Chapter Ten:

"Hey Kagome." A low voice called.

Said girl stopped emptying her locker and looked up to see a scowling Uyeda walking down the hall.

"Hey Uyeda." She smiled.

"What's up?" He asked casually, leaning against the locker next to hers.

"Nothing really. Takai and I are going to pick up my brother in a second and then we'll probably go back to my place for dinner. What are you doing?"

Uyeda snorted. "Well aren't you two the cute lil' old married couple."

Kagome screwed her face up in dislike. He couldn't help but laugh.

"No worries. There's a party at a friend of mine's house tonight. You two should come, it'll be fun."

Kagome gave a tentative smile. She didn't know if she wanted to go to a party that he would recommend.

"Stop pestering my girlfriend Uyeda, you're making her uncomfortable."

Kagome blushed as an arm wrapped around her waist and brought her flush to Miroku's chest.

"I'm not pestering her. Merely inviting her to a party." Uyeda watched the two.

She tensed when she was first taken hold of but now Kagome had completely relaxed.

"Whose party?" Miroku asked curious as to what Uyeda was trying to do.

"Uo's." He smirked.

Miroku lifted an eyebrow at his friend. "No."

Kagome peered up at the boy holding her. He was very blunt and to the point with his answer and she wanted to know what his reasoning for this could be.

"Why not?"

Miroku sighed. "It's just not a party we should go to."

He knew that she wouldn't accept that answer but he really didn't want to explain what went on at Uo's parties. They were always wild and Miroku, as well as the whole group, went there for only one reason.

One of Uyeda's continuing goals in life was to bed Uo but he had yet to succeed and it didn't look like he would accomplish this any time soon. She was a tough blond that could easily give back anything she received. An undeniably rough girl, Miroku had always hoped that he would never get on her bad side.

This was why Uyeda liked her--or so Gregor and Miroku theorized. Uo could easily beat the crap out Uyeda and that seemed to turn him on.

Miroku shook his head. He knew why Uyeda wanted them to come and neither reason ended well. This was very unlike him too, Uyeda was more of an "in your face" bully instead of a manipulative, conniving one. This plan wasn't his style and Miroku figured there was someone else behind this idea as well.

Clearing his head again, Miroku took Kagome's hand and lead her down the hall.

"Bye Uyeda, say hey to Uo for me.... that is, if she lets you near her." He chuckled at hearing Uyeda's growl.

"Seriously, why can't we go?" Kagome asked, as she was ushered into Miroku's now un-impounded car.

Miroku sighed yet again. He seemed to be doing that when it came to Kagome and her stubborn streak.

"Uo's parties are wild, there are a lot of things that go on at them that you probably don't want to be around."

Miroku started the car and began pulling out of the parking spot. He was shocked when Gregor ran up and began pounding on Kagome's window. He was so surprised that he slammed his foot down, unfortunately his foot was over the gas pedal, and not the brake and he ended up slamming into the car behind him.

Gregor's eyes were wide as he tried to hold in laughter while still trying to look guilty. Kagome was frozen in shock and Miroku was spouting every obscenity known to man, as well as some others that he made up on the spot.

Kagome, coming out of her stupor, stepped out of the car. The damage wasn't too bad but still quite noticeable. The bumpers on both cars now sported huge dents, Miroku's so much that it left the body of the car completely at an acute angle. Several of the light coverings, as well as some of the bulbs, were busted but other than that, there was little damage.

Seiichi and Uyeda came up to the scene and began laughing. Miroku had gotten out of the car and was now approaching Gregor with a murderous glare.

"Heh-sorry man--didn't know you would react like that." Gregor said rubbing the back of his head and backing away.

Miroku didn't reply but continued his approach, which was beginning to really worry Gregor.

"Kagome," Miroku gritted out through clenched teeth. "Go with Seiichi to pick up Sota, I'll talk to you tomorrow."

Kagome nodded and followed Seiichi to his car.

"You not going to call her tonight leash-boy?" Uyeda asked pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.

"I just totaled my car thanks to this dumb fuck. I'm going to Uo's party tonight and getting hammered so I can forget that my dad is going to kill me when he finds out."

Uyeda grinned around his cigarette. "You ain't going to invite the wife? There could be tons of fun had--really break her into our group."

