Chapter 4: Sleek As the Night

The young miko tossed and turned on the mattress. She couldn't sleep after Inuyasha had barged in on her and made her feel so uncomfortable. He probably knew that he was haunting her dreams but she was supposed to handle this stuff. 'Never before have I not been able to handle a man' Kagome groaned and kicked her leg out of the sheets. The sun would be rising soon and she barely got any sleep. Oh she'd kill the person who gave Inuyasha Taishio her address.

Instead of waiting for the alarm to go off, she popped of bed and decided a nice cold shower would help calm her twisted nerves.

Across town, grinning madly in the mirror at his reflection, Inuyasha was pleased that phase one was working out well. This woman had too sides to her personality which no man knew about except him and boy was he going to make it her downfall. Today he'd stop by her office, play more mind games with her and make her feel even less insecure and then make her knight and shining armor show up. Oh he thanked the holy gods for this opportunity.

Today a nice casual pair of Dockers and white button up shirt with the top two undone, would suit him well. He had to remember that he still had work to deal with though this was one of his main projects. Grabbing his keys off the counter he strolled out.

"Good morning Inuyasha!" Kikyo pounced on him. She was probably waiting at the door for him to come out. He swiftly walked around her and sprinted to his BMW today.

"Inuyasha get back here!" The young girl was about to lunge herself in his car but he immediately punched the gas and he was out of there before she could try and hijack his car or something.

"Wow that was close" He breathed a sigh of relief and went off on his merry way.

"Good morning Kagome" Sango greeted her as she pulled in.

"Morning to you too" She mumbled in response, having no sleep and then coming here was like hell itself.

"Whats wrong, did you stay up late or something?" Kagome walked past her, deciding that she'd didn't need nor want to listen to her friend's interrogation.

The morning was slow and she gulped down another cup of coffee, it had to be like her third. Freshly fallen snow had left a coating outside and the trees now glowed, making her stare in awe. "Such a pretty site"

"Isn't it" A figure from behind creped up on her, startling her. She almost got whiplash when she came face to face to amber orbs.

"What are you doing here?" Kagome backed away from him. Now he was even stalking her at the office.

"Wanted to know if you wanted to go out for lunch oh and these are for you." Inuyasha handed her a dozen red roses which Kagome carefully inspected for any poison powder and then thanked him.

"I'm a little busy today and you did just come to my house last night." She said sitting down in her plush, swivel chair.

"Yea I'm busy too but I took time out of my day to come see you and free lunch is hard to refuse. So please come with me." He was up to something and his voice made the air go still. Though she knew she shouldn't have accepted, one lunch with him couldn't hurt, could it?

"Alright fine, let me just get my bag."

"Glad you decided to see things my way." Inuyasha's smirk came back which made Kagome already inwardly groan about how stupid she must be.

"Let's just get this over with." He opened the door for her which gave him a quick look as her ass before she went to tell Sango that she was taking her lunch break.

"See you in a few" Sango waved to both of them and then continued off on her current task.

"So where we going?" Kagome asked while entering the elevator, pressing ground level.

"It's a surprise." He was a sly one, not that she never dealt with one but usually they'd be off her list with a snap of her fingers, but this one was persistent, had good looks and though his personality with woman needed help he was or could be charming.

"Here we go. I took the BMW today, just for your liking." Kagome rolled her eyes. He had so many cars, but men like to collect cars, woman liked to collect jewelry or clothes, stuff like that. Though unlike most girls, her favorite hobby was traveling but collecting stuff were all just possessions that could be replaced but a memory can never be forgotten.

"Whatcha thinking about, you seem kind of out of it?" Inuyasha asked, trying to lower the cocky attitude.

"Nothing that concerns you" Might as well be harsh, though a pine of guilt made its way to her expression when she noticed the hurt look.

"You don't hate me do you?"

"No I don't hate anything really, dislike stuff but hate no." She replied and watched as he pulled into a cute little café parking lot.

"So you don't hate me but you dislike me?"

"Nope didn't say that either." Kagome loved playing with a guys mind and Inuyasha was so hard to because usually it was him making her feel insecure though why she should in the first place puzzled her mind. He was after all just the publisher.

"Oh so you're madly in love with me? I knew it" He moved his hands and made the kissy kissy noise.

"Get over yourself" Kagome got out of the car, before he could open the door for her and proceeded to make her way inside, with or without Inuyasha. She'd get her lunch, make him pay for it and then demand for him to leave her be. Though it would be nice to get free lunch for awhile, maybe if she played her cards right she might be able too.

The café was cute and clean. That's all she needed to enjoy her lunch, a nice clean serenity. "Be like that; just ditch me, will you. I'll remember." Kagome giggled and asked for a table for two. The lady guided the way to a booth and winked at Kagome. Geez if she wanted him, she'd gladly give him away of course after he paid.

Many people, mainly girls, looked at the couple. Some staring at Inuyasha, some glaring holes in Kagome and secretly wishing she'd die a horrible, painful death.

"Inuyasha" Kagome whispered and leaned down trying to get closer so people wouldn't be able to hear since the place went fairly quiet. She had seemed to attract a few lookers of her own which usually happened but never, well maybe once, get this many people giving her the death glare.

"There staring and making me feel uncomfortable." He snatched a quick peck on the lips which made people even more infuriated, including herself.

"I'm used to it but if you like, baby doll, you can come sit next to me. I'll protect you from those evil girls." He said patting the seat next to him.

"You're not making the situation any better." Kagome sighed and rolled her eyes. The waitress finally came and ordered for them but she'd have to be careful they didn't secretly spike her food.

"Kagome my secret love come here." She wanted to slap herself over the head. She complied and sat next to him and he carefully wrapped his arms around her waist. "Does this make you feel better?" He huskily whispered into her ear.

"No it doesn't. You're making it worse." Lunch didn't seem to be going well. Though it was nice and even though they weren't dating it felt good to be wrapped in his arms. She didn't want to get too attached to him but for once being around him made her feel comfortable and safe.

A/N: A nice fluffy chapter. I thought I needed to update this too and this is not all a fluff story. Well maybe it is but there is a plot. At least I think. Anyway I think I'll update either Poochy or Blind Eyes again. I was thinking about Digging My Grave because I did think of a plot but I'm not exactly sure how to bring it out. Midnight Sun is on hiatus because I have a major writers block with it. Plane Ride to Hell I made a major mistake and I will correct it, eventually. Well tell me what you think and hope you enjoyed!
