Chapter 1
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha
Kagome looked up to see the era's blue sky. She picked herself up off the ground and dusted off her uniform. She looked around suspiciously; she had a strange feeling, like something wasn't quite right. When she didn't see anything in the well she turned to the girl. She was standing there looking up, almost as if she wasn't paying attention to where she was. She opened her mouth to tell the girl that she would explain everything and take her home. The girl immediately looked at Kagome and put a hand over her mouth. She motioned for Kagome to be quite and listen.
At first Kagome wasn't sure whether she should be insulted or just listen to the girl. She decided the latter. She looked up and listened.
Outside of the well it sounded as if there was a great battle going on. That's when she figured out what she had felt before.
“Naraku.” Was all Kagome could think as she climbed up the vine and out of the well. She grabbed the side and pulled herself onto the edge. She stood up and surveyed her surroundings. She wasn't prepared for what she saw.
Bodies covered the clearing and it was soaked in blood. It wasn't a battle, it was a massacre. It was humans against demons. The humans had no chance; it was just farmers fumbling with warrior weapons.
She started frantically looking for her friends. She couldn't see them through all the blood and gore. Then she spotted Sango. She was off to the side of the clearing, lying unconscious on the ground and was covered in blood. Hiraikutsu was no where in sight. Kirara was standing guard over her mistress, making sure no demons got to her.
Looking farther into the battle she saw Miroku. He was leaning on his staff panting. He had just used his Wind Tunnel and had accidentally sucked up Naraku's poison bugs. He also had a gash running all down his arm and across his back.
And, fighting Naraku, was Inuyasha. There was a long gash along his chest and side. Blood was pouring down his stomach and on to the ground. He was starting to wear out from blood loss.
`Even Sesshoumaru is here.' Kagome thought as she saw a flash of silver and white fly through the air. He was fighting Kagura the Wind Sorceress and her sister Kanna. He was obviously winning, but wasn't in that great of shape either.
Naraku saw Kagome standing on the edge of the well and smirked. Shaking his long black hair out of his face he decided that she couldn't have come at a better time.
“Ah, young miko, you've decided to join us.” He looked at her, his eyes void of all emotions other then hatred.
“Kagome…” Inuyasha said softly. He looked like he was about to be sick.
“Yes?” Kagome said, starting to panic. The look on Naraku's face was starting to scare her. It made her body tingle and her blood run cold.
“Run!” Inuyasha screamed. He threw himself at Naraku trying to give Kagome time to run away. Naraku merely smirked.
Naraku side-stepped Inuyasha's attack and sent a tentacle straight for Kagome. Kagome stood frozen in horror as she watched the tentacle come at her full speed.
“Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled running towards her. Before he made it half way the well shattered, debris and dust flying everywhere. Inuyasha stopped dead in his tracks, anguish written all over his face. The battle stopped, like time was frozen, and everyone held their breath, waiting for the dust to clear.
When the dust finally cleared the well was completely destroyed and Kagome was gone. She vanished; everyone assumed she was buried under the debris.
Inuyasha ran to the destroyed well and started to frantically dig through the shattered pieces of wood looking for her. When he couldn't find her he stood up, his eyes darkening in sadness.
“Well, it looks like your precious miko is no more.” Naraku stated, his lips turning into a disgusting smile. He fed of the anguish of others, and watching the miko's companions suffer from their loss was such a treat.
“Think again asshole.” Off to the side of the well stood the strange women, Kagome in her arms. She looked at Naraku, her navy hair waving in the wind and her azure eyes shining in contempt.
“Your evil will not touch one of such purity and innocence.” She said turning. She looked back once more before disappearing.
Inuyasha didn't have time to react before Naraku was attacking again. He shot out two tentacles at Inuyasha. He dodged the first one but the second one knocked Tetseiga out of his hand and it flew off to the side. Inuyasha stood there for a second, thinking about whether he should go after Tetseiga or just attack. He didn't get the chance to decide before Naraku attacked and threw him across the clearing and into a tree, knocking it down, and taking him with it.
“Die Inuyasha.” Naraku said with a cold smile on his face.
Before he could attack the strange women walked back into the clearing, her face expressionless. She walked over and picked up Tetseiga. Everyone's mouth dropped when she transformed Tetseiga and glared at Naraku.
