Shrine of The Dog
The day's events seemed to pass by as if the world had stopped spinning for the two lovers or at least that is what Kagome thought. She watched him after their intimate encounter looking for signs of regret but it seemed that he was reverting back to his stoic façade once again. He hadn't spoken to her all day and she was beginning to think he was only gassing her up with thoughts of love. She quickly decided that if she wanted her Sesshomaru back she was going to help him do it. Kagome marched up to him from her position in the hands on her hips and fuming. All he did was stare at her with emotionless eyes that instantly broke her initiative. She could only look at him with sad eyes tears clouding at the terrible revelation that he didn't love her.
“Kagome…” Sesshomaru began. Before he could finish she ran out of the hut in fear of what he might tell her, but before she could get two feet away from him he grabbed both her shoulders and pulled her close to him. She closed her eyes and turned away not wanting to look into his eyes and find the truth. He held her shaking form for some time until she stopped and opened her eyes to look at him. She gasped at the look on his face, that look, the look of care and sincerity shown through his molten gold gaze and bore into her soul. Before she could explain her actions his lips were sealed to hers in a passionate kiss. Wide-eyed and confused Kagome stared at him in shock before succumbing to his seductive lips. Her body molded to his as he probed her sweet mouth with his tongue taking in her soft lips and curves. Their hands explored each others clothed bodies but skin to skin contact was their goal. Sesshomaru quickly scooped her up and took back into the hut planting her on the futon. He slowly began to undress her removing her obi and was about to complete the task when someone crashed into the hut. Kagome was mortified quickly covering herself when she noticed who it was.
“Rin! W...what are you doing here!” She cried pushing Sesshomaru off of her.
“Kagome. I thought you loved Sesshom-“ she stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of the man Kagome had been with. His long silver hair, his ears, was this man truly Sesshomaru? No! He died! Rin was conflicted was that her Sesshomaru-sama or an imposter?
“Sesshoumaru-sama is it really you?” Rin asked shakily. Sesshoamru watched her steadily as if analyzing her trying to remember her from his past. His mind ached and the sheer force he was using to make these memories resurface was draining and soon it was too much and he passed out.

He woke several hours later as the sun was setting on the quiet day. His head throbbing like he had been knocked over the head. His vision clear and was greeted by two worried faces instantly smiling at his consciousness. He tried to prop himself up on his elbows but was shoved back onto the bed by the two women. They stared at him for a while before Rin spoke, “Where are his marking?” Kagome hadn't really noticed that until now and it reminded her of their journey return his memory.
Throughout the night the Kagome informed Rin of the events that had started with Sesshomaru's reincarnation leading up to their most intimate moment. Kagome's blush darkened as she skipped over the details knowing Sesshomaru wouldn't want her to tell of their relationship. Sesshomaru stared quiet most of the time keeping to himself nodding his head in response until Rin asked him a complex question.
“Sesshomaru-sama?” She began. His gaze turned to her, analyzing her.
“Yes Rin.” He answered calling her as he heard Kagome do assuming it was her name.
“Do you remember me?” She asked quietly lowering her head. He stared at her flashes of memories coming back to him in segments flooding his mind. He paused for a few moments until they stopped before answering her.
“Yes I do Rin. You were my ward my adopted child. I was, a Father to you.” He replied patting her on the crown of her head affectionately. Her head raised her eyes puff and read her body shaking as she launched herself at him clinging to him for dear life. He returned the affection patting her on her back softly and whispering to her. “Rin. My Rin, you've matured. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. Please forgive me.” She sobbed into his chest happily mumbling incoherent words. He managed to understand a few of her words.
“Sesshomaru-sama… I'm so happy.” He smiled slightly at the kind words patting her head and looking to a smiling Kagome. Her face said it all she was happy for the reunion of Rin and her father figure. She was to occupied with Sesshomaru and Rin that she forgot about what they were supposed to do today. Kagome brushed the thought away and excused herself leaving the hut to go think. The sky had darkened and night had fallen upon the forest. She walked deep into the forest to rethink what she really wanted. Sesshomaru was back but he wasn't the same he wasn't, whole, he wasn't complete. He wasn't her Sesshomaru the one she fell in love with the arrogant pride filled demon lord who promised to protect her the demon lord who loved her. Tears slid from her eyes as she remembered all of her moments with Sesshomaru up until his death. Soon she felt strong arms circle her. She knew who it was and tried to pry herself from his hold, failing.
“What bothers you, Kagome?” he asked quietly. His voice seemed to mesmerize her very soul enticing her to cast her thoughts of this incomplete Sesshomaru away. She finally escaped his hold and turned to face him completely staring into his eyes.
“Sesshomaru, I promised to follow you until you complete yourself but…” her voice trailed off not wanting to know the reaction she would get from him.
“I'm not in love with this Sesshomaru. I…I love the real Sesshomaru.” She whispered hoping he would hear it and accept it. He stared at her for a moment and then answered with a simple, “I see.” She was shocked to say the least but when he started to walk away she panicked and chased after him.
“Wait!” she yelled, “ I still want to help you become whole again it's just that your not the Sesshomaru I loved.” He only nodded and continued his walk back to the hut leaving Kagome alone. She stopped him again before he got far and whispered, “In the morning I'll take you to the Shrine of The Dog and you will let your people know that their lord is back.”

As the Sun rose the two companions made the journey to the Shrine of The Dog. The two traveled quicker than Kagome had thought. With Sesshomaru' demon speed it only a few hours to get to the shrine. When they arrived it was mid morning and the sun was high in the sky. The shrine was hidden within a deep forest that few dared to travel to. The sheer beauty of the shrine was more than enough to make anyone want to see it even if only for once in a lifetime. Two golden dog demon statues were placed at the front of the shrine two guards stood at the entrance greeted Kagome but stopped Sesshomaru. They stared at him shocked at the resemblance of him to the late Lord Sesshomaru. Kagome quickly took his hand and escorted him inside. As they walked through the shrine golden statues of past lords greeted them. They stopped when they found one of Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru stared at it taken back by the sheer thought of once being dead. Kagome grabbed his hand once again and took him to the back of the shrine where they found a door sealed with a bowl. The door read, “Royal blood shall open this door.”
“Sesshomaru, are you sure you want to do this.” She asked cautiously. His hesitant nod worried her. He took one of his clawed fingers and swiftly cut his wrist pouring the blood into the bowl. He watched as the blood seeped into the door and it slowly opened revealing armor, a haori, a hakama and shoes.
“Those are your cloths. Go on put them on see what happens.” She encouraged. He slowly walked to the clothing and removed his cloths. Kagome tried not to look at his naked form but the temptation was too much. He smirked as she burnt a hole in his back.
“Do you like what you see Kagome?” he asked teasing her for her perverseness. She deeply blushed and turned away not wanting to answer. When she heard his chuckle she turned around to see a fully clothed Sesshomaru dressed in his formal haori and hakama. The only change in his appearance was his markings; he had got his markings back. Kagome smiled knowing that she was one step closer to regaining her Sesshomaru.
