Okay enough mellow drama, on with the story!

Inuyasha woke up feeling like complete and total shit. He didn't much sleep last night because he kept seeing Kikyou's smirking face in his dreams. That's when he remembered his situation and it dawned on him that he couldn't even pick her up and take her to school anymore.

`Hell, no point in going then.'

He was just about to crawl back in bed when both his father and Sesshoumaru stormed into his room.

`Didn't I lock that damn door?'

He looked down and saw the spare key in his father's hand, and felt a headache come at the sound of his booming voice.

"Inuyasha!"

"What?"

"Do not `what' me, how dare you disrespect your mother like that last night, you had her in tears!"

"I didn't mean to I had a bad night."

"You will not treat your mother that way, I don't care how bad a night it was. Look at me!"

Inuyasha raised his eyes to his father's and the look on his face made Inuyasha think that his bad night must be reflecting.

"What happened last night, your eyes are bloodshot."

"I heard you won the game last night, so that couldn't be it."

"No, Sesshoumaru that's not it and what do you care anyway?"

"I should care if my brother has been crying, should I not?"

"No you shouldn't"

"Did something happen with Kagome?"

Inuyasha got up completely ignoring his brother's question.

"I'm going to apologize to mom."

He walked out of the room leaving them to stare at his back. And leaving a suspicious brother to vow to find out what was going.

Inuyasha walked to the kitchen where he knew his mother would be sitting. He felt a pang of guilt when he saw her, she looked sad and didn't like to see his mother that way. She looked up when he walked fully into the room, and her face softened when she saw his red eyes.

"Inuyasha?"

"Mom I'm sorry, everything is just so fucked up."

She ignored his choice of words in order to find out what was going on, what could possibly be so bad to make her fiery son look so defeated?

"Inuyasha please tell me what's wrong."

"I can't, just please don't make me go to school today"

She nearly choked on thin air, Inuyasha never says please, the only time she'd heard him say it was when he was asking Kagome not to be mad at him for something.

"Uumm, well okay, but what about Kagome? Don't you need to tell her that you're picking her up today?"

"She knows"

If her ears weren't fooling her, he sounded even sadder when he said that, maybe they broke up.

"Did you two break up?"

"I don't want to talk about her right now." He stood up and left the kitchen jus as his father and brother walked in, they took a moment to stare at him and then sat down.

"Sesshoumaru do you know if something happened between Inuyasha and Kagome?"

"No mother, but I believe it is the reason he's acting so pitiful."

Inutaisho looked at them confused for a minute before he finally understood what they were talking about.

"So you think they broke up?"

"I don't know but he seemed sadder when I brought her up."

"When Sesshoumaru brought her up he just avoided the question entirely."

"Sesshoumaru will you please find out what is going on, I can't stand to see him like this." She looked as if she was going to break down again. Inuyasha always had that effect on their mother, he shared a special bond with her, if was not happy she was not happy. Sesshoumaru had more of a bond with their father, sometimes it was like they could read each other's minds.

"Actually, I was already planning to do just that. Maybe I could have Rin ask Kagome some questions."

"Good idea son, only a woman can get a woman to talk." Inutaisho looked up just as a piece of butter hit him in the face.

"I take that as an insult my husband."

Kagome didn't even bother to remove herself from bed that morning, what was the point. She knew that Inuyasha would not be out there to pick her up, she knew that she wouldn't see him leaning against the side of the car with that sexy smirk on his face. She almost started to cry again just thinking about it.

Her mother had come in the room minutes ago to tell her she didn't have go to school if she didn't want to. Kagome didn't think she could ever go to school again, not when she would see him and defiantly not to see Kikyou. And she knew that once the word got around school that she and Inuyasha weren't together anymore, girls would be all over him and she didn't think she could stand that either not when she had three classes with him.

Her mother said they would find away to stop this, but the only way that would happen is if they could pay the taxes. The price was too high and she had given up hope. She buried her herself under the covers trying to sleep it all away.

Sesshoumaru told Rin about Inuyasha and she agreed to help find out, but they were both disappointed and suspicious when Kagome had not come to school either. Rin told him that she would call Kagome after school, and Sesshoumaru would try some of his mind tricks to get Inuyasha to crack. It was the only way get information out of his stubborn brother and even with them you could only get small amounts before Inuyasha would catch himself and stop talking.

Kikyou could have laughed out loud, it was too sweet. Inuyasha and Kagome were both absent and she knew why, but she would have to call the guy she had watching Kagome's house to make sure they were not out spending one last day together or something, but it was still to perfect. She was getting her revenge and no one could stop her.

Inuyasha jumped up and picked up his phone off his nightstand. He had been lying in bed thinking of how he could talk to Kagome, he thought of letters but he really wanted to hear her voice. And then it hit him, if Kikyou was at school she couldn't listen in on the phone tap, and maybe he could talk to Kagome's mom and tell her to tell Kagome to call his brother's cell phone. Sesshoumaru wouldn't ask too many questions, but what if Kikyou had people listening to the tap for her? It would take the chance.

He picked up the phone and dialed her number that he knew by heart.

"Hello?"

"Hey Mrs. H, it's me Inuyasha"

"Oh my goodness Inuyasha! I thought that girl had a tap on your phone!?"

"You know about Kikyou?"

"Yes, Kagome told me the whole story in tears, I'm so sorry that you two have to go through this."

"I know, can you give a message to Kagome for me?"

"Why don't you tell her yourself, she was too depressed to go to school today as I'm guessing you were, but what about the phone?"

"I figured if Kikyou's at school then she can't be listening to the tap."

"That sounds reasonable, let me take the phone to her."

When she walked into Kagome's room the lights were off and she was asleep. She walked over to the bed and gently shook her.

"Kagome wake up, Inuyasha is on the phone."

Kagome's eyes snapped open and she jerked the phone away from her mother.

"Hello Inuyasha?"

"Kagome are you okay?"

"No" She didn't even try to stop herself when she started to cry. Her mother left her alone to talk to him.

"How are we going to do this, I don't think I can just ignore you and not be with you."

"We just have to find a secret way to be together."

"Like what, she has people watching my house, they'll notice."

"She said that you can't be seen with me, she didn't say anything about you not being able to go with other friends so maybe we could tell Miroku and Sango and they could drive you over here, but it can't be every day or she will figure it out."

"I think I can do that"

"We can talk all we want right now until school gets out then we have get off because she'll be at home on the tap. I'll call Miroku and tell him later."

"Have you told your father?"

"No, that will just make it worse, he'll go nuts."

They talked for hours until it was time to let each other go. Inuyasha promised that he wouldn't be kept away from her. And they let each other go feeling a little better than before. Inuyasha decided it was time to call Miroku, but needed to it on the separate phone line in his father's office. He wasn't allowed to use that line, it was strictly for business, but this was important.

`Sango will probably want to kill Kikyou, Miroku won't be too happy either.'

He snook into the office and dialed the number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Miroku, you're not going to believe this, you better sit down."
