The next morning, Kitsune woke up yawning. She sat up and looked around at the surroundings in the mist of the morning. The fire was just coals, covered with ash and it wasn't putting out anymore heat. She found some sticks and built up the fire again.

She saw that Miroku was up as well. " Morning" he said. " I'm the one stuck on watch this morning." he explained. Kitsune nodded. She continued to poke the fire. " How about you and I chat until the others wake up?" he offered.

" Sure." she said. " what about?" She asked. He shrugged. " Its interesting to hear what Sesshoumaru did. " he said. " Inuyasha told me he was here last night. Do you think he'll return for you?" he asked.

" I doubt it." She said. " But then again, he'd get something he wanted from the deal." she said. " I said I'd watch Rin if he helped me defeat Naraku." she told him.

" Inuyasha wont like that. He wants to Kill Naraku himself. Mainly because of what he did to him and Kikyo." said Miroku.

" I really wish you wouldn't talk about me like I wasn't here." Inuyasha said his eyes closed, him still leaning against a rock. " I can hear everything you're saying." he huffed and opened his eyes to glare at them.

" Well you don't have to eavesdrop you know." she said back to him, glaring right back. He looked away and harumphed.

" Kind of hard not to, when I"m sitting right here." He sideglanced her. " and someone's loud mouth going."

" I know you don't like me.." she said. " Because I have accociated with your unliked half brother, but you don't have to be rude." she said.

" Rude is normal for him. He doesn't know anyother way to be." Shippo piped up. He yawned. " Morning." he said rubbing his eyes. Of course, since he stirred Kagome who was sleeping next to her woke up.

" Whats going on? And this early too?" she asked. " Inuyasha can't you at least wait a couple hours before you get hostile?" she asked. Inuyasha ignored Kagome. He got up and walked away. " I guess thats a no." she sighed.

Kitsune watched Inuyasha walk off. Sango who was the last to wake, saw him leaving. " Where is he going?" she asked.

" To sulk" Kitsune said. " Is he always like this?" she asked. Everyone nodded. " How do you put up with it?" she asked.

Kagome grinned. " I can " sit " him" she said. Kitsune looked at her confused.

" Sit him? what does that mean?" she asked.

" watch this." she said. " HEY INUYASHA!" she called out loudly. Inuyasha came storming back.

" what do you want wench?" he asked angrily. " Leave me alone."

" Inuyasha!" she started.

" Oh shit." he muttered.

" SIT BOY!" she said and Inuyasha kissed the ground.

" Wow...thats a nice trick...I never noticed, but those are beads of subgegation around his neck huh." she asked.

Kagome nodded. " Kaede put them on him when I first met him." she said.

" who is Kaede." Kitsune asked.

" Oh...well....I guess she'd be your younger sister." She said.

Kitsune's jaw dropped almost to the ground. " My sister?" she said. " The only sister I have was Kikyo, and I heard she was killed 50 years ago." she said.

" Er...about that." Kagome said " A witch by the name of Urasue resurrected Kikyo, with part of my soul." she said. " She roams this earth still, but I wouldn't go seeking her out." Kagome warned. "According to Inuyasha, she doesn't act the way she did when she was alive."

" Uh, ok but that still doesn't explain Kaede." Kitsune pointed out.

" She must have been born after you left home." Kagome said pondering a moment. " Thats why you don't know about her." She shrugged. " Anyway I need to start breakfast." she said and went to go do just that.

" So, Inuyasha." she said. He looked at her with a scowl on his face. " You knew my sister?" she asked.

He huffed. " Obviously." he snorted and looked away.

" Again, must have happened after I left." She said. " Because I would have rememeberd you."

" When I knew her, Kaede was a small girl...she never mentioned you at all." he said.

" She really must have hated that I left home. SO much that she pretty much disowned me, and never mentioned me at all." she said sadly. " At times I wonder what would have happened if I'd of stayed there. I'd probably have died of old age by now." she mused.

" Why did you leave in the first place?" Sango asked.

" She was the better Miko." said Kitsune. " I could heal with powers and but up barriers, but that was about it. I couldn't purify shit." she sighed. " Kikyo could, and she was good at archery. Again, I wasn't. God knows I've tried though. Many times I stayed over the lessons to do more, while Kikyo had to spend time alone." Kitsune frowned. " I couldn't spend as much time with her as I wanted growing up. I was always doing lessons, or practicing archery. She was a natural."

" So you left...." Miroku started

" So she'd be the next in line." Kitsune finished. " The job always goes to the eldest, me being such ment even though I had less skills then Kikyo, I was the next to guard the Shikon no Tama. I ran from home, so they'd have no choice in choosing Kikyo to be the next Miko."

Miroku nodded, understanding. " I see why you did what you did." he said.

" But if I had stayed, would Kikyo still have been alive?" Kitsune asked. " I know I'd of never met Ryukiba, or have Ryu, but I wonder what my life would have been if I had stayed."

" Of course, many wish they knew what would have happened." Miroku said." I'm sure my grandfather when he was alive had the same thought when he was seduced by Naraku in the form of a woman and received the Wind Tunnel." he said. " But we can't go back to before, only look ahead and live the lives we chose for ourselves. Its the only way."

Kitsune just nodded slowly.
