Yasha or Ocean Avenue. Inu Yasha is own by Rumiko Takahashi while the song Ocean Avenue is owned by Yellowcard. So, don't sue me. I got nothing anyways.

There's a place off Ocean Avenue

Where I used to sit and talk with you

We were both sixteen and it felt so right

Sleeping all day, staying up all night

Inuyasha sat down on the shore of a beach looking up at the night sky thinking about something. That something being Kagome Higurashi. He remembered everything that happened ever since he met her. Inuyasha remembered when he mistook Kagome as Kikyou and how she freed him from the God Tree.

There's a place on the corner of Cherry Street

We would walk on the beach in our bare feet

We were both eighteen and it felt so right

Sleeping all days, staying up all night

Ever since Inuyasha met Kagome, his heart began to soften and he began to trust more people. Before then he only trusted Kikyou and that trust was easily broken by Naraku. He liked being with Kagome. With her, he felt at peace with himself. She didn't care if he was only a hanyou, only if he treated her kindly which at times was hard to do. He was used to covering his emotions. He grew up as a hanyou meaning that nigens and youkai hated him. But he had ruined it all by telling her that he was going to collect the rest of the jewel shards by his self and he didn't need her or the others.

A day had already passed by and Inuyasha was beginning to feel the effects of being alone once again. Kagome had taken what Inuyasha told her hard. She had begun to cry and she disappeared down the well. It was one of the few times Inuyasha saw Kagome cry because of him. Thinking back on that Inuyasha felt down. He told Kagome those things so she wouldn't be with him anymore. It wasn't because he didn't want her with him, it was because she couldn't be with him. If she was to continue being with him, he would be risking her life with all the dangers they face everyday. He couldn't risk her life along with the others. He just couldn't, no matter how much he hurt Kagome and himself.

There's a piece of you that's here with me

It's everywhere I go it's everything I see

When I sleep I dream and it gets me by

I can make believe that you're here tonight

Inuyasha reached into his haori and brought out the shards he kept with him. He had been in such a rush that he forgot to get the other shards from Kagome. Now he knew that he would have to see her again just like the last time. Inuyasha didn't know if he would be able to handle it. No matter what he did or where he goes, Inuyasha knew that every time he sees a Shikon shard he would be reminded of Kagome. No matter what he did, Kagome stayed in his mind and wouldn't go away.

Inuyasha clutched the jewel shards to his chest as images of Kagome came before his eyes. Kagome had always been more concerned with everyone else, never thinking of herself. He didn't deserve to have Kagome with him. Inuyasha closed his eyes and sighed. He would never admit it to anyone else but he was beginning to miss Kagome. It was like she completed him. He needed her.

I remember the look in your eyes

When I told you that this was good bye

You were begging me not tonight not here not now

We're looking up at the same night sky

We keep pretending that the sun will not rise

We'll be together for one more night

Somewhere, somehow

"Kagome, I miss you." Inuyasha quietly said to himself still clutching the jewel shards to his chest. The ears of the top of his head began to twitch as someone approached him. Inuyasha slowly opened his eyes to see Kagome staring down at him while she stood at his side. Her eyes were filled with tears but she was wearing a smile not a frown like Inuyasha thought she would. "Kagome?" Kagome let out a sigh then tackled Inuyasha to the ground as she embraced him and crying into his chest.

"Inuyasha, I love you!" Kagome cried then looked up at him for his reaction. Inuyasha was surprised by Kagome's outburst but he was actually happy as well. He smiled at her then captured her lips with his own. When he pulled away he was still smiling. "I love you too, Kagome. I want to spend the rest of my rest with you. I'm sorry if what I said hurt you." What Inuyasha told her surprised her. She would have never guessed that Inuyasha would actually say things like that. Kagome smiled back at him. "It's okay. You'll have years to make it up."
