InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ As the Band Plays ❯ The Crimson Tears ( Chapter 5 )
Kagome tugged at her outfit and looked around the backstage area listening to the girls set up. They had decided that they didn't want to risk her being seen at all as she was their new "secret weapon", as they put it.
Ayame bounced back behind the stage wearing hot pants made of a blue jean material and a wife beater that was slashed across the front exposing a sizable amount of cleavage. Her upper left arm had a spiraling silver ornament that had a wolf head at the top, with little rubies for eyes. She had on elbow length black lace gloves that had the fingers cut off and black and silver bangles on each wrist. Her boots came up to her ankles, and were black leather with a silver buckle across the front. She had her hair up in pigtails and tied off with black lacey ribbons.
As soon as she spotted Kagome, a smile blossomed out across her dainty face and she rushed over, "You look fantastic! Now, remember, we're starting off with Ai no Fuge, then we are going into Nazuna's number and then Sango and THEN we are bringing you in. Ok? So we are going to put the guitar and keyboard that you will need back here. The sound will be transferred in through the speakers so we'll still here it, they just won't know where it's coming from. Ok?"
Kagome nodded tugging at her skirt again very nervously, "And the mic?"
Ayame nodded, "There will be a mic back here too. Now, as soon as Sango gets done you come out. The smoke machines were my idea!" She beamed and then went prattling on about all the other effects they had planned out for Kagome's dramatic entrance.
She was starting to feel a bit uneasy about the whole thing but she decided that she was just going to leave it in the hands of the other three to know what they were doing. She REALLY wasn't that excited about the big deal they were making this into. There was nothing she could do about it now though. They were about to start.

An announcer came over the loud speaker within minutes, and the entire club fell silent.
"And now ladies and gentlemen, the moment you have all been waiting for: It's time for the bands to play! First up we have Crimson Tears; a local band whom we all know and love, but for those of you new here, here's the low down on the group. The main drummer is the beautiful temptress, Sango Rosemont, the lead singer and bass guitar wielder is the untouchable Nazuna Tsukino, and at the keyboard we have the most hyperactive person of the group, Ayame Hinckley. As most of you know, the lead guitarist of the group dropped out, but the band has already found a replacement, but so far it's a mystery to who the wonder woman is. Now, let's hear it for CRIMSON TEARS!!!!!!!!!"
The crowd erupted into applause as the girls took their places on stage. Everyone in the audience looked for the fourth member, but they were surprised to see she was nowhere to be found. Suddenly the girls started singing and the crowd fell silent to listen to their a capella beginning of the song. Suddenly out of no where the girls stopped singing and an eerie organ note played over the crowd. But Ayame wasn't at the keyboard! She was in front and she opened her mouth to start singing as Sango started tapping out the beat to the song in furious movements and Nazuna played the ostinato notes to the song.
Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis,
ad amorem properat
animus herilis
et iocundis imperat
deus puerilis.
Ayame opened her eyes as lights flashed over the stage and the girls began to move more with the music.
Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis.
Veris leta facies
mundo propinatur
hiemalis acies
victa iam fugator,
Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis,
Veris leta facies
mundo propinatur
hiemalis acies
victa iam fugator,
The girls stopped for a minute while the unseen organ player took of into their solo, a creepy luring tune being poured forth. Ayame stepped back up to the mic and flashed an uncanny smile to the audience
Tui Lucent oculi
sicut solis radii,
sicut splendor fulguris
lucem donat tenebris.
Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis,
Tui Lucent oculi
sicut solis radii,
sicut splendor fulguris
lucem donat tenebris.
Omnia Sol Temperat
purus et subtilis,
novo mundo reserat
facies Aprilis.
The girls finished off with a flourish and the crowd erupted with applause and whistles. Miroku and Kouga flashed each other a glance and smiled wickedly. The song had been purely amazing, but they had a plan that would sink them.
Inu Yasha sat on the other side of the two looking around the stage foully. He was trying to figure out where the hell that new girl was. Replacement for Kikyou… she looked just like the stupid whore. Probably acted just like her too. He huffed and sank further into his seat and downed another beer.
Sesshoumaru sat eyeing his older brother, and he just rolled his eyes. No amount of talking to him was going to get him to stop drinking before the performance; that was for damn sure. He, too, had been looking for Kagome. He had different things on his mind though. The girl would be just what he needed to snap Inu Yasha into his place. He had been rebelling against him too much lately, and his patience was wearing thin. Not that dating Kagome would be very unpleasant. Sesshoumaru felt a self-assured smirk covering his features. No it would be quite the opposite, of that he was sure.
