As they walked through a narrow pathway near the crop fields, many men working stopped and folded their hands. There was comments made but all were such good and wonderful comments. `She is a true blessing among the village', a man said with bliss. `We are very fortunate to have such a kind miko-dono', another one complied. `Curing illnesses and keeping the children healthy and happy', and another one add.

Over yonder was a horde of demons flying, Mikado and the children were not worried about the demons but Inuyasha and his friends were. When the demons flew straight from the village, they flew over it, as though it was invisible.

“I had placed a barrier to keep demons from seeing the village and protect them if they do see the village, “replied Mikado, as if she knew what they were thinking.

As Mikado kept walking, her vision began to get blurred out. She blinked to make it disappear but made it worse. In her eyes, she only saw blobs of what the figures were and shadow. She heard the voices of the children and Inuyasha. The next thing that she knew, she had fallen on the ground and passed out. Everything was pitch black and quiet, oh so quiet.

Mikado felt hot and sick. She knew that she was sick but she didn't want it to show. She woke up by a flickering lit candle, staring at the ceiling of the house. She slightly turned her head and found Inuyasha sitting on, staring through the opened paper doors. Her eyes were so heavy that she felt like sleeping but she did not want to sleep.

“I-Inu-ya-sha…”

Inuyasha shot open and ran toward the sickly Mikado.

“What are you doing awake, you have to sleep Mikado.” Inuyasha spoke, very concerned about her health, “sleep some more”.

“But the barrier...” Mikado was ready to argue but Inuyasha cut her off.

“I will protect you and the villagers” Inuyasha argued back.

“Aright” And with that, Mikado drifted back into her state of sleep.

Inuyasha stared at the sleeping miko. It was so tempting to hold her in his arms and let him fall asleep holding her, yet he unreasonably resisted the urge. Inuyasha went to his room 8 rooms away from Mikado's and slept, feeling unsure of himself.

That night, an ominous aura flew pasted the village yet landed at the entrance. He silently passed through the barrier and dismissed his demonic aura so he can slither to Mikado's room. He wore nothing but a baboon palate, nothing else was shown that could tell if he was Hanyou or Youkai. He entered Mikado's room and stared at the ill miko.

“This is the great Mikado,” he chortled sinisterly. “What a shame,”

As he started to walk over, Mikado was ready to fight back if he ever tried to harm her. He stopped midway, already knowing that she was awake the whole time. Through the mask, his eyes shone curiosity. Her head turned directly in his direction; eyes opened. Though she was ill, she still had enough strength to purify demons.

“What is your name, demon?” Mikado questioned

“Naraku,” spoke Naraku, as though it was a family reunion.

Her eyes squinted, as though she was seeing something else. Then she started to chuckle; something about Naraku amused her. A small grin was clear across her face, making the thin line disappear.

“You are Hanyou, are you not?” She implied.

Naraku did not answer that time for he knew he was also a Hanyou as well. He continued to stare at the moonlit face of the Shinto miko. Her head rolled back to facing the ceiling, eyes open still. There was a moment of silence between the two. The blacken skies had the pale, white moon shone with stars. The green grass faded dark. Some animal noise came above and beyond the horizontal view. With crickets chirping their song and the wind humming a gentle tune, shaking the trees with bustling sounds.

As he stared, he noticed the glimmering reflection of Mikado's eyes were gone, covered by her eyelids. She had fallen asleep. Onigumo's heart was beating at regular pace but some feeling or something was beating slowly. His breathing became uneven for the first time. Naraku felt as though some form of pressure was killing him. He swiftly left the room and out the village. Then the pressure had stopped.

`What was that feeling?' Naraku thought deeply, `what was it?'