Gregor stepped up to this comment. "No way--I won't allow Kagome to go to a party which is just a poor excuse for an orgy and I would really suggest that you don't go either."

"I'm just going to get drunk--not to participate in the festivities." Miroku explained.

"Doesn't matter, things could still happen, especially if you're drunk. What do you think will happen if Kagome finds out?"

"Fuck her if she finds out. She shouldn't try to change the group." Uyeda commented with barely contained anger.

Gregor ignored the outburst and turned completely to get into Miroku's face.

He growled in a low voice so only Miroku could hear. "You go to that party, you'll regret it. I'll make sure of it. I know you too well, my friend and I know your limits. If you go and get drunk you and I both know what will happen."

"Back off, you've done enough damage for one day." Miroku shoved his friend away.

Gregor clenched his fist and prepared to strike. He was interrupted, however, by a scream.

"My car!" A woman, one of the new teachers from their school, ran out and fell trembling onto her damaged black sedan.

"My poor baby! What happened to you!?" She wailed.

Uyeda and Miroku burst out into laughter at the sight. Neither noticed an angry Gregor stalking off.

*~*~*~*

Seiichi dropped off the two Higurashi at their family shrine.

Remembering what Gregor said about Seiichi's family, Kagome invited the boy to eat with her family. It had taken a few moments for him to cave in to her pleading.

He climbed the stairs with the siblings, Sota excitedly chatting about a new video game that was coming out next week. Kagome couldn't help but smile at her brother's enthusiasm.

The three of them walked into the main house where her mother was vacuuming the living room. She stopped seeing an unfamiliar face with her children.

"Hey mom." Sota said bounding upstairs.

Mrs. Higurashi smiled at her son before she focused her complete attention on the new boy.

"Hi mom." Kagome said kissing her mother's cheek. "This is Seiichi, one of my friends from school. Seiichi this is my mom."

Mrs. Higurashi smiled and bowed politely.

"Would you two like a snack or something? I can fix one up in no time." She offered the two teens.

"No thanks mom. I'll make us something if we're hungry, you're already busy."

Kagome motioned for Seiichi to follow her and they went into the kitchen.

"You and your mom seem pretty close." He commented taking the soda she offered him.

"Well, yeah I guess. She's really understanding and all, in reality a lot of times she's more like my friend that my mom and I think that is why we seem so close."

Seiichi smiled slightly at the girl. She was obviously uncomfortable talking about such things in front of him, either because she knew of his own family life or because she just didn't like to talk about herself. He figured it was probably a combination of the two.

"It'll be a couple more hours before mom starts on dinner, what do you want to do?" She asked.

Seiichi shrugged.

"Well let me give you a tour of the shrine grounds until mom finishes in the living room. Then we can just watch some TV."

They left the house and casually strolled around the grounds. It was peaceful and just a bit chilly. The cool autumn air had almost completely taken over preparing everything for the cold of winter.

They stopped by the well house. Seiichi was curious to see in it. He had heard all the stories from Koga and Miroku, though at first he didn't believe them. He gradually began to accept them and then Kagome herself had showed up and there was no doubt that the tales were true. He was amazed at how someone so innocent could be so strong and he found himself wondering more and more often why he couldn't be more like her.

Kagome opened the door slowly. It slid open with just a bit of resistance indicating that no one had opened it recently. The well itself sat down below a wooden walk around and was covered by a wooden top covered with various types of seals.

"The seals are worthless. My grandfather put them on there thinking he would keep demons out but I don't think it would if a demon actually thought about coming through. Though honestly I'm not too worried about that happening." She confessed to him.

She walked down the short stairwell to the dirt-covered bottom. She sighed as she approached the well and put her hand on the wood.

"Does it still work?" He asked quietly.

"Yeah, I think. I haven't gone back since I last left, but I'm pretty sure it still does."

"Why haven't you gone back?"

He had now joined her and was standing side-by-side staring at the wooden cover that hid the magical well that held the ability to transfer those it saw fit to the feudal era of Japan.

"It's not my place to be. I belong here."

Tears silently fell from her eyes and landed on the dirt ground. Seiichi stayed silent, not sure at what to say or do.

Mrs. Higurashi interrupted the two. She was calling their names indicating that dinner was almost ready. Kagome looked outside into the pitch dark.

