[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Remember when I said that there are a lot of things I haven't explained in this fic? Well, I've decided to be…nice and give you a teensy hint, Maki and Satoshi play an important role in a certain mystery you guys might be curious about. Man, I have more filler chapters then I thought…I can't believe it's taken THIS long to finally start!

Also, in case you didn't notice, my last chap had a little bit added at the ending.

Oh and BLACK JACK! Heh 21.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, nor did I have the brilliance to come up with him like that of Romiko Takahashi.

Bad Influence # Twenty-One: Sneaking In

It must have been the goofy look on his face that made Satoshi stare at him when he came into his apartment later that night. “Did you get hit in the face again?” He asked as Inuyasha walked by and collapsed on his couch with a dazed expression. Maki, who had been at the table playing black jack with Miroku and Satoshi, and beating both of them, looked up with a satisfied smile as though she knew something.

Catching the expression on her face, both boys looked from her and to Inuyasha. “Someone got laid.” Miroku joked, only to have a pillow thrown at his head by an annoyed Inuyasha.

“Wrong.” Inuyasha hissed, lying back down after hitting his target in the face. “Satoshi, do you mind if I crash here tonight.”

“Sure, but I don't have any booze on me.” Satoshi warned. Maki glared at him.

“That's fine. I'm happy enough without it.” Inuyasha stared at the ceiling.

Intrigued, Miroku asked, “What happened that made you so-” Maki threw him a glare that cut his question short. Changing the subject she asked, “So why do you want to stay here tonight?”

Inuyasha breathed in. Too his three friends it sounded like a dreamy sigh. “I'm in too good of a mood to ruin it by going back home.” He turned over smiled at Maki.

Grinning in return, Maki stood, pulled a juice can from Satoshi's fridge and threw it at Inuyasha. Catching it, he sat up and stared at her. “What's this for?”

“Congratulations.”

Inuyasha raised a brow. “For what?”

“For your new girlfriend of course.” Maki answered. Inuyasha chocked on the juice.

“Girlfriend?” Miroku stared at Maki.

“What the hell happened?”

“Oh, Kagome you're home. Do you want some dinner?” Kagome barely heard her mother's voice as she took her shoes off and walked toward the stairs.

“I'm not hungry Mom. Thanks anyway.” She walked up the stairs in a daze and mechanically opened her door before collapsing on her bed. What a night, she thought as she turned over in her bed while replaying the night's events in her mind. Frankly, Kagome didn't want to ruin the memory. She stripped down, turned off her light and got under her covers.

But she couldn't go to sleep. She kept replaying their kisses over and over in her head. Kagome blushed and kicked her feet under the blanket before pulling her pillow out from under her and slamming it down on her head. This was stupid! She was being embarrassed about kissing after it happened! What was she an eleven-year-old?

Kagome turned on her side and put her hands on her lips and thanked fate that she was alone in her room. She was sure she had a ridiculous, faraway look on her face. She'd planned to be cool after she'd received her first kiss, by a guy she liked no less. Unfortunately, she had to be girly and gush about her own experience!

Sango was right: she did need to date more. True, she was two busy with schoolwork to focus on a relationship, but both times when she went out with a guy she didn't feel that spark. Kagome slapped her cheeks. What was she thinking?

“GAH! This is ridiculous! I freak out even after it's happened! Can I not think about this without blushing!”

“Kagome, are you okay?” Souta asked the next morning at breakfast.

Kagome gulped down some rice. “What do you mean? I'm fine.” She answered.

“You just ate half of my rice.” Souta pointed the bowl in her hand. Great. She kisses the guy and she gets his infinite appetite.

“She's fine. She's just happy.” Mrs. Higurashi smiled. Kagome sent her a nervous look. She saw Grandpa lower his newspaper and raise a brow. “Good news, dear?” He asked.

Kagome covered her eyes. What would she say to him? I spent the entire day making out with my new boyfriend yesterday? No way in hell, Kagome thought. “I'm just in a good mood.” She stammered. Damn it! If she had to go and kiss him, couldn't she get his ability to lie, or his indifferent attitude?

