Kagome tapped the end of her number 2 pencil against her hardwood desk as her teacher droned on and on about something she had long ago chose to drown out. She could hear two giggly girls behind her talk under their laughter about how cute Hojo had looked today. Kagome quickly whipped around and gave them a menacing glare. They quickly stopped but continued when Kagome turned back around.

Everyone knew that Hojo and Kagome had something going on, but most girls just found themselves being even more attracted to the school's “perfect boy” now that he had somewhat of a girlfriend. And even though Hojo was said to be perfect, Kagome matched him physically in being a very good-looking person. She had long black hair with bangs that went over deep brown eyes and a slim, curvy figure that made the school uniform look exceptionally well.

In the midst of her pencil-tapping, Kagome jumped when she heard the much anticipated ringing that announced the end of the school day. She gathered up her books, shot one last glance at the girls behind her, and left the classroom walking as fast as possible. She jet down the hallway, ignoring curious expressions as she passed by. She had an appointment to be in the arms of someone that made her heart beat fast and her knees go weak and she wasn't going to be late and waste one second of experiencing that. She burst through the school's front doors and set her eyes on a tall figure standing across the parking lot, leaning on a black corvette. Kagome smiled to herself as she neared Hojo, dropping her bag on the black pavement, and jumping into a passionate kiss she had been waiting for all day. Hojo pulled back after a few minutes and ran his hands through her raven locks.

“How'd I get so lucky?” Kagome giggled and squeezed him tighter.

“So are you going to take me home today? I have to go up to the old well and sweep it out before my mother gets home.” Kagome asked. Hojo nodded and regretfully released her so that she could happily walk-skip to the other side of the car.

The drive to Kagome's house was full of stares, little smiles, and thoughts of what they would do when they got out. The corvette pulled into Kagome's small driveway minutes later and the two quickly exited the car and were back into each other's arms without a second to waste. Kagome laid her head against Hojo's chest as he kissed the top of her head lightly.

“I love you Hojo.” She said softly. Kagome suddenly noticed that Hojo's embrace became looser and colder. She feared the look on his face so she decided she wouldn't let go; not for anything in the world. Several uncomfortable and silent minutes flew by before she heard Hojo speak.

“I love you too.” Kagome lifted her head and looked into his eyes. He meant it. This moment had been dreamt up all her life and now here it was. She stepped back and took his hands into hers.

“I was thinking about us. And I wanted to take our relationship into the next level. Please come by tonight. My family will be out for a while.” She smiled at him and he smiled back.

“Are you sure you're ready?”

“As ready as I'll ever be.”

“I love you,” Hojo pulled her back to him and brought his lips to hers in a soft and loving way, “I have to go to work now. But I'll call you later and…I'll see you tonight.” He felt his cheeks hotten and turn a rosy pink. Kagome giggled and kissed him one last time before he broke their embrace and walked back to his car. As he turned on the engine he stared at her through his window. I'm going to marry that girl. I love you Kagome. He pulled back and was driving down the street seconds later.

Kagome watched him drive away sadly, but at the same time could feel an excited fire burning inside of her. The urge to jump around in ridiculous happiness was overwhelming. She was finally going to make love with Hojo. Finally. After they had been crushing on each other for years and dating for 7 months, they were going to experience being together in a whole new way. Kagome was a virgin, and her first time was something she had been dreaming about for so long. And in every one of her fantasies, Hojo had been the one who's hands were running over her body and whose breathing had been just as rugged and full of lust as hers.

Except, once, she had fantasized about another boy who's face she couldn't see and whose name she couldn't speak. All she knew about him was his yellow eyes.

Kagome suddenly shook herself from the memory and rushed into her house. She had to sweep out the well house immediately. Quickly locating the broom she ran out eh back door and up the many stone steps that led to the great, old, well house that sat in the backyard.

This place had always made Kagome feel a strange way. She always felt as if someone could take her away here. As if the world was far away.

She began to sweep out the many cluttered leaves that littered the stone floor around the well. As she neared the well itself she suddenly stopped. Maybe it was her imagination…but was there a light emitting from the well? She cautiously inched forward, closer, closer, closer, until she could lean slightly and see into the darkness of the well. By now she had dropped her broom and placed her hands on the edge. Slowly she leaned over and peered into the suspicious light. No….It can't be. It's as if…there's something bright down there.

Kagome found herself leaning more over the edge than she planned. Soon her mind was completely consumed with the light, and her arm outstretched, reaching, for it. More and more her waist slipped over until she was hanging half and half over the well. Her feet were barely scraping the ground.

Suddenly she snapped back to reality and realized how far over she was and struggled to get her upper half back onto the ground. But as she squirmed to regain her balance her feet completely left the ground and her body lost balance and plummeted into the darkness of the well. Closer to the light. Kagome let out a scream that described the panic and fear she was experiencing as she fell farther and farther.

She was sure she was nearing a horrible death and just as she was about accept her fate the walls of the wall changed color, texture even and became…sky. Is that a SKY!?? AM IN THE SKY!??? OHMYGOD!!! THERE'S A FOREST BELOW ME! Kagome's mind completely scrambled to giver her answers as to why she was falling downward into a forest after falling into a well. It hadn't even dawned on her that she was plummeting to the ground and a crushing death because the shock of what happened numbed her senses.

It wasn't until she had fallen far enough and noticed a yellow-orange dirt path that she realized she was still falling to the ground at a fast pace. Kagome put her hands over her face as if that was would break her fall and prepared for hitting the ground, sure that it would kill her. But suddenly, she felt herself slowing down. Taking her arms away from her face she saw a well below her, and seconds later she landed clumsily on her knees next to it.

Kagome stood up open mouthed, wide eyed, and baffled at what had just happened. All she could do now was stare at the dirt path in front and dark green forest around her.
