One year later...
"Kagome hurry we're going to be late." Inuysha impatiently grumbled as he fiddled with his new clothes. Instead of his traditional red robes of the fire rat he was now wearing a classical and more elegant black and red robes. "Everyone's already going to be there."
"I know, I know, I'm coming." Kagome said as she finally stepped out wearing a stunning kimono that showed her curves very well. It was red and dark purple with silver stars on it. "Do you like it?"
Inuyasha was speechless as she walked over to him and kissed him on the lips. "I knew you would." Kagome teasingly whispered in his ear. Inuyasha only grinned as he pulled her into a deeper kiss.
"I love you." Inuyasha said as he opened up the door to their hut and they traveled together through the village. The villagers looked at the couple with awe as they bowed with respect at their new priestess...and their new their new guardian. Kagome blushed a little from all the respect and Inuyasha couldn't help but chuckle. Suddenly they hear a joyous laughter coming from the center of the village where everyone was gathered.
"Here comes the loving couple now." Miroku exclaimed as he held Sango close to him and pointed at Inuyasha and Kagome. Everyone was there. Shippo, Sango, Miroku, Kohaku, Koga, Ayame, Kaede, even Sesshomaru,Rin, and Jaken. Inuyasha had also brought Kagome's family to the feudal era for this special event.
"Mom, Granpa, Sota!" Kagome exclaimed as she hugged them.
"Kagome, oh how lovely you look! Inuyahsa, you look handsome yourself." Kagome's mom said making Inuyasha blush.
"I would've never guessed Kagome would've married a demon. Not in a hundred years." Grandpa said as he looked at Inuyasha. "But since she did, I'm glad it was you Inuyasha."
Inuyasha smirked at this and slapped him hard on the back as he went to talk with everyone else. The festivites would soon begin but for now it was nice seeing everyone. They discovered that Ayame was going to have pups soon and that Koga had finally settled down with her. Miroku and Sango were soon going to get married and Kohaku was going to live with them. Sesshomaru was his usual self, even though everyone noticed that he held Rin close to him and kept his arm around her waist the entire time he was there. Finally it was time for the wedding. Kaede began the traditional ceremonies, added by some more modern idea's insisted by Kagome's mom. Everyone was quiet and smiling, even Sesshomaru, when it was time for the groom to kiss the bride. Both Inuyasha and Kagome blushed as they kissed in front of everyone. Finally it was time for Kagome to toss the bouquet, no one expected what happened next as the bouquet flew through the air, only to be caught by...Rin.
Every one looked back at Sesshomaru who stood open mouthed looking at Rin, then back to everyone else, then back at Rin. Sesshomaru quickly regained his composure and tried to conceal the bright blush on his face that mimicked Inuyasha's as Rin starred dreamy eyed at him. "Come on, let's go congratulate Inuyasha." Sesshomaru commanded as they followed everyone else up.
Inuyasha couldn't help but joke around with his brother as he smiled at Rin. "Looks like we know who's next to be married."
Rin giggled at the comment, she and Inuyasha laughed harder as they saw how uncomfortable Sesshomaru was.
"Congratulations Inuyasha. You to Kagome. You both make a lovely couple. Remember Inuyasha, treat her well and keep her safe. You are after all the prince of the western lands, and therefore you must set yourself apart from everyone else. Also, if you ever want to. Both of you will be welcome to visit me anytime in the western plains if you so wish." Sesshomaru said as he as he shook Inuyasha's hand and after a second both brother's cordially hugged eachother.
"Thank you Sesshomaru, I am sure we will take you up on your offer in due time." Inuyasha said as smiled brightly. Later that night when the festivities were winding down Inuyasha and Kagome strolled through the village and stopped by the river bank as they sat beneath a memorial.
"It's hard to believe that after all we've been through, we're finally here together. We no longer have to worry about Naraku or anything else. We're finally free to be happy." Kagome said as she leaned against Inuyasha's chest. Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her as he kissed the back of her neck.
"I know, we can finally be happy, we can finally be together. I love you Kagome."
"I love you too Inuyasha."
In the distance the sound of voices could be heard calling their names. "Look's like we weren't able to escape them after all." Inuyasha pouted as he kissed Kagome again.
"Don't worry, there'll be plenty of alone time later. Tonight, let's just enjoy the time we have with our friends." Kagome replied as her and Inuyasha stood up to return to everyone. "We owe that to them, and we owe it to him. Thank you Azrael."
"Heh, who would've thought that someone like him could make such an impact on all of us, in such a short time." Inuyasha said as he held Kagome and started to walk.
"He truly was a magnifiscent person." Kagome agreed as she rested her head on his shoulder. As they left the full moon shone on the memorial, showing the statue that was expertly carved into the stone and the inscription beneath it.
This is in remembrance of the man who gave his life so save so many. He has touched many hearts, and lost many loved ones, but never truly lost his humanity. He cared about others more than himself, even to the very end. He truly was a Lord among men. Azrael, thank you for all you have shown us, and all you have taught us about love.
The face of the young man with flowing hair smiled through his stone mask. And either through the trick of the moonlight, or by some other magic, the eyes of the statue seemed to glow as it watched the newly married couple walk away into the moonlight.
Author's Note: Well this is it. I finally finished the story. I have to admit I wish I could've put more into it, and I might go back and edit some things in it, but as of right now I won't be able to. I am pretty busy with school, and right now the most important thing to me is working on mine and Destiny Dreamer's story, Seperate Wings. After we finish that, if we ever decide for it to end ; )...then I will go back and try to add some more to this. Thank you everyone who's supported this story, especially Holly and Brittany. I love you both so much.
And Brittany, If I know what love is, it is because of you.