“This is the last time you will ever hurt anyone. Die Naraku, die painfully.” With that she ran at Naraku, Tetseiga in her hands, and attacked. As she was running towards him the sword started to glow emerald.
“Dance of Death.” She yelled before swinging the sword at Naraku. The clearing erupted in emerald light. Everyone put there hands up to shield their eyes.
“Now Kagome!” Yelled the girl. Off to the side of the clearing Kagome walk out of the tree's bow ready, and released a purifying arrow, aiming for Naraku's heart. Her aim was true and when the arrow hit its mark Kagome yelled in glee, proud she hit her mark.
Demons and humans alike stood there in shock. Nobody knew what to do now that Naraku was gone. The battle was over, it was finally over. So many died, and it wasn't all for nothing. They could all go home.
Inuyasha picked himself up off the ground and ran over to Kagome to make sure she was all right. Miroku, while supporting Sango, walked slowly over to them looking relieved and happy, Kilala close behind. They didn't have to say anything; they all just stood there knowing now that they could finally go on with their lives. Together.
Only one person didn't join the group. Sesshoumaru was standing to the side, watching everyone with an expressionless stare.
Eventually everyone's attention turned back to the girl standing in the middle of the clearing. She was covered in blood that wasn't her own, Tetseiga still in her hand. The sword slipped out of her grasp and she stood there, slowly looking around. Suddenly her eyes closed and she dropped to the ground unconscious.

When Kurai woke up she had a splitting headache and her ears were ringing. She tried to sit up but a firm hand pushed her back down. She opened her eyes halfway but her vision was to blurry to make anything out.
“You have to regain your strength before you can get out of bed. We don't want you to over do things and hurt yourself. Here drink this, it's a cup herbal tea. It will help you get well faster.” A soft, gentle voice said.
A warm cup of liquid was placed into her hands. She didn't know whether she should trust this person or not, but looking at her situation, she decided to just drink it and not make a big deal. She put the cup to her lips and took a small drink. It was bitter but the taste wasn't unbearable. She shrugged and downed the rest of the tea. A few minutes later she started to feel tired and her eyes slid shut. Finally she slipped into unconsciousness.

“Who do you think she is?” Miroku asked. They were all sitting in Sesshoumaru's study, discussing this strange new woman Kagome accidentally brought into their time.
“I really have no idea. I was walking to the well when I felt that I needed to wait, like something important was going to happen…”
After Kagome finished her story everyone sat in silence and contemplated this strange girl, and what Kagome had said. She had all these strange things about her, yet she appeared to be human. The only person who wasn't joining in on their conversation was Sesshoumaru. He was sitting in his chair, head in his hands, thinking about the strange girl. He had decided to keep his thoughts to himself for now.
`I wonder who she is. Or what she is for that matter. I could feel, just from that brief display, a lot of power coming from that girl. She doesn't smell like a demon, yet she doesn't smell like a human either. I will have to make her tell me who and what she is, and where she comes from.
Everyone was still in the study when one of Sesshoumaru servants knocked on the door. When Sesshoumaru told them to enter, a small male bird youkai walked into the room and bowed low to Sesshoumaru.
“Sesshoumaru-sama, the girl has awakened and I sent one of the female servants to get her washed up for dinner.” He looked at the floor the whole time, not daring to look up in case Sesshoumaru got angry with him.
“Very well, you may excuse yourself, but I count on her being ready and down for dinner on time. I don't want to be kept waiting.” Sesshoumaru sat there looking at his servant, his face staying completely expressionless.
“Yes of course Sesshoumaru-sama it will be as you say.” The servant back out of the room bowing and shut the door.
“Sesshoumaru, I noticed you haven't said anything at all today during our discussion. I was wondering what your opinion is.” Kagome asked, sincerely curious. She wanted to know what he had to say since he probably figured out something by now. He was smart that way.
Sesshoumaru sat there for a second, a thoughtful expression on his face, on of the few expressions he uses, and thought about what he should say, and what he didn't want to say. He decided he didn't have that much so he answered.
“This Sesshoumaru is not sure. She is a complete mystery. She does not smell like a demon, yet she doesn't smell like a human either, although she looks like one. The greatest mystery to me is the power she holds. How does a simple human have that kind of power?” He looked around the room at everyone to see their reactions.
