InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Because you asked me to ❯ Only for you ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

It was a day, not unlike any other, in fact the days for the past week or so had blended together in their similarities leaving one unable to sort one day's memories from the next one. Rin skipped along ahead of Lord Sesshoumaru and Jaken who led the two headed dragon youkai named Ah-Un by the beast's leather lead. The young child, no more than six or seven summers, had quite the collection of random blossoms in her small hands collecting more as she went by.

As the girl stopped to bend down and pluck yet another blossom from the multicolored green earth she looked up, her eyes peering down the side of the small hill she and her companions had been traveling on. The hill was a small slope, though it was wide stretching a great way on all sides. As Rin looked up or rather down the slope, she saw a rather perplexing sight. There on the ground a good distance away lay a woman. She was naked and there was a man on top of her holding her down as he repeatedly threw his body into hers.

Tilting her head to the side in confusion, Rin crept down the hill and as she did began to hear the woman's pleas for the man to stop what he was doing and begging him not to hurt her. Rin gasped and froze as the man looked up and saw her standing there a rather frightening smile lit his face and colored his eyes.

“Come here child,” the man said, his voice nearly laughing with excitement as he saw Rin. “I said come here,” he repeated more forcefully when the child did not move.

“S-S-Sesshoumaru-sama!” Rin screamed out frightenedly. “Sesshoumaru-sama!”

“Be quiet you stupid child!” the man barked at her and Rin nearly fell over her own feet as she backed away, her eyes fixed on the woman's frightened face.

“Please help me,” the woman begged to Rin though her eyes never fell on the girl standing so very still.

“Shut up wench!” the man on top of her growled as he pulled out of her and stood his masculinity hanging out of his hakama and dripping some kind of white fluid.

In the next instant a white blur flew through the field, cutting the man down quickly and coming to stand next to the attacked woman. She had not moved, nor did she scream or give any reaction to seeing the man before her murdered.

“Dress yourself woman,” Sesshoumaru said, his voice cold and emotionless as he suppressed the rage he had felt when he had come upon the scene and smelled not Rin's fear, but also that of another woman and the vile man's lust and release.

“Is he gone?” she asked and Sesshoumaru's brow furrowed in confusion before smoothing out in indifference once again.

Sesshoumaru nodded once but still the woman did not move.

“He's gone,” Rin said as she came closer to the woman and helped her sit up. “Sesshoumaru-sama made him go away,” Rin said with childlike innocence.

“Thank you both very much, your father is very kind,” the woman said as she felt around in the grass. “You don't happen to see a braided grass garment do you?” she asked Rin.

“No, and why do you think my father is kind?” Rin asked as the woman gave a soft curse under her breath that only Sesshoumaru heard.

“It took me so long to make that,” the woman said.

“What about other clothing?” Rin asked as she watched the strange woman sit back on her heels not doing a thing to hide her nudity.

“I have no other clothing,” the woman answered not seeing Rin look up pleadingly at Sesshoumaru and heard a sigh before a slight thump along with the rustle of clothing. Seconds later she felt a warm cloth draped over her shoulders. “Thank you,” she said as she clumsily pulled on the white under kimono that Sesshoumaru had removed and given to her.

Rin helped the woman dress herself in Sesshoumaru's under kimono and tied the thin sash about her waist keeping the kimono closed. Helping the woman to stand, Sesshoumaru found that his under kimono, which reached just past mid thigh on him, stretched far below the woman's knees, nearly the length of a proper kimono on her. Once more his brow furrowed as he noticed that the woman did not look at him or anyone near and did not seem to acknowledge anything around her.

“What village need you be returned to?” the taiyoukai asked her indifferently.

“There is none,” she answered. The way she spoke the words made it clear that this was not a new development.

“Did you village get destroyed?” Rin asked as she walked along side the woman, Sesshoumaru in front of them as he led them back to where he had commanded Jaken to set up camp for the night.

“No. I was cast out.”

“Why?” Rin asked as Sesshoumaru took a small pouch from Ah-Un's saddle bags and motioned for Rin to follow him as he led his ward and the woman to a nearby hot spring so that the woman could wash away the scent of the filth that had violated her.

“I was young, maybe a bit younger than you are now little one when it was discovered that I was - am blind. My village had no use for a blind person.”

“Your village cast you out?” Rin said not hearing the soft growl come from her lord as he listened to their conversation.

“No…My parents did, my village simply backed their wishes.” Sesshoumaru's growling grew a bit louder. “What is that?” the woman asked.

“What is what?” Rin asked as she looked at the woman strangely.

“I don't know for sure, it sounds like thunder but it's so soft.” Abruptly Sesshoumaru stopped his growling. “Oh…well it's gone now. No need to worry I guess.”

“What is your name?” Rin asked the woman as Sesshoumaru motioned for Rin to disrobe and get into the water, watching as she helped the woman disrobe and follow her in.

The woman gasped as an arm, strong and thin though muscled wrapped tightly around her waist and lifted her from the ground. A soft almost purr sounded from behind her, so soft she wasn't sure she had actually heard it and she soon felt her feet and body lowered into warm hot soothing water.

“Thank you,” the woman said to Sesshoumaru as he stepped away.

“Rin, call me when you are finished. Woman, what is your name?” Sesshoumaru demanded the knowledge wishing to know what to call her.

“I have no name, call me what you like,” she said softly as she tried to hide the sadness in her voice.

Sesshoumaru left their - well Rin's - sight but stayed close enough to hear their conversation as well as be to their aide quickly should they need help.

“How old were you when you were sent away?” Rin asked curiously as she washed the woman's unruly hair.

