Inuyasha is about to reveal something to Kagome when Naraku attacks. Naraku is really powerful and brings up bad memories for our hero's.

Kagome couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"W-what do you mean Inuyasha?" Kagome stuttered as she looked at Inuyasha's solemn face. His features softened when he looked deeply into her eyes.
"I finally realized something. I don't know how or why, but I realized I don't love Kikyo." Inuyasha said as he quickly looked away.
*What in the world made him say that? More importantly...does that mean he loves me?* Kagome thought to afraid to push her luck and voice her opinions. Kagome brought herself close to Inuyasha's chest as she began to apply the bandages to him. She blushed as she felt the his hot breath from him breathing fall upon her exposed neck. She looked up at him to see that he was starring at her with deep intent in his eyes.
"Inuyasha..."Kagome said in a questioning voice.
"Kagome...there's something I need to tell you." Inuyasha said. His face was solemn from worry. His normal complexion began to brighten as he tried to say what was on his mind. "Kagome I-"
"INUYASHA!" Miroku yelled cutting into Inuyasha's words. Inuyasha and Kagome starred at where everyone standing. There in front of them was Naraku! He was still wearing his baboon cloak but his demonic aura was too poweful for one of his puppets.
"Kagome, stay here okay." Inuyasha said as he leaped next to Azrael.
*Inuyahsa...what were you about to say. Wait, why doesn't Naraku have but only two jewel shards?* Kagome thought.
"Naraku!" Inuyasha yelled! "It's about time you showed your face. Now it's time for me to finish you off once and for all!"
"Stupid Dog. Do you really believe you posses enough power to defeat me?" Naraku said. With out a moments notice he launched demonic energy at Inuyasha who quickly leaped over it. A sacred arrow flew from under him fired by Kikyo. The arrow was once again caught by Naraku.
"I already told you Kikyo. Your pathetic arrows won't work on me anymore." With a quick flick of his wrist he launched the arrow back at Kikyo which Sango blocked with her Hiraikotsu.
"Let's get rid of this bastard!" Azrael said with burning hatred riddled in his voice. He launched himself at Naraku with such speed that it even seemed to surprise Naraku himself.
"Your fast for a mere human. Too bad your not fast enough." Naraku's demonic tentacle launched itself from out of his cloak and sent Azrael flying into several trees. His body connecting with a sickening 'thud'. One of the tree's collapsed upon itself from the sheer force of the impact.
"Azrael!" Inuyasha said. "Kagome go check to make sure he's okay."
"Way ahead of you." Kagome said as she ran to the spot where Azrael landed only to find it empty. "W-what's going on here."
"Wind Scar!" Inuyasha yelled as he let the fierce vortex rip from his Tetsuiaga. The vortex connected with Naraku decimating his body.
"It can't be that easy." Miroku said. Preparing his right hand incase he needed to use his Wind Tunnel. Sango stood behind him with her Hiraikotsu in her arm and Kirara behind her.
The smoke cleared and there was no trace of Naraku anywhere.
"Be careful he's around here somewhere. I can still sense his pressence." Kikyo said, for the first time since they encountered her she actually sounded like she cared about their wellbeing.
Inuyasha looked at Kagome across the distance. She was still looking for Azrael's body. Shippo now joined to help her.
*Why did I tell her those things? What on earth compelled me to open up to her like that? Was I really about to tell her what I think I was?* These among with hundreds other's floated through his head at lightning speed.
"Inuyasha watch out!" Sango cried as Inuyasha looked up to see a powerful demonic energy attack not two feet infront of his face. Inuyasha didn't have time to react but was getting ready for the impact, but it never came. Inuyasha looked up to see Azrael blocking the attack with his sword. Azrael was sliding across the earth as he slashed the energy attack in half.
"Wake up Inuyasha. Stop daydreaming about her and pay attention." Azrael said, instantly guessing what was preoccupying Inuyasha's mind.
"What are you talking about?" Inuyasha said gruffly. He suddenly lunged at Azrael's shoulder.
"Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!" Inuyasha yelled as he sliced one of Naraku's tentacles in half. "Now who's the one who's daydreaming."
Azrael didn't reply as he and Inuyasha turned their attention towards the forrest where the tentacle came from. Suddenly Sango's Hiraikotsu ripped through the forest decimating most of the tree's in there way and evidently hitting her target as Naraku cursed as it connected.
"There he is!" Miroku exclaimed as they all headed towards him. Kikyo stayed back sensing that she wouldn't be much help until she could figure out why her sacred arrows weren't working.
"No escape now Naraku!" Inuyasha exclaimed haughtily.
"Fool, who said I was trying to escape." Naraku said with a smirk. Suddenly he raised his hand and started talking in low muffled sentences.
"What's he saying?" Miroku asked. His question was quickly answered as rune symbols appeared out of no where and attached themselves to Sango's, Miroku's, Inuyasha's, and Azrael's foreheads and they screamed in agony. Kagome, Shippo, Kikyo, and Kirara ran in just as this was happening.
"What's going on? What's happening to them?" Shippo questioned, his voice full of fear.
"I-I don't know. Naraku hasn't done this before." Kagome exclaimed.
"It look's he's using a rare form of sorcery. He's extracting memories from them." Kikyo exclaimed. "And without our sacred arrow's we're useless."
"Kirara go help them!" Kagome exclaimed. *Inuyasha please be safe!*
Kirara quickly launched herself at Naraku. Her claws came dangerously close to Naraku who dodged to avoid her. When his consentration was broken the symbols disappeared and the hero's collapsed weakly to the ground.
"Inuyasha are you okay?" Kagome asked as she ran towards him.
"Stay back Kagome!" Inuyasha ordered as he weakly stood back up. *I don't know what's going on but somehow Naraku's increased his power's tenfold.*
"What happened?" Sango asked as she too weakly stood up with Kirara's help.
"I think Naraku tried to gain our memories." Miroku said. "He wasn't successful though. He was only able to catch a few glimpses."
"True monk. But those 'glimpses' were more than enough." Naraku said. " Watch now as your worst fears come to life!"
Suddenly the ground beneath Inuyasha's, Sango's, Miroku's, and Azrael's feet opened up. Bodies rose from the earth. They weren't demonic but were humans.
"What's this Naraku. Using human's in your evil doing now." Inuyasha said ingnoring the form in front of him.
"You don't know the half of it." Naraku said. "Take a close look."
