Prologue Part I: Kagome's Bio

My name is Kagome Higurashi. I am fifteen years old and I attend Shikon High. I live in Tokyo, Japan in an old and dusty shrine that has been in my family for ages. My family isn't the richest people in Japan. I live with my mother, brother: Souta, and my grandfather. It is really hard for my mother to take care of the three of us, so whenever I have time I usually prepare the meals or find a job: which isn't easy. Why you ask? It's not that I look horrible, actually I couldn't even tell. The real reason is that I am blind. And not many people would want a blind person for a worker.

So why couldn't my family give me an operation? Because we can't afford it, as much as my family wanted to give me one…my mother alone is the only one with a job. My grandfather is too old and sick to go and find job. And my little brother is too young, he wouldn't understand. So it was up to me to look after grandpa and Souta while my mother goes to work. It isn't easy handling homework, school, and your family when you are blind. But I wasn't born blind. It was an accident that I got blind…

I remember very well on how I got blind…back then I was happy, and I was popular…

~Flashback

"Hey Kagome! Eri, Yuka and I are going to the movies want to come?" One of my best friends-Araimi grinned at me.

"Sure, why not?" I smiled. It has been really long since I last saw them, mostly because I was busy looking after my family…and my grandpa made up excuses like I had tapeworms.

"I heard there's a really cool movie!" Eri beamed. "It's the first movie of gundam seed!" [Sakura: Sorry, I don't think there is one, but my friend is crazy about gundam seed]

Araimi, Yuka, and I sweatdropped: Eri never learns, does she?

Eri chatted happily for the rest of the trip about how cool the strike gundam is.

Once again Araimi, Yuka, and I sweatdropped about Eri's obsession with gundam seed: She has been crazy about it ever since she was little.

Later after the movie, we were outside waiting for Eri's dad to pick us up. That is, until thugs show up.

"Hey, how about a little fun?" One of them grinned. He made a grab for Eri, but luckily she pulled away.

"Leave us alone!" I screamed hitting one of them in the arm with my bag.

One of them grabbed me, when I slapped him he looked very angry.

"You bitch!" He took out his knife and stabbed me in the eyes. Blood came pouring out, as I saw nothing, but blackness.

A minute later I heard Eri scream, but I couldn't do a thing, I feel so…helpless. Then I heard Yuka and Araimi's scream, know I know what happened to them. They were killed.

A week later the doctors informed me that a dog saved me, when I asked them how they said that they didn't know.

"He only bought you in here with a note saying that you were attacked and that your friends were killed." The doctor informed me. "Your friends are Eri Matsuwa, Yuka Houshino, and Araimi Minowa [1] correct?"

That was the day my world came crashing down and I never did get over the loss of my friends.
