Reflections

`Where am I?'

That was the only question he could have asked in this space of nothingness. Nothing. The space was empty devoid of life, light, and hope.


"You Lord of the West, are dead." came a voice that resonated throughout the endless void he was being held in.

`Does this entity speak the truth? Am I The Great Lord of The West dead?'

"Tell me Lord Sesshoumaru what do you last remember?" came the voice again.

"Before I answer your question answer mine. Where am I ?" he asked again stoic and calm.

"You are neither in Heaven nor Hell. You are in Purgatory. The line between Heaven and Hell.

"I see. Why are no others here?" he asked.

"You have been living in your own personal Purgatory. No life loneliness awaits you unless you atone for your sins."

"How may I atone for my sins?" he asked opening his eyes to see that he was laying in a desert.

He looked around sniffed for a scent. Nothing. No scent of death, decay, life or another lost soul.

"I wonder..." Sesshoumaru said holding up a clawed hand and slightly slashing his hand. Not even the slightest bit of blood dripped.

His anger rose at the realization. He was dead. A low growl escaped his throat and he began to run through the wasteland.

"Lord Sesshoumaru you cannot escape by conventional means." that voice seemed to follow him as he stampeded through the nightmare created for him.

He came to a halt at the sound of the voice. `Cannot escape by conventional means.' "If I cannot leave this place this way tell me how."

"If you wish to leave you must atone for your sins." he said again

"Tell me of how to atone for them." he said impassively turning as if he were going to see the true source of the voice.

"You will first need to travel to the edge of this nightmare to meet me. On your way you will find memories of those you hurt and in each sighting your test of atonement will been shown."

"I see. Tell me where to go." he commanded.

"Your path will be clear once you begin. For now follow your instincts. Go to your home."

"Before I go one my quest tell me something."

"Yes Lord Sesshoumaru."

"What of the human girl. Is she safe."

"She is safe."

He held back a sigh at the contentment he felt knowing she was safe. ` he can rest easy knowing she lives.'

"Lord Sesshoumaru how are you coping with your death?"

The question caught him off guard and he halted his advance at the question.

"That is none of your business."

There was a chuckle that seemed to mock him in his most defensive state.

"This death isn't saddening nor is it worth mourning." he stated continuing quest.

"If it isn't why does Rin cry for you."

He was caught off guard again at the information.

`Rin...crying for me? Why?'

"Because she loves you Lord Sesshoumaru."

His eyes widened slightly not only at the invasion of his mind but the words he spoke.

"If this is true show me." he stated

"Very well, as you wish."  After the entity spoke those words the sky opened showing a small girl holding what seemed to be a piece of cloth and flowers weeping over a plot of land.

"Lord Sesshoumaru Rin wishes you were back....*sniffle* Rin misses you so much and Rin wanted to always be with you....*sniffle*"

The sky closed up and Sesshoumaru stared blankly into the sky where it had opened.

"Are you convinced now Lord Sesshoumaru?"

He didn't answer. Just continued his journey in silence ignoring the question completely.

He walked for what seemed like hours in silence until it was broken when he asked a simple question.

"Tell me entity, what is your name."

"We have met before you have just blocked me out for many years."

"If we have met tell me who you are."

"I am you Lord Sesshoumaru. I am your other half , your guardian angel a conscience if you will that has been long since locked away."
