InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Birthday Wishes ❯ Two days ( Chapter 1 )
Two days. Inuyasha had given her only had two days this time. Dropping her heavy yellow bag on the floor, Kagome flopped onto her bed and sighed. `It would sure be nice to have some time with my family and friends… and my grades are slipping. Oh, who am I kidding. My grades hit rock bottom months ago.', she thought to herself. She walked over and sat down at her desk to stare blankly at her open English book. It was Sunday, and she had a major test the next day. "This is pointless! I don't even remember the basics… I'm doomed! ", she cried miserably. A knock on the door brought her out of her cheerless thoughts.
"Kagome? Lunch is ready." Kagome smiled sweetly at her mother and thanked her. Making her way downstairs, she paused to pet Buyo who was sprawled lazily on a step.
"Haven't a care in the world, do you boy?" Buyo yawned in reply and closed his eyes.
As she entered the kitchen, her grandfather and Souta were having an argument. "It should be blue! It's her favorite color!" said Souta. "Listen to your elders, boy! I say it should be pink!" replied the sour-faced old man. "Blue!" "Pink!" "Blue!!" "Pink!!"
Kagome silently watched the verbal ping-pong match between the two, before clearing her throat. "Hello? What're you guys arguing about?"
Souta brought his hand to the back of his neck and grinned sheepishly. "Uhh… nothin', sis!" Kagome turned a questioning look towards her jii-chan. "Umm, yes, nothing Kagome." he stammered. "Uhh…mmm! What smells so good?" With that, he quickly busied himself with preparing some ramen. Gathering her own bowl, the young miko eyed her family members suspiciously, then shrugged and ate her lunch. "Well, I guess I better get back to studying", Kagome sighed.
Her mother nodded and watched her daughter slowly climb the steps. Hearing the door close, she glared at the two men standing in front of her. "You two!! You almost ruined the surprise!" she scolded. "What am I going to do with you? Kagome's birthday is two days away, and we still have things to prepare! Now, quit squabbling and get going!! You only have the rest of this afternoon to pick up her gift." Nodding, Souta and Gramps mumbled a half-hearted reply and got ready to leave. Kagome's mother cleared the table and rolled her eyes. "I just hope her present doesn't come back half blue and half pink."
Unbeknownst to anyone, a certain hanyou listened intently from outside the window. "Kagome's birthday is in two days? I wonder why she didn't mention it." A smirk played on his lips. "Perfect.", he grinned, "I know just what to get her." He chuckled to himself all the way back to the well.
Back in the Feudal Era, Inuyasha hopped out of the well and ran at breakneck speed towards the village. `I'll need help with what I'm planning for Kagome. That monk had better be around…' Breaking through the treeline, Inuyasha spotted Shippou and Kirara chasing each other's tails near Kaede's hut. "Hey twerp! Have you seen Miroku anywhere?" Shippou stopped running and thought for a second. "Nope! I saw him earlier with Sango by the river, but other than that I haven't seen him all day! Come to think of it, they've been gone for a while!" A smirk found it's way to Inuyasha's lips, but he didn't voice what he was thinking to the young kitsune. "Well, when you see him, tell him I need to talk to him. I'll be back by sunset." With that, Inuyasha bounded up into the trees and disappeared. Shippou shrugged and returned to the interrupted game.
A/N: Hehe. What's Kagome getting for her birthday? And what's Inuyasha planning? I'm a little nervous writing this… I promise it'll get better. This is my first chapter of my first fic ever! Please review!
