Another Pack

Chapter one

A/N: * In an elaborate poof of feathers, Tengu Queen appears before readers as a huge talking raven* Hi, everyone! *Nervous glances* this is the first fanfic I've ever posted so, please be nice.

Kagome climbed out of the Bone-eater's well. Four days ago she had gone back to her time to take a history test. She had gotten a B+ and was happy because that was the best grade she had gotten for weeks. Kagome was also happy because the next test was on what life was like in the warlord era. All she had to do was look closely at the villages they would pass.

"Kagome!" Someone cried from the edge of the clearing. Fast as light, an orange blur jumped into Kagome's hands with such force that it nearly knocked her back into the well. Kagome laughed and started tickling Shippo. The rest of the group showed up to welcome Kagome back. When they saw Kagome in such a good mood all of them smiled, except Inu Yasha.

"Why are you in such a good mood?" Inu Yasha asked in his normal grouchy tone. Kagome explained that she had gotten a good grade, and also explained what the next test was about.

"I'm glad you are in such a good mood, Kagome." Sango said with a smile, she didn't understand anything that Kagome was saying, but she smiled. Then she reached for her boomerang and bonked Miroku on the head. He pulled his hand back from her backside and rubbed his head. "Just because I'm happy for Kagome does not mean I'm unaware." Sango said. She put her boomerang in a place were it would be easier to reach if the monk decided to try that again.

"So, any rumors about the jewel fragments?" Kagome asked. Sango, Inu Yasha, and Shippo turned to Miroku.

"There have been rumors of a young man and his wife, who travel with six demons and can command them to do anything. It is also rumored that the young wife wears the shard of a jewel around her neck," said Miroku.

"Do you know what kind of demons they travel with?" asked Kagome.

Miroku nodded his head. "They travel with a kitsune, two dragons, a tengu, a mouse demon, and some sort of cat demon." He then turned around and said, "We'd better get going if we're to reach where they were last spotted before dark."

"Where were they last spotted?" Inu Yasha asked.

"In a village North of here. It's not that far. Maybe a days walk from here," said Miroku in a matter-of-fact tone. Kagome picked up her pack, and strapped it on her bike. Then the group started North to find the village Miroku was talking about.
