Chapter 3: Found and disappointment

 

After hours of searching he finally found her. He finally found his beloved Kikyo. His eyes widened and his ears gave a twitch. Inuyasha walked closer to her but Kikyos scent became fainter. He then ran towards her and reached out to hold her again. But as he did his hand just went right through Kikyos body and then she disappeared.

 

“NNNOOO! Kikyo come back.” He screamed `was she there? Was Kikyo really there or was it my imagination? Was her smell my imagination too?' Inuyasha thought.

 

He went over to the river and scooped up a handful of water. Splashed it on his face and scooped up another handful to take a drink. He had to clear his mind to realize if it was just an illusion in his mind. As he thought for a moment he figured it was just his imagination and so he got up. `Kikyo is dead and isn't coming back this time.' He convinced himself.

Inuyasha then started back for the camp. He has been gone all night and Kagome might be worried. He got closer and closer knowing that Kagome will probably be pissed of for making him worried and the others would just have to side with her. He then saw the glowing of the fire and heard a small voice in front of him.

 

“Hey Inuyasha, your back. But where is Kagome?” Shippo asked while staring up at the much taller Hanyou.

 

“Didn't she ever come back here? We had a fight and she said that she was coming back and that she was going to relax in the hot springs.”

 

Sango got up and looked rather confused and worried about her friend.

 

“She didn't ever come back. We figured she was with you this whole time.” Sango stated.

 

“DAMN IT!”

 

“Are you going to go looking for her Inuyasha?” asked Miroku also worried about the miko.

 

“Of course. What the hell do you think I'm going to do you stupid monk?” Inuyasha growled

 

Miroku wasn't affected to Inuyashas insult considering he is always like that. He just kept his worried expression on his face. Inuyasha then ran back out into the woods trying to pick up her scent. `Blood. Kagomes blood and lots of it. How could I have missed it? Please Kagome don't die. Just hold on so I can find you.'

Kagome managed to get about a mile away from the palace. She didn't know she could have done it from being so weak but she did it. She grabbed on all the branches she could to help pull her along. But then Kagome began to get too weak and collapsed. She has lost an insane amount of blood and she figured she should just die there. But she did not want to die all alone. Kagome always though that if she was killed that Inuyasha would at least be there, holding her, as she passed on.

Tears began to roll down her face at the thought of Inuyasha abandoning her. She really couldn't put it passed him though consider how she treated him. But she knew that Inuyasha wouldn't do that. Hell, she shouldn't have even blamed her self in the first place because Inuyasha is always such a jerk. Then she started to think of the other possible reason as she did earlier, that he could be dead. She really couldn't of believed that either but why else did he not come for her.

She started to pass out when she her something running through the trees. He finally came to save her. Inuyasha found her there lying on the ground. He ran after her yelling Kagomes name. He put his hand behind her neck and tried to slightly lifter her head up.

 

“Wha…what had happened to you?” he said softly as he noticed the foul smell of Naraku all over her body. “I will kill that bastard and ha will never lay a hand on you again” He yelled after he realized what Naraku had done. He then reached for a hug but before he could get her into a full hold she began to speak.

 

“Where were you Inuyasha?” She said as she then fell unconscious.

 

He paused and thought about his search for Kikyo. Inuyasha has broken yet another promise but this one is the one he had made to Kagome. He held her tight but not too tight so he wouldn't hurt Kagome where her wounds were. He slowly picked her up bridal style and ran her to Kaedes Village. Hopefully she would be able to save Kagome from death. InuYasha felt so guilty and he had a right to. `I'm sorry Kagome. Forgive me. I have broken my promise to you and never again will that happen.'

Inuyasha felt her heart beat weaken. She was covered in cold sweat and she was barely alive. Luckily they where nearing the village. As they got there he saw Shippou, Sango, and Miroku waiting with Kaede. They figured that Kagome was hurt so they knew that Inuyasha would take her there. They all ran towards him asking what had happened. He ignored them and went into a hut to set her on a mat.

 

“Where did ye find young Kagome?” Kaede asked while Sango, Shippou, and Miroku were listening in by the door.

 

“She was lying down in the woods.” He said watching over Kagome.