"I didn't realize how late it had gotten. I'm sorry. I know the shrine can be really boring." She smiled, wiping away her tears.

"Nah, it's been fun. In fact I'm pretty sure nothing is boring when you're around." He smiled back.

Kagome giggled a little and led the way back out of the well house. They made their way back and soon Kagome was helping her mother with dinner and Seiichi was talking at the table.

It was amazing. The two women moved flawlessly around the kitchen as they cooperated in the dinner preparations. Sure, he had seen the wolf women making dinner but then specific tasks were set to each woman so that they wouldn't get in the way. This was not the case with the two women in front of him. They both interweaved the tasks trying to get as much accomplished in the least amount of time. They worked efficiently and sooner than he knew, the table was being set and dinner was being served.

"You look awe-struck." Kagome commented as she placed the bowl of rice in front of him.

He blushed and looked away.

"You two are really amazing to watch in the kitchen. You work so well together." He commented.

Mrs. Higurashi just laughed at the boy as she added two more plates of food onto the table. She laid a quick kiss on his forehead and then moved back to get the rest of the food from the counter.

Seiichi was blushing furiously and brought his hand up to touch his forehead where the kiss had been placed. He had grown up with nannies and without any true display of affection towards him. He was a paycheck to those women and often times he found himself playing by himself while the women were off doing something else, or if by chance his father was home, doing him.

He always wondered if his mother knew about the rampant affairs his father had but he wasn't completely convinced his mother was as innocent as she portrayed herself to be.

It was when he had reached the age of six when he had taken up walking around the neighborhood and hiding in the unoccupied houses. The richer part of the neighborhood in which they lived was often owned by families who had more than one home and so during parts of the year most of the houses were left vacant. Gregor/Koga's house was that way and he found himself hiding in the garage and playing with the makeshift toys he would make.

When Koga's pack finally moved back into their house, Seiichi had to find a new place to hang out. He snuck around the property to the very edge of Koga's property where a stream was located. He would spend his days and a good part of his nights just sitting by the stream, usually throwing things in it.

It wasn't until the wolves ran into him that he first met anyone from that house. At this point he was almost a teenager, twelve years old, but that didn't stop the instant fear he felt when he found himself surrounded by a pack of wild wolves.

A deep voice called him to not be afraid because that would only incite the wolves fully. The disembodied voice only helped fuel his fear as he quickly searched for the source.

It was then he first caught a glimpse of Koga, and not the image of Gregor that he later disguised himself of, but the already full frown wolf demon.

Blue eyes held the boys stare as he sniffed the air.

"Your the kid that snuck into our garage." He accused stepping nearer the boy.

Seiichi shook his head violently and began to back up. His feet splashed into the stream, instantly soaking him with ice-cold water.

"Don't deny it kid, I recognize the scent."

The wolves began to growl and move in along with Koga. Seiichi sunk to the ground so that the water came up to his thighs.

"I'm sorry mister. I was just looking for a place to hide out. There was no one there and I wasn't hurting anything." He began to apologize quickly.

He held his eyes closed tightly and his head looking down to the ground. The next thing he knew he was being yanked to his feet and held into the air. He opened his eyes to see the icy blue eyes again.

"You'll catch a cold that way kid." The man said and brought him over to the bank and then sat him down.

A sharp bark from Koga scattered the wolves else where leaving just the man and the boy next to the stream.

"Why were you hiding out?" Koga asked squatting down in front so he could face the boy.

"I hate being by myself. My house is so big and so lonely."

"And my garage isn't?"

"At least in your garage I don't have to deal with servants who can't stand me half the time."

"Where are you parents?"

Seiichi shrugged trying hard not to cry. He didn't want to seem weak in front of this man who just exuded manliness.

"Well you didn't hurt anything, so we're not mad. Just next time, come to the front door and come inside. It's more fun in the house, not to mention probably warmer."

Seiichi, who had been looking down again, quickly lifted his head to see the man now smiling at him. Koga chuckled and mused up the cleanly hair.

"Come on, let's get you some warm clothes or something, we can't have you catching a cold."

Koga helped the boy up and they both walked towards the main house.

"Hey mister,"

"Koga, the names Koga."

"Well, Koga, what's with all the wolves?"

Koga chuckled and then sent a grin over to the boy.