Before Kagome's face would light up, she gathered her plates and went toward the sink, washing them and excusing herself. What now? She'd dated in the past but she hadn't had a boyfriend before. Despite the fact that she really needed advice, Kagome was too embarrassed to call Sango again.

Without really thinking, Kagome reached for her phone, dialing a different number automatically. “Hello?” The person on the other end answered. Kagome slammed her finger on the off button. This was stupid! Since when did she turn into such a coward?

“Things were a lot easier when we were just friends.” She huffed.

She stared at her phone, debating about whether to call him again or not and before she knew it, a whole forty minutes had passed. Feeling defeated, Kagome descended the stairs just as a knock was heard. Mrs. Higurashi answered it as Kagome reached the front door.

“Oh, what a surprise.” Her mother chirped.

“Hi, Mrs. Higurashi. Is Kagome in?” Kagome's face boiled.

“One moment.” Kagome resisted the urge to run back up the stairs before her mother caught sight of her. “You have a guest dear.”

“Thanks Mama.” Kagome came down the last step, thanked her mother and pushed passed her. Inuyasha waved at her innocently from the doorway.

“I'll leave you two lovebirds alone.” Mrs. Higurashi giggled.

“MOM!” Kagome stuttered, but Mrs. Higurashi had already gone into the kitchen. Hoping to be away from prying eyes, and ears, Kagome put on her shoes and pushed Inuyasha outside, closing the door behind her.

“What are you doing here?”

“Not the welcoming I was hoping for.” He clicked his teeth. “Did you call me earlier?” Kagome bit her lip and nodded.

He tilted his head to the side. “Why did you hang up?” Kagome didn't answer, flushing guiltily. Inuyasha laughed. “What?” She put her hands on her hips.

He shook his head, “Nothing, I just never imagined you being so girly.”

“So I'm not a girl now?”

“No, just not a stupid one.”

“What does that mean?” Kagome frowned.

“It means you're not the boy obsessed, shopping crazed, fan girl, gossipy type, but you still get embarrassed about kissing me.”

Kagome's jaw dropped. “How did you know?”

“Why else would you call to talk and then hang up right after?”

“Do you live to embarrass me?”

“No, but it is fun.”

Kagome sighed. “So what were you doing?” She asked.

“Playing black jack with Maki and Satoshi.”

“What about Miroku?”

“On a date with Sango.”

“Oh.” Kagome bit her lip.

Inuyasha waved his hand in front of her face. “What?” She noticed the curious looks he was giving her. “You're really out of it today.” Then a thought clicked in his mind.

His brows came together and he gave her a sideways glance. “Have ever dated anyone before?”

Kagome sighed. “Yes, I have, but for some reason you make me really nervous.”

“Then what do I need to do to keep you from getting nervous?”

“Um…”

“Come on, say it.” Inuyasha pressed.

“Well, I think we should go on a date. Shouldn't you have gone on one date to be a couple? We didn't really do much yesterday.”

“Besides kiss.” Inuyasha reminded her. Kagome was silent for a while. She heard him laugh. “I wish you could see your face right now. You're burning.”

Kagome glared at him. “All right, all right. So where do you want to go?” He asked, placing his hands in his pockets.

“I don't know. Maybe a movie?” She suggested. Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “That's been done. How about we do something not so cliché?”

“Fine, picky, why don't you decide what to do.” Kagome crossed her arms.

Inuyasha tapped his forefinger to his temple and then looked at her. “How late are you allowed to stay out?” He asked.

“Till eight.”

“That should be enough time.”

“To do what?”

“You'll see.” He smirked.

It took some coaxing on Inuyasha's part but he finally got her to agree. She went back into the house and changed shoes, telling her mother she was going out. She walked back outside to see Inuyasha twirling his keys around his fingers. Before she could forget, Kagome remembered to ask him if he were still coming to their school.

“Why would I transfer out of your school?” He asked.

“I thought that since you were living with your family, you would go to the school closest to your house.”

“Keh, now that I'm living with my old man, you'll see me in school more often.”

