InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Broken Dreams ❯ I Never Said That I Loved You ( Chapter 4 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

InvincibleInuYasha: Okay, I got a funny review on fanfiction.net from Siren. Uh, thanks for the malt-o-meal. I'll treasure it forever. Or, at least until it's expiration date, lol. And sorry for the other reviewer, I usually write something like, 'Inu Yasha said, "..."' thing before neone says anything, so I'm not sure how it confuses you. I'll try to make sure I write it every time though. Anyway, I'll just start writing again.

Disclaimer: Inu Yasha is not mine. But my birthday is coming up, so.... kekekekeke!

Chapter Four: I Never Said That I Loved You

Miroku jumped off of the cart and shouted a quick, "Thank you!" The cart driver simply grunted and continued on his way. Miroku sped towards the small hut on the outskirts of the village and barged inside, "Sango!" Kaede swiveled around, her back to the crackling fire, and gave a sigh of relief when she saw who it was, "Oh my, Miroku, you gave me quite the scare." Miroku asked desperately, "Lady Kaede, please tell me, is Sango here?" Keade shook her head, "No. They departed from the village just yesterday." Miroku sighed, "Then could you point me in their direction?" Kaede shook her head, "I'm sorry, but you've done something dishonorable. I don't think Sango is ready to see you again just yet." Miroku pleaded, "Please! I know, I was really a jerk for doing that. I really was and now... Now I realize that I really love her. I don't know why I started any of that in the first place. I regret it, and if I could go back, I would, and I'd never do that... But now it's too late. I want to see Sango and apologize, and be forgiven." Kaede shook her head, "If you want to see her so much, I suggest you find her on your own." Miroku turned away and marched out of the house, frustrated and impatient.

He wandered around the village, avoiding the women, and asked around where the group had gone. One of the men had pointed him east, "They said something about a rumored demon who held a sacred jewel shard. You should find them near one of the surrounding villages if you hurry." Miroku wasted no time and ran where the man had told him, faster than he'd ever ran before. 'I'll find you Sango. Please forgive me.'

Inu Yasha picked up the completed Hiraikotsu, impressed, "Wow, Sango. You finished this up really fast. And it is a lot lighter than your other one." Sango said, "Yeah. But becase it's much lighter, I have to practice a little with it, get used to the weight change. But I can get used to it quick enough." Inu Yasha gave the weapon back to her, "So let's go. We can go back to the demon we killed yesterday. There should be a lot of smaller demons around. We have the shards anyway, so we should be heading back to Kaede's today."

Kagome, holding Shippo in her arms, said, "Sango, what if Miroku comes back? Have you thought about it?" Sango's face darkened, "I don't want to see him again. I'll deal with it if he does come. But he's probably to busy these days anyway." Inu Yasha said, "Let's just go. We should be on our way now anyway." Sango shook her head and tried to forget about what Kagome had said. If Miroku does come back, she could simply ignore him. 'He'd probably do the same any way. He doesn't deserve any respect from me anyway.'

After walking back about two miles, the huge corpse of the bear demon was visible, along with some smaller demons scavaging for some flesh. Inu Yasha smirked, "Training time! Let's go. We can all practice here. We'll need to strengthen up since we're a number short now." He didn't pll out his Tetsusaiga. He'd kill too many demons with it, and everyone else had to train too. Instead, he allowed his claws to lengthen and he began slashing at the demons, and kicking at the others. Sang prepared her Hiraikotsu and dressed in her slaying outfit, hidden behind the trees in the forest. Kagome got out her bow and arrows and practice shooting with the moving targets, watching them turn to glitter when her arrows purified them. Shippo threw his toys at the smallest demons, and he also practiced with his foxfire. Even Kilala joined in. Soon enough, all of them were destroying all of the demons. It didn't take to long to clear out the area. Some of the smarter demons had fled in the beginning when they realized what was happening. And the others were destroyed quickly. When they were all finished, they were all panting, with the exception of Inu Yasha who was smirking at the fallen demons, and Kilala.. In the battle, Kagome had uncovered one jewel shard to add to her collection. All in all, it was a good fight.