Inuyasha spoke first. “I noticed the same thing. In fact I can't identify her smell at all. My nose just doesn't pick up anything. She is really quiet to.” Inuyasha looked extremely stumped. He just didn't understand how someone could not have a smell. Everyone has a certain, personal smell, one that nobody else has. He sat there looking at Sesshoumaru then slid his gaze to Kagome. They exchanged glances.
“I have come to the conclusion that there is some kind of spell that is hiding her scent and identity. But what I want to know is how she transformed the Tetseiga, and then used it, with an unknown attack. When I felt her power, I felt a power that rivals my own.” Sesshoumaru ended his piece with a huff. Apparently he wasn't very happy about that.
“I agree, that would be, interesting, to say the least. We can ask her when she wakes up, and until then we should all go and get ready for dinner.”

Kurai woke with a start. She sat up slowly, wondering where she was. When she sat up fully, she gritted her teeth in pain. Her back was killing her.
She looked around and gasped. This had to be the most beautiful room she had ever seen, let alone slept in. It was decorated artfully in blacks, different shades of gold, and blood red. There were tapestries and paintings lining the walls and a single oak wardrobe with beautiful designs carved in it.
In the center of a wall was a single mirror. It was huge, to say the least. It was lined in silver and was in crested with tiny diamonds. Under it was a small table, with assorted trinkets and a beautiful silver brush.
She was brought out of her musings when she heard someone approaching the door. She quietly slid out of the bed and reached for her ankle. She pulled her butterfly knife out of its strap and flipped it open. Holding her knife in her right hand she waited for the unknown person to come to her room.
The door opened and a pretty young demon walked into the room. She had short black hair and big brown eyes. She stood in the doorway and stared at Kurai. They stayed that way for a few seconds before the girl's face broke into a bright smile.
“Who the hell are you, and where the hell am I?” Kurai questioned, with a dangerous expression on her face. She was lost, she was pissed, and most of all, she was hungry.
“My name is Yuki, and you are in Lord Sesshoumaru's castle, currently in a guest room.” Her expression never changed. To Kurai she seemed, just a little to… happy.
“Who the fuck is Sesshoumaru, and why am I here in the first place?” Kurai said, her expression changing to a look of determination. She was going to get answers, and she was going to get them now.
“To my knowledge, you are here because you were injured in a battle and fell unconscious, and Sesshoumaru is Lord of the Western Lands.” She just sat there smiling her cheery smile. Suddenly Kurai's memories flooded back.
“Ok.” Was all she said. She walked over and sat on the bed, looking mildly depressed. She sat there with her head down, staring at the floor.
“If you come with me, I will take you to the bath house so you can get cleaned up. Then we will have to find you something… decent to wear for dinner tonight.” She said, looking Kurai up and down, a funny look on her face.
Kurai went over to the mirror and looked at herself. Her black hoodie was torn and covered in blood, the same with her jeans. Her shoes were gone. Her face was smeared with dirt and blood and her hair was matted and tangled. She looked like a wreck.
“I think that would definitely be a good idea.” She looked at herself and cringed, not liking the fact that she was so dirty. She looked at Yuki and stood up, walking over to the door. She motioned to the door and spoke.
“Shall we go?”
They walked down a long corridor and went into a door on the right. They walked into a large room with a total of five large baths. They looked big enough to fit at least ten people in each.
“Now, lets get started, its going to take forever to get the blood and dirt out of your hair.” Yuki said, getting a determined look on her face. She rolled up her sleeves and grabbed the soap.
Thirty minutes later, after a lot of scrubbing, Kurai was finally clean. They walked back to her room and over to her wardrobe.
“Now, pick out the Kimono you like best. You can borrow whichever one you like until you get some of your own.” Yuki said, motioning her to open the door, then stepped back to let her look through the selection.
She opened the wardrobe and her mouth dropped open. There were at least thirty different kimonos, all beautifully made. They had to be the most expensive pieces of clothing she had ever seen. They were all different colors and designs. She picked one out randomly and had Yuki help her put it on.
After about another thirty minutes of struggling with the kimono and drying and brushing her hair, Yuki stepped back to look Kurai over. Her eyes widened.
“Wow Kurai, you look incredible. The kimono sets off your eyes and hair perfectly.” She smiled.
“Thank you, you're to kind.” She said, and she meant it.
