InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Bedtime Stories ❯ The Begining ( Chapter 1 )
Hi all. I got some inspiration last night and I started to write a new story. Here it is title might change though.

Chapter one~ The beginning
I watched the rain fall down. It was pouring outside. Thunder rumbled in the distance, moment's later lightning flashed. It's miserable weather really. If it didn't let up soon we'd be stuck here for the night. Not that I minded. I love the shrine. It's like a second home. Hell, I practically grew up here. More rumbling of thunder came along another flash of lightning. "Mai? Sweetie? Are you ok?"
"I'm fine Auntie." I replied, turning to face her. My aunt stood before me in sweats. She looked beautiful. I almost envy her. She could get clothes out of the garbage and still look absolutely stunning.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked.
"Nothing." I replied automatically.
"Nothing? Somehow I find that hard to believe."
"Just about the shrine."
"Ah. I see." She said. Auntie was the closest thing to a mother I will ever know. She is only 46, married once, and divorced once. She is caring, generous, kind, and cheery even through the tough times. "You're probably gonna spend the night." She said after a few moments of silence.
"I know."
"Alright." She said. She knew when I was upset. She also knew when I didn't feel like talking about it.
"Tell me about her again?" I was asking about my mother. Dad never talked about her. It's still too painful I guess.
"Let's see. You're mother was a beautiful woman named Anzu. She met your father in college. They were made for each other. She was kind but stern when need be. I loved her a lot. We were really close. What I remember about her most is her smile. When she smiled-"
"-She lit up the room." We both finished. I had heard this story many times.
"I'm forgetting." I stated.
"…I once had a friend. His mother died when he was really young too. I remember him telling me he was loosing his memory of her. So you know what I told him?"
"No what?"
"I said that `one day you'll come across something that will remind you of her. That memory will then always be special because you were not trying to remember her. From then on that memory will always stay with you and then you will not have the problem of forgetting her."
"Wise advice." I told her.
"Thank you."
"Who was he?"
"Hm?"
"The man who lost his mother?" I had a feeling I already knew. It was probably the man from her "adventures". But maybe it wasn't. I mean I had heard all the stories. I think.
"Our favorite hanyou. Inuyasha." She muttered barely audible. I smiled. Another person only Auntie talked about. Dad was still pissed that he broke her heart. Seriously though, he should let it go. It's been what? 30 years?
When I was little, Auntie would tell me stories about her "adventures". They were stories to keep me quiet for an hour. Now, I don't believe that she actually went to the feudal era, but I acknowledge Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and everyone else she "came across" as real people adapted to a story to keep a grieving six year old occupied. I looked at the clock. It read 11:01.
"I'm gonna go to sleep."
"OK. Good Night, Mai."
""Good Night, Aunt Kagome."