At this Inuyasha looked at person who was now coming towards him with the intention of killing him.
"Mom!" Inuyasha exclaimed as the body of his mother came towards him and tried to attack him. Inuyasha quickly looked around. Sango was confronted by a man in similiar armor as her's which Inuyasha guessed was her father. Miroku was too faced by who Inuyasha could only assume was his grandfather. Azrael had two people in front of him. One was a little girl around 12 years of age with black hair and beautiful blue eyes.. The other was a beautiful young maiden with silky black hair that seemed to radiate in the sun, her blue eyes were just as beautiful as the young girls. Unlike Sango and Miroku who were begining to dodge the attacks from their 'relatives', Azrael just stood there unable to move.
"Azrael snap out of it! I don't know who they are but there's no way their who they used to be if Naraku had something to do with them." Inuyasha said as he dodged his 'mother's' attack.
*Even though I know what I'm telling myself is true, how could Naraku create such realistic puppets?* Inuyasha thought.
"I-Inuyasha." his 'mother' said. Inuyasha instantly recongnized her voice.
*It can't be.*
"Surpried Inuyasha. These are not puppets but the real thing. I've brought their souls back from the underworld just to torment you." Naraku said. Everyone realized what he said was true and dreading it at the same time.
"He's learned Necromancy." Kikyo stated in awe and fear.
"Inuyasha..." was all Kagome could say. In all honesty what could she say. She couldn't very well tell him to kill his own mother. Kagome then looked at Sango and Miroku who were having an equally hard time bringing themselves to what they knew they would have to do. When she looked at Azrael however, she realized he stood mesmerized by the two figures in front of him. It wasn't until one of them attacked his arm which began to bleed that he snapped out of it and jumped backwards.
"Azrael are you okay?" Kagome asked worried. *Who are those two people. Could they be his family?*
"Naraku you bastard!" Azrael yelled with rage, voicing everyone's opinion. "How dare you defile the soul's of our loved one's like this. I know they would want us to end their misery. But Naraku, your misery is just beginning!"
Kagome noticed Azrael was crying as he said this. She realized what he was about to do even before he did it.
"Azrael!" Kagome said just as Azrael decapitated the woman standing before him.
Azrael's actions seemed to break the spell of seeing their loved one's and allowed Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku to strike back.
Azrael hesitated as he looked at the small girl. Kagome could almost hear the girl say "daddy..."
*Is that Azrael's daughter?* Kagome thought. Azrael's head was down as he raised his sword to the small girl, with a quick slash of his sword her body fell to the ground.
"Naraku!" Azrael yelled as he looked up to see Naraku floating away on a black cloud. "Come back here you bastard!"
Azrael eye's seemed to glow red for a second. Kagome couldn't make it out clearly enough and figured it was from crying.
Suddenly Azrael launched himself high into the air. His sword began to glow again as he pulled his arm backwards. Even though Naraku was a good 20 feet away Azrael lunged his sword forward as an enery vortex erupted from it, but this vortex was a single straight blast.
"Vortex of Death!" Azrael yelled as he followed the attack. Naraku turned around only to be vaporized by the attack. Two jewel shards flew from his vaporized body and Azrael caught them in mid-air before he landed. Even though his head was down he could tell something was wrong. If he had truly destroyed Naraku everyone would've been much happier.
"There's no way..." Kagome said.
"You've got to be kidding me! You mean that was just a fucking doll!" Inuyasha yelled.
"How could Naraku have gained that much power that his doll's would be this strong." Miroku pondered.
"He has learned Necromancy." Kikyo said breaking the silence and pointing toward the bodies of their loved ones who were now rejoing and trying to stand back up. Kikyo raised her hand and a bright light of spiritual power was released and the bodies were vaporized. "Naraku has captured Kaede and requested that I meet him in the Valley of Death in two days."
"Fine, then we'll go with you." Azrael said speaking for the first time. Evidently regaining his composure as he handed the two jewel shards to Kagome. "I believe these belong to you."
"Thanks" Kagome said as she looked at Azrael. And for the first time she saw how truly sad he was.
"Kagome, here are the jewel shards that I've collected on my journey." Kikyo said as she handed a small pouch full of jewel shards.
"Thank you Kikyo. But why aren't you holding on to them anymore?"
"There's no need. Here let me see the jewel shards you have." With that Kagome handed over her jewel shards to Kikyo. Kikyo placed her hands over the jewel shards. Her hands glowed brightly for a second then quit. Kikyo removed her hands and removed the jewel shards combined into one large one. It was about 1/4th the size of the original.
"Here take care of this." Kikyo said. "Inuyasha, with your permission I would like to assist you against Naraku."
Kikyo's words shocked everyone that knew her it was unlike to say things like this.
"It doesn't make any difference to me." Inuyasha said as he looked at Kikyo unable to look at Kagome after what he had told her.
"Thank you. But there's something I must do first. I will meet you in Mishimoto, the village on the outskirts of the Valley of Death tomorow evening." With a slight nod to everyone Kikyo left and her soul collector's followed.
"That was unusual." Sango said with amazement.
"I think I need some time alone for a little bit." Azrael said as he left quickly and headed off.
"Okay we need to take a break anyway." Inuyasha said as he relaxed on a tree trunk. * I still can't figure out what made me tell Kagome those things?*
Kagome checked on Miroku's wounds before she made her way to Inuyasha.
"Kirara follow Azrael to make sure he's okay." Sango said as Kirara jumped off her lap and followed the disappearing form of Azrael.
Azrael raced through the woods at high speeds. He stopped at where they had originally rested where they had met Kikyo. He knelt beside the tree where Inuyasha and Kagome had sat and flaked off a piece of the tree that was covered in dried blood.
*The effect has worn off. Oh well, it doesn't matter now anway.* Azrael said as he crushed it with his hand. He then quickly slammed his fist into the tree which caused a deep crater in it.
"Damn you Naraku...damn you." Azrael said as tears fell from his eyes. Kirara rubber herself against his leg as he knelt down and pet her.
"I will avenge you...I promise."

