[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: I'm only writing this chapter for my single and very special reviewer. -grins- thankies!!! ^^ Oh, and because I forgot to tell you all that read this before, there will probably be some major OOC, but thats ok. Tell me what you think ^^

Last Time:

"Leave me the hell alone," I say angrily, tears running down my cheeks. I struggle to get away, but he holds my wrists to the ground.

"You're not getting away that easily."

"You bastard," I half-shout, my eyes tearing up once more.

And then, I feel his hand come in contact with my head, and after that, the last thing I remember is seeing Inuyasha throwing Kijuro and his friends out onto the street; and then seeing a flash of colors. I was still conscious, but barely there.

Bleeding Heart

Three: Heal

"Look what they've done to you..." I hear him say, his voice shaking with fear.

I open my eyes as he kneels next to me and sits me up. I use him for support as I adjust, a sharp pain shooting through my back. I shake the feeling off.

I close my eyes as he brushes the hair away from my face.

"I'm all right," I say, my voice barely above a whisper.

"No...you're not. I'm sorry..." his voice trails off. He moves his arm toward me to embrace me, and I jump back; a reaction I can't control.

"Kagome..." he says softer than I've ever heard him speak. "I'm not going to hurt you."

I turn away, afraid to look into his amber eyes. "I'm sorry...it's just that..."

"I know," Inuyasha states firmly, pulling me close. A certain queasiness is brewing in my stomach, and my back is piercing each second with pain from being thrown into the wall. I huddle closer to him, and let my tears flow freely.

"It's okay," he says softly, caressing my arm.

For me, it's hard to believe he's here. Sure, he's nice to me, but he usually chooses his friends over me. I decide not to question it; it feels too good to be in his arms.

"Come on, let's get you home," he says, helping me to my feet. I another pain shoots up my back and I almost stumble over again, but Inuyasha helps me steady myself. I brush myself off, ridding me of the dirt on my clothes.

Inuyasha puts his arm around me and leads me to his car. I'll have to tell Sango and Rin that I got sick or something...I can't tell them what really happened.

The ride to my house is completely silent. Not awkward silence, just...silence.

We reach my house and he walks me to the door.

"Did you want to come in?" I ask softly. He nods and walks inside.

"Inuyasha," I say, once we're seated on the couch together. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to ruin your Friday night..." I don't know why, but I oddly feel like this is all my fault.

"Don't apologize," he says. "I should have been there."

A wave of comfort engulfs me as I hear his words; he really is protective. The last thing I suspected him to be.

"Why?" I ask suddenly, not sure where the word came from.

"Huh?"

"Why'd you come? Why'd you save me from that?"

"You shouldn't have to go through anything that horrible...and I'm sorry. They have no right to do that to you. I'll make sure it never happens again. I promise." Something surges through my body as he says that...love, maybe?

"Thanks," I say. "Inuyasha...why aren't we friends anymore?" I feel like a six year old asking him this.

"I don't know..." he says. "It sort of...happened. I'm sorry." He reaches out to touch my arm, and I flinch; I don't know if I'll ever get over my on-edge feeling.

"Damn it, Kagome! I'm not going to hurt you," he says. he voice had a hint of anger, but mostly concern...he didn't raise his voice once.

"I'm sorry, it's just -"

"No, I know, sorry..." he reaches out once more to embrace me and I let him, returning his action. He lays down so I am laying next to him, careful of my back, and he runs a clawed finger down my cheek.

"How could they do that to someone as beautiful as you..." he whispers, looking into my eyes.

I snuggle into him, feeling safe in his arms. "Stay here," I say.

"What?"

"Stay with me tonight."

He responds by holding me closer, and I feel him kiss me on the forehead before I fall asleep in his arms.

*_*-*_*-*_*

I wake up to find that Inuyasha is still with me, and is looking down at me, a soft smile on his face.

"How long have you been awake?" I ask, rubbing my eyes. Waking up to see his face makes me 'warm and fuzzy' inside, and feel safer than I normally do, wrapped in his arms.

"Not long," he replies.

I smile and sigh contently. Despite last night's events, I feel happy; I'm glad to be where I am.

"Feeling better?" he asks, a hint of worry in his voice. I nod.

And it's true. I am feeling better. Last night's happenings seem so far away. and having Inuyasha near makes things thousands times better.

"You sure? You went through some tough shit last night..."

"Yeah, I'm sure," I say, a small smile forming.

He puts a hand on my shoulder and I do not flinch; as hard as it is not to.

He smiles, something unusual for him to do, but I can see guilt in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I ask, hoping everything's okay.

"If only I was there sooner -"

"Hey," I scold. "Don't be telling yourself that this is your fault, 'cause it's not!"

"I know, but, Kagome -"

"No, it's not your fault. End of story. Don't apologize," I state firmly. I won't take this from him.

"Fine. Then let me at least apologize for something else."

I look into his eyes, searching for what he means, listening intently.

"I'm sorry for leaving you."

"For what? Inuyasha -"

"No, wait. I blew you off after sixth grade...and maybe, if I hadn't, you wouldn't be sitting here with bruises on your back and scrapes on your cheeks. Things might be easier for you now."

"Don't say that..."

"No, just accept it, please," he begs. He's truly sorry for the whole thing.

I nod, accepting his apology. He did leave me...well, sort of, anyway.

"So," he says. "What do you want to do today?"

"Stay like this," I reply, snuggling closer into his embrace. New feelings are taking over me, and I'm beginning to think that I'm in love with this hanyou...why? Because right now, I have this sensational feeling that I want him to hold me and never...never let go.

Next Time: Four: Truth

"Guys," I say. "It's okay. Everything's fine. I swear it. I wouldn't lie to you guys."

They nod, both understanding.

"So...what's exactly going on between you two?" Sango asks.

Hmm...fluff! Well...not fluff...just a fluffy-ful feeling. Oh well. Anyway, I think I actually have an idea of where this is going! ^^ I'll make sure to update soon ^-~
