Chapter 1 :: Good Bye Sesshomaru

Ever since I was very little, I had wanted to stay with him for as long as I could. He would wander off, gone for days, leaving with the toad Jaken. I missed him so much when he left. He never really showed me affection, but I knew he cared about me. I asked him if he would remember me when I passed away and he told me not to say such nonsense. That meant he cared for me…right?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ POV Change ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Rin had grown into a beautiful young woman. 19 years old now, ebony hair that hung in soft locks down to her waist. Her dark chocolate eyes shimmered and her smile could make any man melt.

Sesshomaru began to notice after the death of Naraku. Inuyasha has defeated the half demon and Sesshomaru had planned to steal the jewel from the wench that traveled with his half brother. The girl had kept it from Inuyasha though and wished herself away.
It had been a misunderstanding. She had seen the dead Miko bitch with him and assumed they could never be together.

Now he was looking at the sweet smile on his companions pale face. Sesshomaru was a demon of Pride. He was not weak and he did not show his feelings. Rin made it hard to be so emotionless all the time, but she was after all…only a human.
Closing his eyes against the harsh sun, Sesshomaru leaned his head back against the large tree, shading his head and chest.

Rin saw him. Smiling a little and rising to her feet, she made her way to him, silent and purposeful. In the last few weeks she had become more outgoing, more eager to get close with the Demon Lord she had loved for so long.
The raven haired young woman sat beside him on her knees, leaning against him softly.
Laying her head on his shoulder, Rin sighed contently. It was so nice to be next to him. Sesshomaru never seemed to mind, he never pushed her away or said harsh things to her.
Sometimes he would gently ease out from underneath her and go for a walk. On these days Rin too would disappear. It hurt her to not be near him and she would seek solitude in the hot springs.

Today was one of those days.
“Rin.”
That single word brought her from her pleasant thoughts of the Demon Lord.
“Yes, my Lord?”
“Remove yourself from me.”
With a little bit of a hurt look, she rose to her feet, stepping away from the demon.
“…But…Why My Lord? What is there to be done?”
Rin never asked him about the things he said he had to do; but today she had wanted to be with him. She had thought it would be fun to stay together in the nice whether.
“Rin.”
Bowing her head to him, hiding the hurt in her eyes, she apologized.
“I'm sorry my Lord. It is none of my business.”

The Demon Lord turned from her, walking away in dignified way that he did. She watched him, the tears in her eyes welling up and over her lower eye lashes. They spilled down her cheeks and she turned away as well. Rin did not want the Demon Lord to know her pain.
She would once again take refuge in the hot spring.

He could smell the salty tears that fell from her chocolate brown eyes. He would have turned around and taken her in his arms if he had been a different person; but he was a Demon Lord. Humans were not what demons wanted.

Rin was what he wanted though.

Denying himself her soft touch, he walked into the forest, fading from view of the clearing.
He would follow her, like he had done on so many occasions like this.
Sesshomaru had never watched her undress; he had never seen the sweet peaks that perked on her chest, or the beautiful curls that led down to the warmth between her young legs.
Once he had seen her rear end, but it had been an accident, looking back before she had fully submerged herself into the warm water.

Rin was heading to the same place as always; a wonderful spring that he too had visited on a few occasions.

Sesshomaru could still smell the salty tears that dripped down her sweet face. It made his chest tighten at the thought of her upset because of him. He had not meant to hurt her. He never did. Sesshomaru had followed her almost every time, and only rarely did she cry. Thinking it had been for other reasons, he had never blamed himself before now.
It was clear though, she wept for him often.

He closed his eyes, looking away from the girl as she stripped down to her birthday suit. His lashes did not flutter up, for he had no desire to see her if she was not the one showing him. He would be no peeping tom.

Minutes passed before he realized she was probably done undressing. He had been thinking of her sweet lips. He thought about catching the sweet pouting bottom lip gently between his fangs, sucking softly and holding her small frame against his own chiseled body.
Shaking himself from the thought, Sesshomaru quickly left the sanctity on the thick trees. He could be around her right now. He felt he might not be able to hold himself back while she bathed. He would never take her innocence, but he did not want to corner her like that. She may feel obligated…or worse. What if he scared her. He did not want something like that to be thrown at him as a defense.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Rin sank down into the hot water, her tears being washed away. She felt a jerk in her chest as the thought of tears being taken away made her think of Sesshomaru being taken away.
A fresh wave of the salty droplets found their way down her cheeks when they broke the surface of the hot spring. A soft sob escaped her throat as the realization that Sesshomaru could not be taken away from her because he had never been hers.

Putting her hands on her shoulders, she let her head drop, tears making ripples in the water as they fell from her jaw.

“Sesshomaru…”
The name left her lips as a whisper, barely audible above the sound of the moving water.
“I love you…”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

She stayed in the water for minutes. Rin was done before she had even stopped crying.
Dressed again, she looked back at the way she had come from. It was not the way she would be going back. Without warning or a good bye, Rin left toward the east, away from the West lands and the demon lord that ruled them.