"I wonder why Kikyo was acting so strangly." Inuyasha said aloud. "It's not like her to be so....nice."
"I've got no idea. Maybe she's warming up to us." Kagome thought as she looked at Inuyasha. * I still can't tell how he feels about her. I want to believe him but I don't want to get my hopes up.*

"Okay we need to take a break anyway." Inuyasha said as he relaxed on a tree trunk. * I still can't figure out what made me tell Kagome those things?*
Kagome checked on Miroku's wounds before she made her way to Inuyasha.
"Kirara follow Azrael to make sure he's okay." Sango said as Kirara jumped off her lap and followed the disappearing form of Azrael.
Azrael raced through the woods at high speeds. He stopped at where they had originally rested where they had met Kikyo. He knelt beside the tree where Inuyasha and Kagome had sat and flaked off a piece of the tree that was covered in dried blood.
*The effect has worn off. Oh well, it doesn't matter now anway.* Azrael said as he crushed it with his hand. He then quickly slammed his fist into the tree which caused a deep crater in it.
"Damn you Naraku...damn you." Azrael said as tears fell from his eyes. Kirara rubber herself against his leg as he knelt down and pet her.
"I will avenge you...I promise."

"I wonder why Kikyo was acting so strangly." Inuyasha said aloud. "It's not like her to be so....nice."
"I've got no idea. Maybe she's warming up to us." Kagome thought as she looked at Inuyasha. * I still can't tell how he feels about her. I want to believe him but I don't want to get my hopes up.*

Kikyo walked out of the forrest and headed to a village near there with her soul collector's still following.
*Evidently Kagome hasn't sensed it. With the exception of the shards in that young man and that wolf demon...all the shards have been found. That is the reason Naraku is so willing to show everyone his hiding place. If he gets all the shards he wants to kill everyone all at one time. This will surely be the final battle.*