Nazuna was taking her place at the microphone, amiss the wolf whistles and cat calls that were being thrown her way. She knew that Sesshoumaru and Inu Yasha were probably on the edges of their seats ready to go off and rip their throats out. She was wearing sandaled high heels that strapped up to her mid thigh and fishnet stockings. Her red leather skirt was clinging to her hips and thighs in a way that not much was left to the imagination, and her black shirt look painted on, though the paint wouldn't be covering much anyway, as the shirt scooped low on her chest and was completely sleeveless. It ended right above her navel and had little to no back. A large pink red amulet hung against the cleft of her breasts that seemed to catch attention to the cleavage even more so, even though god knew it wasn't needed. Her black hair was up in a high ponytail, exposing the smooth skin of her back and her wrists jangled with her bangles as she lifted her hands up to mic to start singing.
I was lying on the grass on Sunday morning of last week
indulging in my self defeats
my mind was thugged, all laced and bugged, all twisted round and beat
uncomfortable three feet deep
now the fuzzy stare from not being there on a confusing morning week
impaired my tribal lunar-speak
and of course you can't become if you only say what you would have done
so I missed a million miles of fun
I know it's up for me
if you steal my sunshine
making sure I'm not in too deep
if you steal my sunshine
keeping versed and on my feet
if you steal my sunshine
I was frying on the bench slide in the park across the street
l-a-t-e-r that week
my sticky paws were into making straws out of big fat slurpy treats
an incredible eight foot heap
now the funny glare to pay a gleaming tear in a staring under heat
involved an under usual feat
and I'm not only among but i invite who i want to come
so i missed a million miles of fun
I know it's up for me
if you steal my sunshine
making sure I'm not in too deep
if you steal my sunshine
keeping versed and on my feet
if you steal my sunshine
I know it's up for me
if you steal my sunshine
not something hard to see
if you steal my sunshine
keeping dumb and built to beat
if you steal my sunshine
My sunshine
if you steal my sunshine
As the song ended, the crowd again was an explosion of cheers and applause. Sango stepped up to the stage as Nazuna replaced her behind the drum set and Miroku was instantly glued to the stage. She was wearing knee high boots, a black leather skirt covered in zippers and a black leather shirt with a zipper all the way up the front. She had leather gloves on too with the fingers missing, and she was standing at the mic expectantly, before giving the girls the cue to start singing.
Tell me do you think it'd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see I'm in no shape for driving
And anyway I've got no place to go
And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best I'd ever had
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy
And you can trust me not to think
And not to sleep around
If you don't expect too much from me
You might not be let down
Cause all I really want is to be with you
Feeling like I matter too
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might be here with you
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy
She took my heart
There's only one thing I couldn't start
Sango stopped singing and the girls cheered along with the crowd. Nazuna stepped up to the microphone and waited for the applause to die down. When it finally lowered in volume to the chattering and clinking of glasses she nodded at Ayame who flipped the switch to the lights of the place.
"My dear audience… it's with my greatest pride and up most pleasure…" she began as the black lights went on in the back. Fog started pouring out across the stage and she grinned widely, "To introduce to you, the newest member of our group…"
Kagome, taking her cue stepped out from behind the backstage area into the light, and looked at the darkness around her.
"Kagome Higurashi!!" The audience was completely silent as they stared at the vision before them. The Sakura kimono had been sliced all the up the sides to her hips, but you couldn't see anything because of the red lacey thong that Nazuna had lent her to put on underneath it. The top of the kimono was hanging open, revealing a daring amount of cleavage, and the belt was tied securely around her waist. Her hair flowed freely around her waist as the lights rose a bit and she walked to the front of the stage to the microphone. Inu Yasha and the others were all agape at the transformation. Her body had been splashed in glittered in the stage lights. They were all stunned, even Sesshoumaru who couldn't even find it in himself to feel remorse over his demolished kimono. That was nothing, however as how they were to be the minute she opened her mouth and started to sing:
Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a blowtorch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning
So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
I promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep
It seems no one can help me now,
I'm in too deep; there's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray
Runaway train, never going back
Wrong way on a one-way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there
Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded?
Life's mystery seems so faded
I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just a-drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train
And everything seems cut and dried,
Day and night, earth and sky,
Somehow I just don't believe it
Runaway train, never going back
Wrong way on a one-way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there
Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughing at the rain
A little out of touch, a little insane
It's just easier than dealing with the pain
Runaway train, never going back
Wrong way on a one-way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there
Runaway train, never coming back
Runaway train, tearing up the track
Runaway train, burning in my veins
I run away but it always seems the same
As Kagome finished singing and the song ended the crowd continued in it's stunned silence, until out of no where a roar of applause that nearly blew the girls off the stage came at them. Kagome looked down blushing brightly, not knowing that she hadn't just caught the rival band's eye.
While Inu Yasha and the others were worrying how they were going to one up that performance, Kikyou stood in the back with Naraku and her two cronies, Kagura and Yura. Her beady eyes narrowed, "So this is who they have to replace me, eh?" She stared at Kagome, realizing that if the girl was a bit haughtier looking, she would have sworn they were identical twins. Naraku didn't answer her, he simply continued to stare at the girl and the way Inu Yasha had watched her intently all the way through the song. Maybe there was a chance for another blow to the boy.
