Dislaimer: I never have, never will.

“What do you want from me, Inuyasha? Everything. I've given you everything. Don't I deserve to be happy too. Or is this what you want? My unhappiness for your happiness?”

Inuyasha didn't reply. He tightened his grasp on Kikyou and looked across the clearing at the weary Kagome. Sango and Miroku flanked Kagome, their weapons drawn out.

Inuyasha's amber gaze narrowed, “Keh! Sop being so selfish, Ka-go-me. You know you weren't meant for this time. And that is Kikyou's soul you have. We just want it back.”

Kagome didn't bother to weep or scream. Her heart had been shattered a long time back, when Inuyasha had insisted on Kikyou traveling with them and then moving on to demean Kagome every chance he got. But this was the last straw.

“So what you're saying is that you want to kill me, so that MY soul goes into Kikyou. Is that what you're saying?”

Inuyasha didn't even flinch, “Keh.”

This time Kagome's eyes turned into slits, “Well then you can forget it, you asshole! This is MY soul, not hers! She died, and her soul moved onto her next incarnation and so on till it reached me and I'm not going to die, just so Kikyou can live and you two can make merry!”

Inuyasha's eyes flared in rage, “Watch your mouth, bitch! It wasn't Kikyou's time to die! Now that Naraku is dead, she can live again providing you give back what was hers willingly and if not…” He flexed his claws.

Now Kagome laughed, “You, Inuyasha, are an idiot. No, you're worse than that! You are completely blind! People die when its their time to die. It was Kikyou's time to die, so she died, whatever the circumstances. If you are so insistant on getting her soul back then why don't you go find her descending incarnation, but wait,” she looked at the hanyou, mockingly, “You can't take back her soul, because Seshoumaru wouldn't let you kill Rin, and neither will I.”

Inuyasha growled threateningly, “The brat's soul is too weak. Yours is appropriate for Kikyou. She needs yours!”

Kagome smiled, her weariness forgotten, now she was just angry, “Shame on you, Inuyasha, calling Kikyou's soul weak. You think I don't know why you want my soul. I am powerful and no, I am not saying it out of arrogance. It's pure fact. I am more powerful, and if you don't watch it, I'll take back MY piece of soul from that clay body next to you.”

Inuyasha snarled and leapt forward, a red blur. Before Kagome could react, a white blur countered the attack and flung Inuyasha back against the trees. Kagome let out a small gasp as Seshoumaru stood in front of her, his back facing her. She instinctively knew he was standing in a protective stance.

“Seshoumaru.”

The demon lord also known as the Killing Perfection, didn't look at hr as he spoke in cool and even tones, “I told you miko, that my business with you is not finished as of yet. Did I not say that?”

Kagome's eyes widened, “Yes, you did.”

Sango put down her weapon as did Miroku, “You're late, Lord Seshoumaru. We were expecting you earlier.”

Kagome gaped at her two friends and her mouth fell open when Sesoumaru replied, “I was held up, monk.”

Miroku looked at Sango, and they backed off.

“What's going on? Sango? Miroku?”

Seshoumaru answered for them, “You see miko, I confided my intentions to the demon slayer and the monk, before the battle began. They were to protect you from Inuyasha should I be a little late.”

“F-from Inuyaha? You knew? All of you knew?”

Her friends nodded, just as Inuyasha came barging into the clearing, followed by an equally pissed off Kikyou.

“What the fuck do you want, you bastard!? This has nothing to do with you!”

Seshoumaru gave his brother a disgusted look, “You are wrong, half breed. As my future mate, the miko is my concern.”

Shocked gasps from Inuyasha, and Kikyou, were overridden by Kagome's gasp. Her face was a sight to behold, “How? When? But-“

“Does this truly surprise you, miko? I have courted you in the inu fashion for the last seven months. You should have seen this coming.”

Inuyasha growled, “That ain't gonna happen, asshole! Kagome is giving her soul to Kikyou, so she'll be too busy being dead to mate you.”

Seshoumaru's face grew colder if that was possible, “Do not insult my mate, half breed!”

Inuyasha leapt forward and nothing could be seen except for the flashes of white against red.

Kagome, trying to keep up with the two brothers, heard the sound of an arrow being hitched. Turning around she gazed into the livid gaze of the dead miko, “I will have my soul back!”

As Kagome looke intot he soulless eyes, she realized that she could and would do what she should have done, three years ago. As the arrow flew towards her, she pulled together all her miko powers and pulled back her soul.

A scream of anguish and fury was heard in the clearing and the two brothers jumped apart.

“KIKYOUUU!!!!”

Inuyasha's roar of grief didn't even touch Kagome as she gazed coldly at the pile of ash now lying on the ground. Whirling around, she started to walk away. Her heart was cold and hard. The piece of soul that had ripped back into her had been filled with hate and bitterness and had frozen her. Her mind, her body, her emotions, her heart.

“You Bitch!”

She turned around to see Seshoumaru in front of her, protecting her from a demon Inuyasha.

“Step aside, Seshoumaru. I will deal with this. This is my fight now.”

A.N: If you like this and want me to go on, say so. This was just a piece of random crap.
