A week had passed since Sango had told Kagome about InuYasha. Kagome, upon questioning, had found out that the castle was enchanted, providing the inhabitations with whatever they asked for, and Miroku had explained that the only reason they cooked was to bring a bit of normality to their lives, though the food was mostly provided to them by the castle. Kagome had pondered on the enchantment for quite some time before giving up, thinking about it giving her a headache.

Shippou latched onto Kagome, and at once Kagome felt a love growing for the small kit. He was a bundle of happiness and joy, all smiles and giggles, and she couldn't help but fall into the roll of his mother. He had confided in her the fact that her parents had been killed, and he himself nearly half-dead when InuYasha had found him and brought him back to the castle to live there.

Her love and protectiveness for him only grew with that, and he had taken into coming in her room at night and sleeping with her, nightmares of his parents plaguing him, though he tried valiantly to keep them at bay.

InuYasha was still rude, though he seemed to be making an effort. He had shown Kagome the vast library the castle housed, and had told her, gruffly, that the books there were hers as long as she wanted them. At the sight of the large room filled with books upon books of every known subject and type of fiction Kagome had nearly went into spastic fits of joy, and spent an entire day picking out books to read to Shippou, helping the young kit learn how to read.

She and Sango became close, confiding in each other and slowly building a bond of sisterhood. While Sango would never admit to anything, Kagome felt that her friend had feelings for the hentai monk Miroku. She found it quite adorable really, though there were times she felt like taking off Miroku's head for being such a pervert.

She had settled herself in the overgrown garden, on a bench underneath a large shade tree, leaning against the thick trunk and reading in the warm sunlight, while the chilled breeze danced around her.

Unknown to her InuYasha was in said tree, looking down at her with curiosity and bewilderment, afraid to move, and not knowing how to talk with her. He had finely built up his courage after minutes of telling himself he really didn't care what she said or did to him, and jumped down, startling poor Kagome out of her wits.

She let out a small shriek and tossed the book in the air, jumping nearly a foot into the air and landing on the stone bench with a loud thump, pressing a hand to her heart.

"InuYasha! You scared me half to death!" She gasped, eyes wide as she stared at him. He humphed and looked away, still in the crouched position he had landed in.

Kagome gather her wits about her and picked her book up off the ground, tucking her legs under her, and her cloak tighter about her.

She eyed InuYasha for a moment before giving him a smile.

"What are you doing out here?" She asked, tilting her head. InuYasha thought, for a moment, of saying nothing and fleeing in the opposite direction, seeking shelter in a different tree and pretending Kagome simply did not exist. He then pushed that thought of his head, firmly telling himself she was nothing but a woman, and nothing but. Even though she could free him, even though she loved him...

She was nothing. Just a woman. A stupid woman that. Yes, she was nothing to him. Nothing at all.

"Thinking." He looked up at her from under his thick bangs, watching her as she beamed her gentle smile on him. His heart thumped in his chest and for a moment he wondered if it was going to explode. He then began to tell himself it had nothing to do with the fact that she was looking at him with those large, gray-blue eyes of hers, and that it certainly wasn't because he noticed how small her waist, how tiny she was. And, of course, he was not thinking about how it would feel to pull her into his arms, holding her slight body against his.

Nope. Not at all.

"About what?" Kagome asked. He shrugged and stood, moving towards the bench. Kagome scooted over a bit, patting the cool stone beside her, giving him an inviting smile.

"Come sit with me. Company is always good." He said nothing, simply sitting down beside her, folding his legs up and resting his arms on his knee's, looking at her out of the corner of his eye.

"It must get lonely with only you and Sango and Miroku here." Kagome peeked up at him, giving him a crooked smile. "But entertaining, ne? Miroku has been beaten by her so many times he is nothing but a walking bruise." InuYasha gave a silent laugh, his lips tilting up slightly.

"The fucking pervert. Sango is going to end up killing him one of those days." Kagome grinned, laughing.

"Well at least we'll have ringside seats. We could sell tickets and make a fortune." InuYasha turned his head and looked at her, entranced by the way her eyes, so open and caring, twinkled with laughter. He watched her, his gaze dropping to her mouth, and what a mouth it was. It was full and rose colored, and he wondered if the were as soft as the looked, and how she would taste.

