Chap. 15- Return of Kagome
I smiled at Inu. No one was at the house, Souta was at school and grandfather was at work. He had made me laugh a few minutes ago, with one of his jokes that rarely came out around others.
“Kagome?” He whispered.
“What?” I looked up carefully, smiling.
“How much do you love me?” Inu smiled.
I shrugged at him then held out my arms. “This much.” I laughed. He hugged me close, and I laid my head on his shoulder, laughing still.
“Me too.” He whispered to me, his face nuzzling into my neck playfully. He inhaled, growling against my skin softly.
My fingers ran through his silvery hair, loving the way it felt. “I thought I would never say this, but I can't help loving you.” I whispered.
“Why? I mean why didn't you think you wouldn't.” He backed up but still had his arms around me.
“Because I never thought I would find someone who would bring out the best in me.” My eyes met his. “I never thought I'd love anyone.”
He smiled. “Then I'm privileged to have you.”
“Yes, you are.” I smiled wide, almost in a childish way. “And I'm lucky to have you.” He let me go when I backed up, turning to go into the kitchen. I started water to wash dishes that we had created not to much earlier. Inu walked in and put his chin on my shoulder, and his arms around me.
I washed the dishes with him like that. Slowly rocking back and forth in my own rhythm.
He sighed. “What is it about you that makes me crazy?” He asked softly.
“My body.” I said turning around in his arms with a towel in my hands wiping the droplets of water off of them. “The way I talk, my laugh, my personality, my similarity.” I laughed. That wasn't it I knew.
“Similarity? To who?”
“Kikyou.” I said smiling.
He laughed with me this time. “No. I'm not dating you because you resemble her. Never. You're more kind hearted, than cold bitch.”
I kissed his forehead, leaning forward slightly, then I leaned back against the counter. “I thought so.”
“This is why I love you.”
“Why?”
“Because you are carefree. You are yourself. I love that about you.” He kissed my neck right below my ear. My breath caught in my throat as he slid his lips across my skin slightly, then kissed again.
“Inu…” I whispered. He looked up at me and I shook my head.
“I know.” He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them the gold flickering . “I'm sorry.”
I shook my head. “It's not your fault. I led you on.” I smiled softly. “I liked it anyway.” I ducked my head, and caught his lips slowly, softly, pulling at his senses. “I really did.”
He sniffed at me. “I can tell.” That made me laugh. The way he smiled casually.
My heart skipped a beat when his eyes met mine again. “We need to get ready for work.”
I nodded. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Teaching me to love.” I smiled up at him. “And bringing me back to this world.”
“That's not a problem. It's easy when I have you as a subject. All I have to do is go with the flow.”
I smiled, walking to my room and trying to pick what I would wear to Naraku's place tonight. “What do you think?” I held up a set of clothes. Inu shook his head, and then walked to the closet looking around in it, and digging in deep.
“This.” He held out a tank top and a short skirt.
“You are bad…”