In the dining hall, everyone sat around the table waiting for their guest to arrive. They made small talk but were mostly silent. Nobody had anything to say. Eventually the door opened and she walked in.
They all stared at her in amazement. During the battle, and after she went unconscious, nobody actually took the time to look at her. They all appreciated what they saw, especially the guys.
She was wearing a baby pink kimono, and her hair was down, swaying around her thighs. She wasn't wearing any make up, but she didn't need it. The kimono's design complemented her hourglass figure and long legs perfectly. The color set off her eyes making them appear like they were glowing.
Jaken shook off their trance by yelling at the girl.
“Bow to your lord you filthy piece of human flesh.” Jaken squawked, irritating her.
She looked down at Jaken with an expressionless stare. “I bow to no one.” Her expression changed to one of open contempt.
“Bow to him human, or you will be punished!” Jaken croaked, his cheeks puffing out in anger.
“By who? You?” With that she kicked him out the open door, then walked over and shut it. You could hear Jaken squawk, then start cursing about stupid human wenches.
“Excuse me; you can come over here and sit by me if you want.”
She turned and looked at who was speaking to her. It was a girl with a pretty smile. She had waist length black hair and ocean blue eyes.
She walked over and sat down next to her. She knew that everyone was looking at her. She waited in silence.
“Well” said the girl, “my name is Kagome. The sitting across the table is Sango.” Sango was a young woman, probably around 19, with long dark hair and brown eyes.
“The guy sitting next to her is Miroku; watch out for his hand, he is quite the lecherous monk.” Everyone smiled; it must be a joke between all of them. Miroku looked away, choosing to not respond to their teasing.
“That,” She pointed to the guy sitting next to her, “Is Inuyasha.” Inuyasha looked at her. He had long silver hair and white dog ears. They stared each other down. Inuyasha looked away first.
“And the guy over there is Sesshoumaru.” She looked up to the head of the table. Sitting there had to be the most attractive man she had ever seen, and she has seen a lot. He had long, beautiful silver hair, and breathtaking gold eyes. She wouldn't mind staring at him for the rest of her life. Turning back to Kagome she decided to introduce herself.
“My name is Kurai. As you may already know, I have a few questions.” She stated while looking around at everyone. Suddenly her stomach growled. She put her hand on her stomach and her face turned bright red.
“Look, why don't we eat something first?” Kagome giggled. Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru.
“Very well.” He didn't take his eyes off of Kurai.

After everyone finished their meal they all looked expectantly at Kurai.
“Well, first off, where the hell am I?” She looked from person to person waiting for an answer.
“ Umm, this isn't going to be easy to explain to you, but lets start with the hardest thing. Do you believe, well, that humans are the only, umm, humanoid species?”
“Of course not.”
“Ok, well, this might be hard for you to believe but…”
“But what? Are you talking about demons? Did you honestly think that I would not notice that I am in a castle filled with demons? Come on, I am not an idiot.” She made a disgusted noise.
“Well it's not like there is any left in modern day Japan.” She said defensively, crossing her arms over her chest.
“You are a Miko right?”
“How did you…”
“Then you should know that there is thousands of demons in Tokyo, if not more. Of course they are a lot better at hiding their identities now. All of my friends back at home are demons.” With that said she looked down. She wasn't so sure she should have revealed that so soon.
“If you don't mind me asking, why are all your friends' demons?” Kagome asked. Now she was extremely curious about this girl.
“For one, I seem to feel a lot more comfortable with demons, and two, I do not really like humans. No offense of course.”
“No offense taken. But back to telling you where you are, again this might be hard to believe but you are in feudal Japan, 500 hundred years in the past.”
“Interesting, now when can I go back?”
Kagome's eyes suddenly filled with tears but she refused to let them fall. Inuyasha put his hand of her arm, trying to give her silent comfort.
“When we came through the well, and there was the battle, Naraku destroyed the well. That was are only way of getting back, so basically we are trapped in the past.” She couldn't hold back her tears anymore. They poured down her face. She got up and walked out of the room.
Kurai sat there looking down for a minute before getting up and walking out of the room also.
“Well, that didn't go as bad as I thought it would.” Miroku said, a bright smile on his face.
Everyone looked at Miroku for a second then got up and walked out as well. Miroku was left sitting there all alone.
“What? Was it something I said?”
He didn't get an answer.