After a moment Kagome fidgeted under his intense looks, a blush rising to her face. For some reason this drew InuYasha to her even more. She was innocent, so sweet. She was completely untainted by the cruel world, sheltered from the bitterness and anger that seemed to fest inside himself. And the demon in him reared its head, wanting to taste that innocence, to be the first one to touch her.

He had never been faced with something or someone so completely disarming as she was, and he did not know that he moved, till his arms were around her, and he pulled her against him. A tiny voice inside him began to scream, banging on his brain which had shut down, telling him to run, that this was wrong. Who was he to touch this innocent being, to taint her purity?

It was this thought that give him the slightest of pauses till everything else him smashed the voice down, and he lowered his head, bushing his lips across her. She let out a gasp, eyes wide, before they slowly closed, reaching up to rest lightly on his shoulders. He let out a small growl, of approval or of lust or of something else, not even he was sure, and then he slanted his mouth over hers, taking his first taste of her.

She was like honey, so sweet, so softy, and his only coherent thought was of to taste more of her. His tongue glided across her lips and she opened open them on a small gasp, and he pressed between them, sweeping his tongue inside her mouth.

Kagome melted against him, shyly kissing him back, and her innocent way of kissing him back made him moan, pulling her closer to him. He kissed her harder then, and he nearly lost control when she responded, her hand fisting in his haori, pulling him closer.

They broke apart, and Kagome's breathing was harsh, her eyes opening slowly. They were fogged with a passion she had never felt before, and she made a soft mellowing sound that simply begged him for more. Her lips were puffy and bruised from his kisses, and all he could think of was tasting more of her.

He swooped down on her again, harder this time, his hands sliding up her sides and cupping her breasts, making her moan in his mouth and arch against him.

InuYasha was ready to take her there, to full her with himself, to make her his, to ease his loneliness, and to let her love and desire for him balm the wounds on his soul.

And he knew that she would let him.

He had just decided to take to the castle, to lay her on a soft bed and give her what gentleness he had left him when Shippou bounded up to them, jumping between them, eyes wide. InuYasha felt a snarl rising in his throat, and he glared down at the cub, and he faintly heard Miroku and Sango making sounds of distress.

"YUCK! What were you guys doing!?" Shippou demanded, little hands planted on his hips. Kagome let out a squeak, her face bright red in a blush InuYasha found quite interesting, and he wondered exactly how far that blush extended don her body...

"I...We...were..." Kagome was simply unable to string enough words together to make a coherent sentence, all she was able to do was stare at the kit, blinking. Her eyes slowly lifted to InuYasha's, filled with shock and embarrassment, and a desire that had been called a screaming halt.

"Shippou..." InuYasha grounded out his name, hands clenching into fists as he entertained fantasies of all the ways he could kill the child, slowly and painfully.

"You guys were KISSING! GROSS!" Shippou gagged and clutched his throat, horror simply radiating off him. InuYasha felt a twitch begin in his left eye, and the snarl grew in volume.

"Shippou I think you should go back inside now." He looked up at Kagome when he heard her soft voice, and Shippou began to whine, lip sticking out.

"But I don't want too! You guys just want to smooch some more! THAT IS SO GROSS!"

"Shippou. Now." Kagome's voice, while still quiet, held an edge of steal that Shippou remember vividly from his dear mother. It was a tone that clearly said do what he was told or else bad things would happen to him. Everyone mother in the world had that tone, and with a squeak Shippou scampered off.

Kagome felt the blush rising in her face again, and she chanced a look up at InuYasha, who was watching the disappearing kit with murder in his eyes. She must have made some sort of noise because he turned to her, his golden eyes loosing their edge of anger.

And a small blush rose up on his cheeks, making Kagome feel giddy, and all she could think of was receiving more his kisses.

He said nothing, simply leaned over and pressed another kiss on her, leaving her week and dizzy, and then bounded off into the tree-tops, heading towards the forest.

Kagome covered her mouth with her hand, a silly little smile on her face. She stood, her book forgotten on the bench, as she wandered back to her room, followed by Sango who was trying to act as if she saw and new nothing of what had gone on.

Kagome never noticed her.

She spent the rest of the day in a haze of warm, fuzzy happiness that only new lovers had. And joy rose in her heart at the knowledge that this wasn't just one-sided.

She had the man of her dreams...and he wanted her.