Kagome bit her lip and blurted out her question before she could stop herself. “Hey, Inuyasha, why don't you like your father?”

Inuyasha bared his teeth, but not at her. “Let's just say that I have some issues with my old man and my older brother.” The way he said it, sounded like he wasn't going to evaluate any further so Kagome let it drop.

“So where are we going?” She asked when she sat in his car, clicking her seatbelt into place. “I can't believe I'm riding in this thing again.” Kagome sighed, looking out her window.

Inuyasha frowned as he started the engine. “Do you have some grudge against my car?”

“Well it is the one that almost killed me.” Kagome reminded him.

Inuyasha gave her an exasperated stare. “This is never going to end is it?”

“Maybe I shouldn't be so mad at the car, I mean it was the one who was driving so fast.” Kagome grinned evilly.

“Enough already!” Inuyasha grumbled as he eased into the street. Kagome puffed up with annoyance. “No, I'm not stopping! PUT YOUR SEATBELT ON!”

Inuyasha gave her a look. “Fine.” He huffed, pulling the strap over. “Man, you're my girlfriend and you still nag at me like crazy.”

“Tell me something no one else knows.” Kagome said suddenly.

Though he kept his eyes on the road, Inuyasha wrinkled his nose. “Where did that come from?”

“Come on, just one thing.”

Inuyasha bit his lower lip trying to think of something. “Uh, I have a tattoo on my ass that says `flying potatoes?'”

“Really?” Kagome joked.

“No!” He barked. “Why would I-”

“What about a piercing?” Kagome giggled at his defensiveness. Though she'd only been teasing him, she was surprised when Inuyasha pulled his hair behind his ear, revealing a small ring on his lobe and two on the ridge of his ear. Kagome wondered what her father would say about that. Not that she minded since it seemed to suit his “badass” personality, but she was still surprised that the earrings were there.

“Did that hurt?” She asked.

Inuyasha smiled. “I was too drunk to notice.”

“Are you serious? But you're underage?” Kagome didn't know whether to be angry or shocked.

“So, a lot of underage people drink all the time.”

“What if you got caught and they sent you to jail? Don't you ever think about the consequences of what you're doing, like driving sixty on a thirty-five street!” Kagome gasped when she noticed his speed. “Slow down! You don't want to hit anybody.”

“Shit, why are you such a worrywart all the time?” He huffed.

“Oh, I don't know, I just don't want you to almost run over another girl and then have her develop a crush on you and have to deal with a love triangle.” Kagome spat.

“Really?” Inuyasha winked at her.

“NO! You'd think you of all people would recognize sarcasm!” Kagome was tempted the whip the smile off his face, until she realized they were in a neighborhood she didn't recognize. She was about to ask Inuyasha where they were headed again when the car suddenly entered the driveway of a rather large house. A really big house, Kagome thought.

“Good, the old man's car isn't here.” Inuyasha said as he took off his seatbelt. Before Kagome could connect two and two together, Inuyasha had turned of the car and opened her door. She undid her belt and walked out. Inuyasha stuffed his keys into his pocket. “That means I can leave this here without worrying.” He said.

“Is this your house?” Kagome asked, marveling its size and the vastness of the property. She looked behind her and noticed a gate. It wasn't a house; it was a mansion.

“No this is my old man's house. I just live here.” Inuyasha muttered.

“Can I see the inside?” She asked.

“No one's in right now. Eh, why not.” He walked over to the porch, up the steps and unlocked the door. Excited, Kagome stepped inside, here eyes greedily drinking in the area. It was so clean and well kept…and big! The interior was so large it almost had it's own draft.

“Wow. Where's your room?” She turned and looked at Inuyasha who was still standing in the doorway.

“Upstairs.”

Kagome's face lit up. “This I got to see.” She said excitedly as she rushed upstairs. “Uh, hey, Inuyasha,” She called down to him, “which room is it?” She heard him harrumph at her silliness and come up the stairs pointing to the right door. Kagome flung it open and rushed inside.

