Autumn Warmth

 

 

The sun was setting as a young girl sat up on a cliff watched the different colors of the sky blend together and darken into violet for night to take place. The girl also watched as the full moon rose up from the east and illuminated the sky in place of the sun.

 

Beautiful.

 

Kagome fiddled with a lily flower between her fingers as her lips curled into a small smile.

 

She loved Inuyasha.

 

The young Miko was positive about this piece of information. She loved his deep golden eyes that expressed emotion as clear as the night sky she was watching right now. She loved the way he smiled at her when she located a jewel shard. She loved the gruff softness of his voice. She especially loved how they would joke around with eachother and act like long-time friends when no one else was around.

 

But most of all, she loved when they argued. Kagome loved how his amber eyes would darken in rage and his scowl would deepen at her. She loved how he would yell at her, but then risk his life for her the next minute when danger came…

 

… and if she had the chance, she would give her life up for his without a second thought.

 

Kagome looked behind her with her stormy eyes to see if Inuyasha had come to get her yet.

 

She had left the campsite sometime a couple hours ago to come and watch the sun-set. That was her excuse anyway. She really wanted to think over the events of the day. Her and Inuyasha had spent the whole day together because Sango and Miroku had left to exterminate a demon in a different village and had brought Shippo with them.

 

They had walked through the village and the whole time, they held hands! THEY HELD HANDS!!!!!!!

 

Yeah, it's not a confession of undying love, but it's better then nothing. Kagome just hopes that deep down he cares about her in some way.

A LOT more than just friends…

 

It hurt everytime Kagome tried to imagine them in that kind of relationship because she knew that Inuyasha was going to go to Hell with Kikyo in the end. It didn't matter that Kagome didn't want him to change but Kikyo did. It didn't matter. Kikyo always wins.

 

Kagome felt something cold drip down her face as her body shook in an involountarily shiver violently. It had gotten colder as the sun had sank without her noticing, her being too enraptured in her thoughts. Kagome touched her hand to her face and discovered it to be tears.

 

The fifteen year old let the cold envelope her body as icy droplets swam down her face.

 

“Kagome…” A voice a couple feet behind her gasped silently, though she didn't notice.

 

Inuyasha had come out looking for Kagome, being his usual over-protective self. He had followed her scent out to this cliff and had to gasp out her name, he was so overwelmed by her beauty. There was a white lily sitting in her hand as the wind of the cold night played with her silky ebony tresses that fell to the curve of her hips. The moon that illuminated the rest of the world illuminated her and made her skin glow as a goddess' would. Her skirt was hiked up baring her creamy pale legs to his powerful gaze. Kagome was facing the moon as her beautiful stormy eyes swirled with new tears and old tears pearled down her celestial face.

 

Inuyasha crouched down behind her and took off his fire-rat haori. The hanyou then draped it across her shoulders, shielding her from the cold night. Kagome gasped and looked up at Inuyasha with teary stormy eyes. Before she knew what was happening, Kagome found herself trapped in his strong arms. The claws that had killed thousands of demons were now combing through her hair gently trying to soothe her tears.

 

“Don't cry, Kagome. Please don't cry.”

 

Hearing him whisper soothing words into her ear only increased the feeling of pain inside her. How could he yell and insult her one minute, and the next hold her and whisper loving words In her ear?

 

When Inuyasha smelt even more salt on her scent of vanilla and rasberries he tightened his grip on her waist.

 

“What's wrong? Whatever it is I did, I'm so sorry. Please don't cry Kagome…don't cry.”

 

Kagome used her hands to push herself away from his well-built chest.

 

“It's not your falt. It's just me being my weak human self with my weak human emotions while I cry over the fact that my weak human body will never, ever be able to kiss you again because Kikyo is prettier than me, smarter than me, can shoot an arrow better than me, and her miko powers are stronger than mine, any man would be insane to pick me over her. So can you please stop holding me like you hold Kikyo, and stop whispering beautiful things in my ear like you give a shit I exsist.”

 

Inuyasha pulled Kagome impossibly closer with each word she spoke, and his amber eyes burned holes into her creamy neck.