Inu Yasha said, "More demons are on their way to clean up the mess. Wanna keep this up?" Kagome huffed, "No. That's enough, let's camp out." Sango nodded, "Yeah. It was a good fight, but now I'm tired." Shippo was already asleep inside the basket of Kagome's bicycle. Inu Yasha shrugged, "Okay. Hurry up then. It's getting dark and we'll have no choice but to fight the demons that are coming." Kagome got on her bicycle and was biking to keep up with Inu Yasha, and Sango hopped on Kilala, "Good job Kilala." They traveled for about twenty minutes when Inu Yasha had decided they were far enough from the demons to camp out. They prepared the camp and lit a fire. Shippo had woken up and helped to collect fire wood. He tossed and armful of wood into the fire.

Black smoke floated into the air, choking everyone. Inu Yasha punched Shippo on the head, "Stupid! This wood make black smoke and we won't be able to breathe! Put it out!" Shippo choked out, "Foxfire!", and surrounded the fire in a blue bubble-like sheild. It filled with black smoke and the flames died away rapidly. Everyone was coughing and rubbing their eyes. Inu Yasha punched Shippo again, "Don't do that again!" He picked up a stick that was beside the fire and said, "Get this kind of wood next time, stupid!" Shippo sniffled a little bit and Kagome said, "Sit boy!" Inu Yasha shouted as he fell to the ground.

He got up a moment later, "You wench! He did something wrong, so he should be punished! He'll learn better that way!" Kagome screamed back, "You don't have to hit him! You're only going to make him cry! He's little, and you're going to hurt him!" Inu Yasha said, "What are you going to do about it if I hit him again, huh, wench?" Kagome replied, "I'll say the 'S' word." Inu Yasha rolled his eyes and said sarcastically, "What, 'shit'?" Kagome said, "No. Actually, it's 'Sit'." Inu Yasha plummeted to the ground again. He crawled back out and said, "Whatever." He yelled at Shippo, "Start another fire. But do it right this time!" Shippo scurried back off into the forest, with Kilala at his side, in search of the correct fire wood. Inu Yasha muttered, "Stupid little fox is gonna get it someday..."

A voice behind him said, "Am I interrupting?" Through the dark, noone could tell who it was. But Inu Yasha smelled who it was, "Get the fuck out of here, you sleazy son-of-a-bitch!" Kagome had gone to the fire pit and replaced the wood quickly and started another fire. The light illuminated a small area around the fire pit. Inu Yasha seemed to be growling as the person came closer to the light. Sango gasped when she saw who it was. The person said, "Sango. I..." Inu Yasha shouted, "What do you want!? You left pretty damn eager, so why are you back so soon!? Going to the next village to fuck all the girls there too, huh, Miroku!?" Miroku faced Inu Yasha, "I didn't come here to talk to you. I only want to talk to Sango." He turned to face her, "Privately if you'd allow it." Sango narrowed her eyes at him, "Whatever you want to say to me, you can say right here." Miroku sighed, "Very well then."

He came closerto her and kneeled in front of her, "Sango... I'm sorry." Sango looked him in the eye, "Do you mean that?" Miroku said, "Yes, of course! I regret everything that I did. I did that because I wasn't sure of my feelings. But now I'm sure of them. Sango, I love you!" Sango's eyes widened at him, "You do?" Miroku said, "Yes!" Sango asked nonchalantly, "So, what do you want me to say?" Miroku's face dropped, "What? I was hoping that you would forgive me. I'll do anything for you, give you anything you want in order to gain your trust back. Anything to get you to love me again?" Sango stared at him, "'Again'? What are you talking about? I never said that I loved you. I never did. What made you think that?" Her voice got louder and she began to yell, "You that groping me made me like you? No! It disgusted me! And you think flirting with all the women you see made me find you attractive!? No! It made me see who you really are! And you think that doing what you did is forgivable, and that I would give you my trust back!? You are pathetic for even thinking I would want you near me again! I want to be as far away from you as possible! That's all that I want! You broke my trust, you tricked me, you did those things with all of those women, and all of that made you lose any chance you had with me! There might have been a chance before, but there isn't anymore, and there never will be again." She turned away and said, "I don't want to see you again."