There was definitely more furniture then his old apartment's bedroom. Inuyasha's bed felt huge compared to hers. It sat in the middle of the room right across from the door, unmade, the largest thing in the room. In the corner next to it was a desk made of wood. A beanbag was on the ground near a table that had a television on it.

“It's so clean.” Kagome thought aloud. After seeing his sloppiness at school and when he came over to her house, she thought his room would be a pigsty, but the only thing out of place was his unmade bed.

“I'm hardly ever here to mess it up.” Inuyasha explained as he came in. Kagome walked to the desk, noticing a picture frame and picking it up. It was the same picture Maki had in her scrapbook: the one with all of them together. However, in the corner of the frame was a smaller photograph, wedged into the frame's thin layer over the glass. Kagome pulled it out.

“Who's this?” She asked.

Inuyasha came over and looked over her shoulder. “That's my mom.” He said.

Kagome turned and looked at him and then the picture and then back to him again. If she didn't know any better, she would say that Inuyasha was a male version of his mother. They had the same eyes and like her, he grew his hair long. Kagome examined the smiling woman in the photo and how she seemed so kind, even in a still frame. “She was very pretty.” Kagome said as she put the photo and frame back in its place at the desk.

“Yeah.” Inuyasha sounded a bit saddened when he spoke.

“I'm sorry. Would you rather not talk about her?” She asked.

He shook his head. “Actually, I didn't bring you my place so we could hang out here.” He admitted.

“Why did we come here then?” Kagome looked at him suspiciously.

“Since you don't like my car so much, I though I'd drop it off here and we walk the rest of the way. It's not far from here.” He said.

“You still won't tell me where we are going?”

“Nope.”

As they went down the stairs Kagome asked him if they really needed to walk all the way. Inuyasha had given her askance glances, telling her he thought she hated his car. Kagome didn't want to admit it, but it felt more private to be in a vehicle then out on the street where everyone was watching them. Not that she was embarrassed, but the last time they were together in the park the kids there had laughed and even thrown a stone at Inuyasha's head. Kagome couldn't help smiling in the memory.

“I could go back and get my car.” He offered.

Kagome shook her head. “No, it's fine. I don't have legs for nothing.” She said.

“I really don't like this.” Kagome protested as she held on to his arm for support. “I hate not seeing where I'm going.” She tried making Inuyasha take his hand off her eyes.

After their walk in the city, he had led her through back alleyways and through doors at the back of department stores she didn't know. Kagome had long since lost her sense of direction. Soon he'd snuck them into a building and led her up a long flight of stairs. It wasn't until they got to the top that he convinced her to cover her eyes.

“Can you be patient for a little longer? We're almost there.” Inuyasha encouraged. She could hear a hint of amusement in his voice.

“You're enjoying this aren't you?” Kagome snapped.

“Yup.”

“I swear, one of these days I'm going to handcuff you to your car's steering wheel.” Kagome threatened.

Inuyasha chuckled. “I'd like to see you try.”

“Wanna bet?” Kagome challenged. A breeze suddenly touched her face. Getting nervous, Kagome asked, “Where are we?”

Inuyasha stopped covering her eyes. Kagome rubbed and waited till they adjusted to the light to open them. When she did, she found herself starring at a bird's eye view of the city. Kagome's jaw dropped. Where were they? It was obviously a rooftop, but she had never been on one so high.

“What a view. Where are we?” She asked Inuyasha.

“It's the rooftop of an abandoned business building. No one's allowed up here, but that's what makes it fun.” He stood next to her, admiring the view.

Ignoring his comment about forbidden access, Kagome pointed to a small white block in the distance. “Is that our school? It looks so small.”

“There's your house.” Inuyasha pointed. Kagome looked over his shoulder. “Man, I can't believe we have such a tiny property.”

“Anything would look tiny from all the way up here. Look at the cars.” To Kagome, they looked like colorful dots in the narrow streets. He pretended he was picking up one of the cars off the street and smashing it between his fingers.

“I wonder if this is how Godzilla felt.” He roared. “I smash!”

Kagome laughed. “Kind of makes you think about how small people are.” She said.