 

“Do ye know what happened to she?”

 

“I believe she was raped.” He stated followed by a gasp from outside the hut.

 

“Raped? How can ye be certain?”

 

“I smelt Naraku all over her and her underwear is missing.”

 

“Naraku? And where were ye Inuyasha when such a horrible was done?”

 

Inuyasha paused and thought about his search for Kikyo again. Shippou then entered the room very angry and knew what he must have been doing.

 

“You were out looking for Kikyo again weren't you?” Shippou screamed.

 

Inuyasha sat down and started stroking Kagomes hair. He had pure guilt written all over his face. He sat there saying nothing for a couple of seconds which seemed like forever and finally spoke.

 

“Yes…I did go searching for Kikyo again.” He said followed again by another gasp from Miroku and Sango outside.

 

“How could you Inuyasha. You made a promise to Kagome that you would protect her. Now she is going to die because of you. I HATE YOU INUYASHA!” Screamed the pissed off little Kitsune. He then began to cry like a child that he is and Sango and Miroku came in to comfort him. Sango gave the coldest stare towards Inuyasha he almost felt scared that she was going to kill him then and there.

 

“SHUT UP SHIPPOU! SHE ISN'T GOING TO DIE!” He yelled with his eyes watering.

 

“Tell me Inuyasha. Did ye find my dead sister Kikyo?” Kaede questioned.

 

“Yes and no, she…she was just in my imagination. She was never really here.” He said quietly still stroking her hair.

 

“Inuyasha just leave.” Shippou said still sobbing

 

“Fine.” He said as he gave Kagome a kiss on the forehead and left the hut.

 

He went outside by the river and sat in a tree. He just sat there for hours thinking about what happened. He replayed every moment in his mind where he let Kagome down. He figured it would take a century to think about all those events. But as he was thinking he looked down as a reaction to hearing his name called. It was hours later and Kagome was finally conscious and bandaged. She was alive but very weak. All he could think about was that he had done this to her.

 

“Inuyasha!” She called very softly.

 

“Kagome, you shouldn't be moving. Go back and get some rest.”

 

“Inuyasha, you never answered my question. The whole time I was wonder where you were. I thought you might have been capture, or worse, killed. Inuyasha, where were that whole time.”

 

Inuyasha was silent. By his reaction Kagome knew very well that he was looking for Kikyo yet again.

 

“Never mind.” Kagome said while her heart broke even more then it already has. She sat down by the tree Inuyasha was in. She just laid her head on the tree not showing any sign that she was mad at him.

 

“I'm sorry Kagome. I know it might make a difference since I have had to say it so often but I am sorry for what that sick bastard. But trust me when I say this, He won't get away this time, next time I see him he WILL die.” Inuyasha said full of outstanding rage.

 

“I know you are sorry, and I know you might think you will be killing him for me but when he is screaming right before he vanishes you will be thinking about Kikyo and how you avenged her.”

 

“No Kagome that isn't how it's going to…” He said until she interrupted.

 

“Stop trying to get me to believe that Kikyo doesn't mean more to you then me. You have always loved her and always will. I am but a mere imitation of Kikyo. And when you use to tell how I ment just as much my heart would ach twice as much when I proven you wrong. So please don't say it again. I don't think my heart would bear it one more time.”

 

Inuyasha was shocked. He had no idea that she felt way. Yes he knew that he had her too many times to count. But he didn't know he did it like that.

 

“Kagome stop…” He said while once again being interrupted.

 

“Inuyasha I will make a trade. If I give up the rest of my soul so that Kikyo can come back to life you have to promise to live the life you wanted with her before Naraku tricked you. You can live your life together forever without me interfering.”

 

Inuyasha jumped down by her side and looked into her eyes.

 

“Kagome that isn't what I want. Trust me it isn't.”

 

“I will always love you.”

 

Kagome put her hands on her chest as Kagomes body started to pulsate. The souls emerged from her body and her eyes went black. Her body was limp and she was just another soulless body.

 

“Kagome NO! This isn't what I wanted. What I wanted was to spend my life with you. Please wake up and take back your soul.” He yelled holding her close in his arms.

 

But she didn't wake up. And now Kikyo must now be alive.
