Chapter One: A Suggestion

"I wanna spend a week with you."

Kagome blinked. Maybe I didn't hear him correctly. "What did you say," she said.

"I said I wanna spend a week with you," Inuyasha repeated, his face turning red. "I wanna know more about what you do in your world. That school thing you do, I wanna see more of it."

"But a whole week?" Kagaome asked. "What if something happens-"

"It's been quiet for six weeks," Inuyasha interrupted. "You've went back to your world for more than 5 days already. We'd only be gone for a week."

Kagome pondered the idea. Inuyasha was right. It had been quite a while since the last time they had any type of battle, and everyone was growing restless. Sango, Shippo and Miroku helped Kaede and other's take care of the village. Inuyasha busied himself by picking fights with everyone. That day, Kagome was able to pull Inuyasha away from Shippo before he could clobber him. They were sitting under a tree not to far from the village.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. School's out for summer break, so I don't have to worry about homework for a while. But still… Kagome glanced at Inuyasha, who was scratching himself. She groaned inwardly. Would he even be able to control himself in my world? So much stuff happened the last time… The image of a three little kids playing fetch with Inuyasha flashed in her mind. He had saved the kids from the abusive father that had cornered them in an alley when they were trying to run away. Kagome giggled as she thought about the fetch game.

"What's so funny?" asked Inuyasha.

Kagome shook her head. "Nothing," she said.

"So, we going or not?"

Kagome still hesitated. "Is it really safe to leave?"

"Yeah dammit!"

"Don't yell at me!"

"Don't stall!"

Kagome folded her arms. Why do we always fight over such stupid stuff? She glanced at Inuyasha. He glared back at her, waiting for a comeback. Kagome sighed. Even their constant bantering can get boring after a while.

"Fine," she said. "Let's go."

Inuyasha's ears twitched with surprised. He suddenly got suspicious. "You giving in?!" he said. "Is this a trick? No `sit' huh?"

"You want one?"

"Hmph." Inuyasha turned away from her, heading back to the village.

"Sit!"

"Here you go, Inuyasha," Kagome's mother handed Inuyasha a bag. "I hope these fit you."

"Thanks!" said Inuyasha. Kagome's mother gave him a smile. "I'm going to go start on lunch. Kagome, would you like to help while Inuyasha changes?"

Kagome got up from her chair and followed her mother. Mom's always so sweet. She didn't have to go out and buy those clothes for him.

Kagome's family were pretty used to Inuyasha sudden appearances. Souta was ecstatic that Inuyasha was staying for a week. Buyo, Kagome's pet cat, had mysteriously disappeared.

"What will you to do while Inuyasha is here?" Mrs. Higurashi asked Kagome once they reached the kitchen.

"He wants to go grocery shopping," said Kagome. "And I think I'll show him the school after lunch."

"What a nice date," said Mrs. Higurashi.

Kagome was quick to reply. "It's not a date! I'm just showing him some stuff, that's all. He's just curious."

Mrs. Higurashi smiled sofly at her daughter's blushing face.

"Hey," a voice said behind them. "Is it supposed to look like this?" Inuyasha stepped into the kitchen. He was wearing a red sweatshirt over a pair of cuffed, dark blue jeans. One his feet were white and black sneakers with the laces untied.

"Umm, you look nice," Kagome said. "But tie your shoes up." If his hair wasn't so light, and he didn't have those ears, he'd look like an everyday kind of guy.

Inuyasha gave Kagome a blank stare. "Tie?" he asked.

"I'll show you," Kagome said, walking over to him.

Mrs. Higurashi smile widened.
