InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Angel in Disguise ❯ Awakening to a new day ( Chapter 2 )
The sound of the radio alarm playing Linkin Park's "In the End" woke me up from my slumber. I smacked the button and groaned as I rolled over to lay on my back, staring at the ceiling with a picture of a graceful unicorn posing before the light of the moon, feeling my heart ache as I gazed at it, wishing I could stroke my hands over it's glowing white coat. I gave a shake of my head to snap me out of my thoughts and flung my blankets off of me, hopping out of bed and stepping towards my dresser. I yanked out a few underclothes, my favorite hip hugging dark jeans, and a short sleeved blue top with the words "Angel" glittering across from it. Giving a yawn, I paced barefoot into my own little private bathroom and stripped from my pj's and turned on the water in the shower. Soon I was beneath the spray of warm water, feeling the hard jets of water wakening me up as showers always did, scrubbing my favorite berry shampoo into my long hair, scrubbing at the scalp, before rinsing it out, and following with conditioner. With a quick soaping up and my everyday shave, I soon stepped out from the tub, shivering hard and squeaking over the cold air brushing over me. "Damnit, there goes Dad, turning off the heater! That man is going to freeze us to death one day." I grumbled as and dried myself off with a towel. Not long, I was dressed, teeth brushed, and my hair blown dry. I was rather proud that I could get ready so fast. Then again, I never did anything to try to pretty myself up, like most girls did. I added a little lip-gloss to my lips and yanked on a pair of socks and my New Balance sneakers before I raced down the steps of our two-story house. Mom and Dad were in the kitchen, Mom with her nose in the morning paper, and Dad making them some coffee. They both lifted up their heads as they smiled and greeted me with their normal "Good Morning," and I returned the greeting, adding a little roll of my eyes and giggling at them as they grinned at my expression. They knew the whole "Morning get-together-for-breakfast was a little annoying to me. I felt like we were some crazy TV family and they knew it, which was why they continued to torment me. Parents…gotta love them. I glanced at the time and gave a yelp as I saw I was going to be late for school if I didn't hurry it up. I gave them both a kiss on the cheek, snatched a breakfast bar, and my backpack and raced out the door, heading to my car. Unlike most kids at school who had those nice hot rods or whatnot, I only had my little '87 gun metal gray Toy parked alongside the street. Of course it's a Toyota, but the "ota" was missing, so I affectionately call it my little toy. I hopped in it, slipped in the key and turned the ignition, pleading and begging it to start as it whined at me and finally coughed it into starting. I cooed and patted it on the dashboard, begging it to forgive me as I gave it no time to warm-up and squealed away, headed towards Harthwood High.