 

“Don't you ever speak about yourself that way. You are the strongest, most beautiful, and intelligent woman I have ever met and don't you dare go around thinking I don't care about you. I love you, Kagome.”

 

Kagome didn't have time to even gasp before Inuyasha's lips dominated hers in a demanding lip-lock. Kagome finally felt the shock wear off and gasped. Inuyasha took this opportunity to plunge his tounge into her mouth and explore all the depths of her. Kagome slowly started to move her tounge in slow movements. When Inuyasha felt her start to kiss back, he growled fiercely and kissed her back with a doubled force.

 

Kagome felt her knees buck under his administrations and would have fallen if it weren't for Inuyasha grabbing her thighs and wrapping her legs around his waist.

 

Kagome felt Inuyasha's lips leave her and she opened her eyes. His amber eyes were giving her a gentle look that shone all the love and care he held for Kagome. He lifted his hand and let it caress her face. Kagome stopped thinking and let her lips move on their own.

 

“Love `ya, too.” Was all she could squeek out.

 

They both smiled and looked into eachother's eyes.

 

Kagome shivered and they both realized how cold it was. Inuyasha lifted Kagome up bridal style and ran off into the forrest. Kagome's laugh sounded like music in his ears.

 

“Where are we going?” Inuyasha stopped .

 

He smirked down at her darkly. Kagome's smile fell from her lips. Inuyasha let his face dip down to her neck and he took her earlobe in between his fangs. Kagome shivered

 

“Here.” Kagome looked around and saw that they were back at the campsite. While Kagome was gone, Inuyasha must have built up the fire, because it was very warm.

 

Inuyasha sat down at the base of a tree with Kagome in his lap. Kagome blushed at his forwardness. The young miko gazed everywear but at him. She saw that the gold and orange colored leaves of the tree were falling out and there weren't any animals she could see. Just signs of the winter. Kagome finally decided to spare a glance at him, only to see burning, lust filled eyes boring holes into her stormy eyes, now dried of tears.

 

“So… how've you been?”She said, not knowing what else to say.

 

Inuyasha smirked at her flushed state and unecesary question.

 

“I've been fi- INUYASHA!!” Kagome didn't get to answer her question as said hanyou pounced on her. He snatched each of her wrists and held them above her head with one hand. Inuyasha brought his knees up so he was straddling her. Kagome's blush darkened down to her shoulders as he took his other hand and traced her lips before bringing his down to hers again in a gentle kiss, unlike the one he had delivered to her moments ago on the cliff. His soft lips gently coaxed hers to open up and let him in. Kagome obeyed his silent demand and opened her mouth. Inuyasha slowly slid his rough tounge against her softer one and let go of her wrists. Kagome let herself get lost in the kiss as she slid her hands around his neck.

 

Inuyahsa let his mouth slide down from her mouth so he could deliver soft nips and kisses to her jaw and neck line. Kagome moaned. Music to his ears.

 

He was about to go lower, but noticed Kagome's state of dress.

 

“Why'd you stop?” Inuyasha didn't answer. Instead he took his claws and slashed through her shirt and bra. “I love you Inuyasha, but I can't be your mate. It just wouldn't make me look good. A pure miko such as myself with a lowly half-demon. I'm sorry. I shouldn't of let it get this far. I was only intending to bed yo, for my peasureu. I will not be your mate.”

 

Inuyasha's eyes let one tear roll down as Kikyo put her robes back on and headed away into the forrest.

 

End Flashback

 

That's one of the main reasons he tried to push Kagome away. He didn't want to be hurt like that again.

 

Inuyasha closed his eyes, not wanting to see the look of pity come into her eyes like when he was with Kikyo.

 

Kagome smiled and arched her neck to kissed him chastely.(a/n: Is chastely even a word??)

 

“I don't care Inuyasha. I love you and you know it. If people make the mistake of thinking you a lowly halfdemon and calling you names, then they'll have me to deal with and you know how I get when I'm mad.”

 

Inuyasha's eyes widened at her words. She wasn't going to leave him. Inuyasha bent down and kissed her gently, he then let his lips lide across her cheek to her ear.

 

“I'm sorry.”