"My family has always been strong supporters of conserving the dwindling wolf populations of the world. Not only do we donate money but also we help by turning our property into wolf conservation areas. Though its best not to speak too much about the conservation area bit, too many people will come here and try to hunt them."

Seiichi was amazed and started rattling off the information he knew about wolves from watching the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. He was amazed at how much Koga knew and how much he corrected him when the facts that he was taught were incorrect.

That was the beginning of his endless times at Koga's house. A few months later, Seiichi had been introduced to "Gregor" not knowing the truth behind the disguise.

After a year, Seiichi was finally privy to the truth about Koga's family, whom seemed very strange at times, and the truth behind Gregor. At first he was weirded out but he later just found the close-knit pack even more enjoyable.

"Seiichi?" A woman's voice called him.

He blinked out of his daydreaming to see the whole of the Higurashi family, including an elderly man he assumed was Kagome's grandfather, staring at him. He blushed and ducked his head.

The whole family laughed at his mumbled apologize and asked him if he would be so kind to start the meal off.

"So Seiichi, tell us a little about yourself." Mrs. Higurashi prompted as she put food on Sota's plate.

"There isn't a lot to tell." He shrugged picking through his vegetables with his chopsticks.

"Seiichi lives near Gregor out in the suburbs." Kagome started for him.

"Is that so?" Mrs. Higurashi said with genuine interest. "It must be lovely to live out there. I used to dream living out in the suburbs myself but I truly believe that my family does better living at the shrine."

Her eyes briefly flashed to Kagome who was sipping her drink. Kagome caught Seiichi's eye before she mocked stabbing something with her chopsticks.

They both laughed which only drew attention to the two. Kagome shook her head and went back to eating in relative silence.

Dinner went rather quickly and Seiichi found himself helping the two women clean the kitchen. He didn't mind, and had actually volunteered for the job. He had never felt more part of a family than he did with the Higurashi's and he had only spent a few hours in their house.

"What now?" Kagome asked as she put the last of the dishes in the cupboard.

"I should be getting home soon. It's gotten late."

Kagome looked at the clock on the oven and noticed the time.

"It's only eight. You can stay a bit longer. I hate to think you're going home to that big, empty house. Stay awhile, no one minds, in fact, I think everyone would be happy to have you here anytime." Kagome pleaded smiling at the boy in front of her.

Seiichi smiled again and quickly caved into the request. He had no reason to go home and he honestly didn't want to leave yet.

"Well at least let us get some homework done first." Seiichi suggested.

Kagome groaned but made her way to her room with Seiichi in tow. Once they got there they both dove into their work.

When it came time for Kagome to tackle her math homework Seiichi was glad to help.

Mrs. Higurashi looked in on the two several times to see them working and smiled. She was very happy that her daughter was fitting in. She had been afraid when Kagome's adventures in the feudal era ended that it would be difficult if not impossible for her to fit in again in this time. From the three friends she had already met it didn't look like that was the case.

She would just have to look out for those boys. They may have thought they had gotten away with it, but she new perfectly well that had snuck into the house earlier.

`Ah to be young again.' Mrs. Higurashi thought to herself as she went to go check on her son.

*~*~*~*

Seiichi and Kagome had finished their homework and had set into a comfortable conversation. Neither noticed the time or anything as they continued to chat about this and that.

It wasn't until the phone rang that either of them took notice to anything beyond them.

"Who would call your house this late?" Seiichi said, for the first time seeing that it was already past midnight.

"I don't know." Kagome said but quickly rushed for the phone before it woke up the rest of the house.

"Hello?" She said quietly listening for movement from the rest of the house.

Everything was silent.

"Kagome." The voice on the other side of the phone said.

The voice lacked the normal Scottish accent and was obviously very pissed off.

"Koga? What are you doing calling this late at night?" Kagome asked. "Are you okay? You sound angry?"

"Angry is an understatement. Listen, I hate to do this to you, because you know I love you, but Miroku is an idiot."

Kagome's eyes widened and her breath hitched. What had happened that would cause this.

"He went to Uo's party."

Kagome let out her breath. She was a little hurt that he had gone without her and especially that he hadn't told her he was going but she had thought it was something serious.

"So he went to her party. What of it?" She asked.

Seiichi stiffened next to her. She looked over curiously at her. His eyes were smoldering and he quickly ripped the phone out of her grasp.

