Bleeding Hearts

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha.

It starts:

Kagome stood in the middle of a bloody battle field. She was covered in blood and ice cold rain that fell from the sky. Her school uniform, that she lovingly took care of throughout the team's adventures, was shredded to rags and the soft green was unrecognizable under all of the dirt, grime, and blood. Her hands shook as she lifted her head to look around. The surrounding scene appeared just how she felt, dead. Bodies around her were all dead, demons and humans alike. Dead.

Her eyes scanned the evil around her. Sango was sobbing over her dead brothers body for a second time, and Miroku tried to pry away the corpse from her hands. Shippou was lying up against a tree holding the bloody form of a little girl, Rin, who was slowly drowning in her own blood. Kouga, prince of the demon wolf clan, was carrying away his two best friends who lost their lives to protect him. Sesshomaru, broken and bloody, who even in death tried to reach for the sword of the heavens that could have the power to save them all.

And last but not least, Inuyasha, Kagome's secret love. Screaming at the gods over his old love Kikyou, who said her parting words of farewell and crumbled in his arms.

Kagome had enough. She knew, by his reaction to Kikyou's death, that he could never love her as she did him. She took her only chance.

She walked over to Inuyasha and held out the newly formed Shikon no Tama. It was glowing a soft pink in their dark world, with a tint of grey from the sadness in Kagome's broken heart. A tear slid down Kagome's ravaged cheek as she reached out and grabbed Inuyasha cold hand. She placed the jewel in him palm and smiled up at him. The astonished look on his face just broke her heart even more.

“Please take it Inuyasha, I want you to have it, to see you happy again.” Kagome said while choking down a sob. Her eyes seamed to shimmer with unshed tears, and a wisdom of the future that was even unknown to her at the time. Inuyasha's ears drooped in a sad way that no longer looked cute, but full of anguish. Kagome marveled for a brief second on how two small things can express such a large emotion.

“But Kagome…I…,” He stared sadly trying to pass back the jewel to its true holder. Kagome took a step back, held up her hands in surrender, and shook her head, as if to shake away the tears.

“ No buts Inuyasha, I wont take it back…. Please purify it for me.” She stated simply. She knew she didn't receive his true love, and the one who he wanted to be with lay in ashes at their feet.
It was the least she could do for him, after he saved her life so many times.

His hands closed around the jewel and he gave her a water, sad smile. She grinned back, a grin that didn't reach her eyes at all.
Inuyasha took a deep shuttering breath and closed his eyes, clutching the jewel with all of his weakened strength. Even though his lips made no movement everyone for miles around heard his hearts call, his one wish.
`Please, God please, let Kikyo rise from the grave again so we can live together, in a life of love. And please revive all of my friends loved ones and return them to them in their time of grief.'
The prettiest words Inuyasha has ever spoken had to be the ones that would condemn Kagome to a life of loneliness.
His eyes opened slowly and his gaze carefully took in his surrounding as if looking for some sign of renewed life. Just as his eyes fell in agony a blinding pink light broke free from the jewel and engulfed the bloody field.
Kagome stood in aw for a second before her body was repelled out of the pink circle surrounding her friends and loved ones. She felt a tingling sensation as the light started to fade. Inuyasha looked up and smiled, Kohaku stood up and Rin started taking whole, deep breaths.

Everyone looked so happy, and Kagome was so glad, but she could not reach them. The gates of hell opened up and a reborn Kikyo emerged from its depths. Kagome started to feel sick, and not only because of the look of happiness on Inuyasha face as he flung his arms around his twice dead love, but because of her fading figure. Kikyo and Inuyasha hugged and cried while pain shot through every one of Kagome's nerves. She screamed in horror.

Everyone's happy gazes turned to concern as Kagome's breathing became heavy. Inuyasha tried to take a step towards her, but with every step he took Kagome's body slid back. He cried her name but she couldn't hear him, she only saw his lips move, and the scared expression on his face.

She held out her arms as if begging him for his help, but he couldn't save her this time. He started to scream for her but she couldn't hear anything, not even the beat of her own heart. Everyone watched the scene unfold around them. The ugly head of ill fate bared down on Kagome.

Her eyes closed briefly and she opened them to take one last look of her only love, her first love, and then, she disappeared slowly. Everyone reached for her but her gaze became cloudy and her form became transparent.

The last thing she heard before drifting into unconsciousness was a woman's voice saying, “One soul to one century.”
And Kagome simply faded into no more…. Feeling nothing but the betrayal of a first love, which she brought onto herself.

So tell me what you think?
It's becoming quite the dark fic!
I think I used a lot of detail. I also wrote this about two years ago so stick with me people.
