I have finals next week and then finally freedom for two whole weeks!!

Ayame woke up hearing people calling her name. At first her vision was blurry but then everything came into focus, her coach and teammates were all crowded around her with worried looks.

"What happened?" She slowly tried to sit up and winced at the pain she felt flash through her head.

"You passed out, I think maybe you've been practicing too hard Ayame. I want you to take some time off."

"No, I'm fine, I don't need to."

"No, you're not going to over work yourself. I'm pulling you from the game next week."

"Coach!?"

"That's final Ayame! Now I want you to go home and rest, where is your boyfriend?"

"He should be back by now."

"I can take you home, Ayame."

Ayame got up and followed her friend Yuriko to her car, she was still mad that coach had pulled her from the game.

"I can't believe this! I pass out once and she pulls me!"

"Well passing out is pretty bad."

"Maybe it was just a faint"

"That's still bad."

"Yeah well I need to find Kouga so he won't drive all the way back to school looking for me."

They were heading for the bridge and noticed all the police cars jammed on it, and one side of the bridge had been roped off with yellow tape.

"Wow, you don't think someone went over do you?" Yuriko stopped the car and they both got out to see what had happened. Ayame's heart skipped a beat when she saw the crane pull Kouga's car over edge of the bridge, without him inside.

"HEY! WE GOT A BODY!!" Everyone ran to the other side of the bridge were another policeman was waving a nightstick, looking over into the river you could see the body of a young male floating face down in the water.

"KOUGA!!"

Ayame started to yell his name for all she was worth and three police officers along with Yuriko were doing their best to hold her back and keep her from jumping over the edge of bridge.

"LET ME GO!! THAT'S MY BOYFRIEND!! THAT'S MY BOYFRIEND!!"

"Miss please calm down! We're sending divers in to retrieve the body!"

"DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT LIKE HE'S DEAD!! DON'T FUCKING SAY THAT LIKE HIS DEAD!!!"

By now streams of tears were making their way down her face and when saw them pull her boyfriend's unmoving body out of the water she just sobbed hard into Yuriko's shirt, who was crying too but not as hard as Ayame.

When they found a faint pulse an ambulance was called to take Kouga to the hospital immediately, but because she was too hysterical the police wouldn't let Ayame go with him, that's when Yuriko offered to drive her, herself.

It had been three hours sense Kouga was admitted into the hospital, and Ayame and Yuriko left to worry in the waiting room, two hours and fifty-five minutes sense Ayame called Kouga's parents to tell them of what happened to their son, two hours and thirty minutes sense Kouga's parents came barging into the hospital with his father demanding to know how this happened and his mother just as torn up and teary as Ayame had been we she saw him in the water. It had been two hours sense the detective told them all that the brake lines in Kouga's car had been cut and promising that he would get to the bottom of this but not without a warning from Kouga's father Hasake of what would happen if he didn't. One hour and fifty minutes sense the doctor came out and told them that they had pumped about a half quart of water off Kouga's lungs and that he was now in a coma and they were doing all they could for him, and when Kouga's mother started to break down again and Hasake took her home to rest.

One hour and forty-five minutes sense Yuriko called Miroku, who called Sango, who called Kagome, who called Inuyasha and he told his brother and Rin who was also in his brother's room at the time and told them what happened. Fifty minutes sense they all came rushing into the hospital to see Kouga, which they couldn't do because of his condition and trying consol Ayame who still refused to go home until she saw her boyfriend.

Ayame was sleeping in a chair when the doctor came and woke her up to tell her that Kouga had stabilized and that she could see him, he had also given up on trying to get the girl to go home.

At first Ayame thought she had been led to the wring room because sleeping in the bed hooked to God knows how many machines didn't look like her Kouga. Her Kouga had tan, almost bronze skin and was full of life; this person lying motionless in the hospital bed was deathly pale and looked to be on the brink of death. But it was him, her Kouga and this half dead young man were one and the same as hard as it was to believe.

Ayame pulled a chair up next to the bed and slipped her hand inside his, his hand was cold and so was his whole body possibly. Ayame remembered the day that Naraku had came up to her and how angry Kouga was when she had told him, her thoughts went that same night when they were sitting in her driveway…

Flashback

"Ayame I love you. I did have a thing for Kagome back in ninth grade but I found you. I know Kagome is one of your friends and she's mine too, I only think of her as a sister now. I don't want you taking what Naraku said to your head, I love you not Kagome."

"I know you love me, so what is with you calling Kagome your woman?"

A big grin came over Kouga's face and Ayame couldn't help but smile.

"Can you think of anything that makes dog turd madder because I can't!"

"You two are going to stop fighting one day Kouga"

"Yeah but it ain't today!"

"One day me and Kagome are just going to let you two go at it and finish this rivalry thing off once and for all."

"You know I'll win! Come on I'm taking you out and buying you something beautiful."

"Kouga you don't need to buy me anything beautiful."

"I was calling you beautiful, and I want to buy you something."

He pulled out of her driveway and took her to one of best jewelry stores in the city and bought her a diamond tennis bracelet.

End flashback

Ayame held her unconscious boyfriend's hand while she stared at him then the bracelet he had gotten her only a day ago.

`I can't lose him, I don't know what I would do without you Kouga.'

"Kouga please wake up." She said as tears started to flow again, she didn't even bother to wipe them away just held on tighter to his hand.

That when the nurse came in to check on the young man in coma she noticed a young girl sleeping in the chair next to the bed and couldn't help but feel sorry for them both.

It took forever just to write this chapter, because, I was being distracted by mom dancing around the house to 80's music! I hope she never does that in public!