Miroku lowered his head, the shadows from the flames hiding his face, "I-I see." He turned away and walked a few steps and stopped. Inu Yasha asked, "Why aren't you leaving, you asshole? She said she doesn't want to see you, so leave, and don't ever show your face around here again. You're not welcome anymore, not with any of us." Miroku shuddered ad turned back to Sango, "Sango, I can't leave! If I do, I won't know what to do with myself. I need you! I love you! during the time I was gone, my heart ached to see you again, and to be with you again! I can't go on if you don't forgive me. Please Sango... please..." Sango wiped her eyes and sobbed, "Go away!" She ran into the forest, sobbing as she went.

Miroku turned away and walked with slow steps out of the camp. When he was out of sight, Kagome sighed, "Oh my God. I'm so glad that's over." She shook her head and tried to get that scene out of her mind as she read a passage from her history book. Inu Yasha waited a moment before following Miroku into the forest.

He caught up to him and called out, "Miroku!" Miroku simply stopped walking. He didn't turn around. He said in a croaky voice, "What do you want, Inu Yasha?" Inu Yasha said, "Whatever you did, you were still my friend once. I guess you could say I still care about what happens to you, sort of. Just... take care of yourself. Don't do anything stupid that's gonna kill you." Miroku chuckled halfheartedly, "Thanks Inu Yasha. Goodbye." He continued walking, slowly. Inu Yasha sighed and went back to camp. Sure, Miroku was a sleazeball who didn't deserve much for what he did, but he was still his friend once.

Inu Yasha went back to the camp and saw Kagome, Shippo, and Kilala around the building fire. Kilala looked apprehensively into the dark forest. Inu Yasha said, "I'm going to find Sango. C'mon Kilala." Kilala sprang up quickly and stood by Inu Yasha. Kagome said, "Okay, but be back soon. I'm going to go to bed now." Inu Yasha nodded and walked into the forest, followed closely by Kilala.

He didn't have to walk much, since Sango didn't go far herself. She sat at the base of a tree, hugging her knees close to heself. Kilala leapt onto Sango's shoulder and mewed, rubbing her head on Sango's cheek. Sango looked up to see Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha said, "You wanna head back to camp?" Sango shook her head, "Not right now. I'm still a little shook up by what happened." Inu Yasha leaned against a tree opposite Sango, crossing his arms, "You really don't want to see him again? Ever?" Sango turned her head away, "Not really. After what he did, I don't know if I can face him again anyway. I mean, he broke my heart. I thought I loved him, but I guess now I never will." Inu Yasha sighed, "Well, now he realized he loves you. But he should have known better than to even try to get you back after what he'd done." Sango said, "Yeah. He should have never shown his face around us again." Inu Yasha asked, "So, are you going to be okay, or are you just going to get all sad?" Sango smiled, "Did I get all sad before? I think I've pretty much gotten over him already. So, it doesn't really matter anymore. I'll keep traveling with you, Kagome, and Shippo, and I'll help find the shard and defeat Naraku. And after that... I'll figure that out when the time comes." Inu Yasha smirked, "Good. Now c'mon, Kagome's going to flip out if we're not back soon."

Epilouge:

Miroku returned to Kaede's village about a month after being rejected by Sango. He ended up having a child with Kazumi. Afterwards, he continued a journey on his own to find Naraku. During his travels, he never flirted nor bedded with another woman. After some time, Naraku had been defeated, and the Wind Tunnel on his hand had closed up. He decided to dedicate the rest of his life to his religion, which he had badly abused when he was still a teenager.

Sango and the others also continued on their own journey. After collecting a large amount of the Shikon Jewel, they faced Naraku, along with Kouga and his wolf-demon tribe, and were victorious. Kagome decided to use the Sacred Jewel to wish back everyone who was killed by Naraku or his minions. Kikyou came back to life, but died quickly afterwards since she had died once before. Most of Kouga's comrades had come back to life as well, restoring the population of the tribe. Sango was happiest when she had found her brother safe and back to normal, along with the rest of her village. She returned to the village, but often came to visit Kaede's village, since Inu Yasha was training Shippo, and Kagome was raising him, occasionally stopping by her time to see her own family.