“I remembering feeling the ground freeze three times, so I believe I was four years old.”

“How did you eat, if you can't see?” Rin asked her innocence soothing to the woman who was far too used to be ridiculed for her disability.

“I learned the sounds that the crows and other birds make when they come across meat and I learned to follow the sounds until I came across what they were eating.”

Disgusting, Sesshoumaru thought as he sat high in a tree and watched the two females bathe, the meat would have already been too spoiled for a human or youkai to eat without becoming ill. His eyes focused on the strange woman's face. She was beautiful for a human, tall, the top of her head coming to his shoulder. Her form was muscular and trim, the toning coming from a life lived alone in the wilderness.

“Didn't it make you sick to eat that?” Rin asked and Sesshoumaru returned his attention to the conversation.

“I couldn't see the plants or anything around me, so I couldn't pick berries or other edible plants. No one ever taught me what they…how old are you Rin?” she asked changing the subject, the previous one bringing her far too close to tears.

“I'm seven years old!” Rin said proudly.

“Rin, may I…may I see you?” she asked the child hesitantly.

“But you said you can't see,” Rin said confused.

“Not like everyone else does, but I can see in my own way. May I see you?” she asked and Rin agreed. “Here,” the woman said and lifted her hands out of the water. “Put my hands on your face,” she said and Sesshoumaru watched in rapt interest from his perch in the tree.

Rin did as the woman requested and the child closed her eyes as she felt the woman slowly glide her fingers over her face, tracing each contour and line, each bone and soft cushioned muscle. Rin's eyes opened as the woman's hands left her face and found her to be smiling.

“You're very beautiful aren't you Rin, your father must be so proud.”

That was the second time the woman had made reference to Rin's father. Did the woman somehow know the man, Sesshoumaru wondered.

“My father?” Rin asked her in confusion.

“Well yes. It is strange though that you call your father by his name and title. Is this how it is with most children? It's been so long and I've forgotten.”

She thought he was Rin's father?! But then again, Sesshoumaru thought, without her sight she couldn't see that he was youkai and Rin was human. For all she knew he could very well be human or Rin could very well be youkai. Either way, she thought Rin to be his pup.

“Sesshoumaru-sama isn't my father,” Rin said with a giggle.

“Oh,” the woman said her voice betraying her embarrassment. “I'm sorry, it's just…he protects and provides for you and you are a child. I just assumed…”

“It's ok,” Rin said looked around, her eyes not spotting the taiyoukai hidden in the boughs of the oak tree. “Sometimes I imagine he was my pappa. That I had silver hair and gold eyes and pretty colors just like he does,” Rin said with excitement Sesshoumaru's eyes taking on an interested and soft light at her words. She didn't wish him human, she wished herself youkai.

“Colors,” the woman asked in confusion.

“Pa- Sesshoumaru-sama's a youkai an inuyoukai. He's the bestest greatest most powerful youkai in all Japan in all the world!” Rin gushed excitedly in her hero worship.

Unconsciously Sesshoumaru sat up straighter upon his perch, his chest puffing out at Rin's proud words. A slight smile tugged at his lips and he allowed it to show since no one was there to see his show of emotion. He almost chuckled, but stopped himself, his cold mask falling back into place though he was chuckling silently at Rin's proud words as she described him to the blind woman. A single silver brow rose when Rin called him pretty and said how she loved to brush his hair - what did she just say? Both brows disappeared under the fringe of his silver bangs. So that was how he had woken up with a head thick and full of flowers, he had spent nearly two hours pulling more than two hundred bedraggled flowers from his hair, from root to tip they were twisted in his locks.

That had happened nearly two weeks ago and now he found that he had Rin to thank for it, though he had suspected her involvement in it all along. Whenever he asked her though, she would simply say that he was pretty and look at him with that innocent angelic smile of hers, the one that formidable though he was, had the power to turn him to mush.

His attention was again commanded back to the bathing pair by a loud splash and Rin's frantic calls for him, the woman was nowhere in sight. Not more than a second later he was at the spring's side, his arms deep in the water as he retrieved the woman struggling to break to the surface. The taiyoukai lifted the unnamed woman clear out of the water and settled her in his lap, not wishing to dirty her again so soon and held her to him as she coughed up the spring water she had swallowed, her breaths raspy and harsh.

“I'm sorry to be so much trouble,” the woman said softly as she collapsed against him, her energy spent, exhaustion overwhelming her and dragging her into darkness.

“Sesshoumaru-sama,” Rin said once she was dressed and had helped him dress the woman in his under kimono once more. “Why did that man hurt her?”

“Because he could,” Sesshoumaru said, knowing that unfortunate though it was, it was not the first time the woman had been hurt in such a manner, her blindness leaving her drastically vulnerable.

“I don't understand,” Rin said as she looked up at her lord as he settled himself beneath the thick curtain of a weeping willow, Rin at his side as the woman slept against his other side.

I know you don't Rin, he thought. “Pray that you never will Rin.”

“Sesshoumaru-sama…can the pretty lady stay with us? Can we keep her?” Rin asked as though asking about a puppy that had followed her home.

“Why would you wish for such a thing Rin?” he asked indifferently wanting to know her reasoning before giving her an answer one way or another, though he had already decided to keep the woman with them.

“She has no family, we could be her family. And she has no one to protect her and you're the bestest protector there is!”

“Yes Rin, she may stay with us,” he said after a long moment, but only because you asked me to. Only for you do I do these things Rin, only for you.

A.N.: I know, I know the last thing you all want from me is another story, but once this one is done (which will only be two or three more parts) then I will return to my other stories, if not sooner. Sorry for being so scatter brained.
