The voice said solemnly Shippo's eyes went wide and he glances at Inuyasha. Inuyasha had a similar expression.

Chapter 1:The Mother who could Mother no more.

Inuyasha sniff the air with a scowl on his face. 'Yup this is defiantly the place.' He thought sniffing the air with the strong smell of rotting flesh lingering in it. They had heard rumors of a flesh eating tree terrorizing the villages in this area. Kagome walked up behind Inuyasha, her bow and arrow in hand. Her hair had grown longer over the long two year period she had been in the Feudal Era. She had it pulled in the same low pony tail as Kikyo and it now reach her thighs. She was dressed in a donning a full length black kimono with a slit at the side. Inuyasha stared down at his mate with a serious expression. "This is the place alright, the scent is strong around this area." He told her, she nods and calls Shippo and he comes running out from the trees. Shippo had also grown over the years, He was now at a donning 5'3, standing at Inuyasha's shoulder inches shorter than Kagome. He had hit a sudden growth spurt and sprouted up three feet in the last two years. His hair had also grown, it still was in a high pony tail with the green ribbon but it now rested in the center of his shoulder blades. After mastering the magical arts of being a fox, Shippo had come back to live with Kagome and Inuyasha.
Shippo nods and together the three of them go deeper into the forest. Almost as soon as Kagome stepped foot in the forest the scent of rotting flesh and blood overwhelms her. The scent was so strong it was nauseating to Inuyasha and Shippo both covered their mouths with their Kimonos. Going deeper into the wood the group had yet to see the tree that caused all this mayhem. "Exactly what does this tree look like?" Inuyasha's muffled voice called out. Shippo stopped moving, "Uhh I think I found it." He told them staring at a tree whose whole middle was hollowed out and now a large glob of Maple rested in the middle. Kagome stares at the blob are wonder, "What is that?" She asks. Inuyasha's sharp eyes notice that there was a dark object floating around inside of the maple. "I don't know but I don't like the looks of it." He said drawing Tessaiga from its sheath. Suddenly as if sensing the danger the forest attacks sending vines at the group in quick burst of six at a time. Inuyasha grabs Kagome and jumps from the attacks. Setting her down, he brings his sword down. "Wind Scar!" and the ground and surrounding trees erupt in flames. After the smoke cleared out Inuyasha smirked at seeing the only tree still standing was the one with the hollowed middle, it had a shimmering light purple barrier. Inuyasha walked forward and raised his sword intending to tear this tree down also, but was stopped when the forest started pulsing. "Please...Don't....Don't kill my children..." A woman's voice rang out, seemingly coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. "They're Innocent, They had done no wrong...Leave them be..."The sad voice spoke, begging them. Inuyasha stared at the glob as it continued pulsing. "Your children?" Kagome asked looking around. "Yes, My children..." She paused before starting again. "The villages and I had been living in peace for several centuries...But I became pregnant...and I needed the Nutrients their bodies offered...I tried to stop...but the hunger got to me and I went on a killing rampage...and I seems that I am dying for the horrible act I committed...and I will not be here for their birth...which will be soon..." She trailed off. Inuyasha stared at the glob. "How soon are we talking?" He asked.
"Tonight." She said.
"So you’re telling me that tonight, two newborn flesh-eating things will be born without supervision!?" He asked, with growing irritation.

Inuyasha was too late; the forest had already stopped pulsing. "Dammit." He cursed sheathing his sword. "What do we do now?" Shippo asked him. "We wait." Inuyasha said.