"Miroku went to Uo's party?"

"Seiichi? Why are you over there this late?" Koga asked.

"Answer the question."

"Yeah the idiot went to her party. He said he was just going to get drunk because I put a ding in his car but that just makes everything worse."

"Mother fucker!" Seiichi growled. "Drag his ass out of there."

"I can't! Uyeda is making sure that I can't get in. He told Uo something about me and she's denying me entrance. I told him not to go, I told him I would tell Kagome and the bastard did it any way."

Seiichi gave the phone back to Kagome as he got up and began pacing the room.

"Koga, what's going on?" A now very worried Kagome asked.

"Uo's parties are basically just big fuck-fests. People go to get drunk and fuck any and everyone that goes." He stopped when he heard Kagome's gasp.

It was obvious that she was beginning to tear up; he could hear it even through that small gasp.

"Kagome he was just pissed and wanted to blow off some steam. So he went to go get drunk but there in lies the problem. Something's up. Uyeda is planning something and I told him not to go. I'm sorry sweetie; I didn't mean this to happen to you. I just can't let him get away with this. You're too important."

"Where is this Uo's house? Where is the party at?" Kagome asked, looking up at Seiichi as he finished pacing the room.

"What? Kagome I'm not-" Koga shouted through the phone.

"I don't care. I'm going to get him and drag him out of there and then give him a piece of my mind."

"Kagome, that isn't the best idea." Seiichi said softly.

"I don't care. He hasn't changed. I thought he had but he hasn't and for once I'm going to speak up and make him pay."

Neither boy said anything. Seiichi nodded and motioned towards the door. She said goodbye to Koga and hung up the phone.

The two teens snuck downstairs and out of the house. They walked down the street where Kagome had advised Seiichi to park his car.

He had a really bad feeling about this and really didn't want to take her but he had a feeling he didn't want to face Kagome's wrath right now. He just hoped Miroku would survive it.

A/N: I thought I would put these down here for a change.

First off: Thank you to everyone who answered to my AN/Chapter and helped me out with my Naruto problem. I have fixed it and have watched up as far as I can (only 109 sadly) in the series. I've found some rather awesome fanfics and I'm going to try to read a few that were suggested to me from fans as soon as possible.

Just to clear something up that I didn't really think about until a few people went and asked me about it. When I mentioned that I liked Kiba/Naru pairings, I didn't mean this in a crossover fashion. For those of you who haven't seen the series, there is a character in Naruto whose named Kiba. I wasn't a big fan of Wolf's Rain and stopped watching it after a while and so it didn't occur to me to make this distinction. Sorry if that confused anybody.

I'm actually currently in a real bad mood seeing that I am now officially the last person in my group to be single. One of my best friends, and the only other single person, has just started dating this most awesome guy (they are so perfect for each other and I'm so happy for them), so I'm either going to dump all my depression into updates for A Heart Once Not Broken and Rainy Day Rescues or I'm going to just try and put my all into a one-shot smut Naru fic (though I'm not sure of the pairing since I've never done a yaoi pairing and I'm not sure I would be too good at it).

I'm also working on a new piece that I hope to begin writing the chapters soon but right now I'm still writing out the outline. I'm excited about this fic and I hope I can get it written to the standard I'm hoping for. We'll see.

Well that's all for now. Thanks guys for all your help!

****Fun New Game****

For my Irish Lit class I'm reading one of the most wonderful books called A Star Named Henry by Roddy Doyle (I love that name! I'm so naming my kid Roddy!) But in this book I've learned several new obscenities and actually the Irish and the South, USA are probably the best at making up their own obscenities to match whatever occasion that is going on.

So my new game is: IM, Email or leave a Review on what your favorite or just a new obscenity is. Doesn't have to be anything outstanding and really there isn't a real point to this game but if I find some that I like I may use them in some of my fics as well just use them in life. What can be more fun than that?!

Any and All suggestions sent to me will be posted on my next update so make sure you leave the name/screen name/pen name/etc you want me to credit the obscenity to and if there is an explanation behind it, that would be helpful.

For Example: my contribution

gobshite- shite=shit and gob=mouth, so its saying mouth shit; an alternative to saying bullshit, so when someone is lying you simply say gobshite instead and no one is the wiser.

Have fun with this one y'all!

Until Next Time…