Inuyasha walked up to the edge of the building and sat down. Kagome panicked. “Get away from the edge! What if you fall?”

“I'll be fine. I have great balance.” He smirked at her over his shoulder. “Care to join me?”

“NO!” Kagome stomped her foot. “Get back here.”

“Oh come one, live a little.” He waved wish his hand for her to come closer. Kagome stubbornly shook her head.

“You're not afraid of heights are you? Chicken!” He kept teasing her till Kagome couldn't take it and slumped down angrily next to him but held on to his arm a second later.

“This is worse then riding on a Ferris wheel.” She clenched her teeth.

“So you are scared of heights.” Inuyasha concluded, putting his arm around her shoulders. Kagome felt slightly more secure.

“It's you're fault. You had to make me come to the edge.” She complained.

“It's your pride that got you here not me.” He countered.

“If you hadn't been teasing me-”

Inuyasha shook his head. “We haven't even been dating for a whole day and we spent half our time together arguing.”

Kagome smiled. “That reminds me of something Sango said.”

“What did she say?”

“Not telling.”

They stayed on the rooftop talking, and squabbling, until Inuyasha couldn't stand the heat, or the hunger pains, and then snuck back out of the building. Kagome muttered about being caught and getting in trouble on the way down, only to have Inuyasha brag about never getting caught when they exited the building without a problem.

After a few hamburgers, Inuyasha ate three, and fries, Kagome and Inuyasha were walking down the street arm and arm holding ice cream cones. “I almost want to go back up to the roof where at least there was a breeze. It's so hot.” Kagome bit into her vanilla cone.

“It's only going to get hotter.” Inuyasha took a really big bite out of his cone and slapped his hand against his forehead. “Ow, brain freeze.”

“You still wolf down your food. Why do you love eating so much?”

“I don't know. Why do you love running so much?” He asked her.

Kagome considered her answer. “My dad used to take me jogging with him every morning when I was small. I used to just run laps for exercise until middle school. I guess running is like freedom for me. You know something: I haven't been running my morning laps since we went to the beach. You're such a distraction.”

Inuyasha hadn't paid attention to her jab. “Freedom.” He mumbled.

“What is it?”

“I used to feel the same way when I played soccer a few years back. We had to run laps too. I hated the laps, but I liked being on the field, especially when I gained a goal. There was one time I punched one of my teammates by accident after I scored.” He smiled nostalgically.

Intrigued, Kagome asked, “What happened?”

“I broke his nose.” Inuyasha bit into his cone again. “The coach was pissed. I got into so much trouble.”

“Even though it was an accident?”

“I get into a lot of trouble.” He had a distant look as though he were thinking of an unhappy memory. Kagome tapped him on the shoulder, asking if he was okay. “Just thinking.” He said. “You have some ice cream on your face.” He changed the subject and Kagome completely didn't notice because he leaned in and kissed the bit of vanilla off her cheek.

She felt stupid blushing over an innocent kiss but laughed with him when an old woman on the street made a comment about public shows of affection. The sun was beginning to set and when they got back to Inuyasha's home, it was already dark. “I guess I've kidnapped you long enough.” Inuyasha said as they walked up to his Lexus.

Kagome leaned against her door, waiting for him to open it. “I had fun. Even the arguing.” She got up on her tiptoes to give him a peck on the cheek. What she didn't expect was for him to get a hold of her chin and turn it into a full on kiss. Closing her eyes, Kagome grabbed the collar of his shirt, pulling him close. He almost lost his balance and put his hands on the car window behind her, his arms straddling her shoulders.

Kagome pulled him down so hard that his hand hit the car's mirror and the alarm went off, startling both of them and breaking them apart. Catching his breath, Inuyasha turned the shrill sound off. “We need to find places where kids or cars can't interrupt us.” He rubbed the back of his head.

“Stupid car.” Kagome grouched. Inuyasha opened the door for her. “Shall we?”

FINALLY, a date! ^_^ Granted this chapter is mostly dialogue, I really hope you enjoyed. Really sorry this is a shorter chapter, but I really hope you liked!
