InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Broken ❯ 1 ( Chapter 1 )

Goshinki. That bastard tore straight through the human's village. Inuyasha could still make out the stench of dead animals and humans blood on the creature‘s claws.
If there were any defenders of the village before, they were all dead now. Bastard! Those men would have been powerless against his strength. He was fast, too fast for the fleeing mothers and their children.
But why? Inuyasha thought to himself. Was this Naraku's idea to lure me out? Or is this bastard nothing more than a murdering brute.
“Inuyasha. You were thinking, ‘This bastard is nothing but a murdering brute', weren't you?” Goshinki said, once again displaying his special talent.
Damn his mind-reading! This demon was nothing but a mindless monster to Inuyasha. A bloodthirsty fiend who revelled in death and carnage. Only the worst of demons carried such traits, demons that Inuyasha had spent his lifetime battling.
The beast made a deep gurgling sound. If it wasn’t so menacing and deep, he could have sworn it was laughing at him. “Surely even half demon must understand the pleasure of devouring humans,” he growled at Inuyasha, licking his lips at the very idea.
“Shut up!” Inuyasha screamed.
How Inuyasha hated demons like him. The demons that used to mocking him and his mixed blood. He vowed long ago to prove them wrong, that he’d show them.
Gripping the Tetsusaiga tighter, he began scanning for the colliding youki. He started to make out Goshinki’s tainted youki, a dark swirl of energy surrounding his hulking foe. I’ll show you what a half-demon is capable of!
“Kaze no K--
Too fast, he must have saw it coming! In a burst of speed too fast for Inuyasha to follow, Goshinki closed the distance between them by mere feet. Only one chance left at taking him out now. He took the spare second Goshinki left him, and swung Tetsusaiga straight into his stinking gullet.

It wasn’t until a few days later, that he began to remember just what had happened in that battle. The others wouldn’t tell him, and he couldn’t figure out why. So he spent the next few nights alone, trying to figure out what really happened.
And then four days later, it all came back to him. Sitting high atop his chosen tree for the night, lost in his thoughts, he remembered.
That night Tetsusaiga broke, it awoke something in him. He couldn’t quite puzzle out how -then again, Kagome’s lunchbox was large enough a puzzle for his mind- or why it happened, but he definitely felt it. For just a brief time, he felt just like what being a demon was like. He felt the surge of power, his fear sinking away. Looking down at his hands, he could almost still imagine wielding the power he held that night. But there was something else, something he felt wasn‘t supposed to be there.
He thought demons like Goshinki were nothing but an off-shot of true demon hood, ones that claimed the rights and declared their honorary status. But they didn't deserve it. He thought those brutes were so pathetic that they had to take pleasure out of taking the lives of weaker beings. Those were not the demons he was aspired to become.
He thought demons weren’t just stronger, but were whole. Complete. A fully realised being, in total control of their lives. Like his brother.
That thought brought a faint laugh out of him, thinking for a second that he actually wanted to be more like Sesshoumaru.
But it wasn't like the cold calculating demeanour of his older brother. Instead…
Instead, it turned him into exactly what he hated. What had chased him through the woods when he was only a child, yelling “half-demon, half-demon!” lusting for his blood on their weapons. They felt joy. Not sustenance, not a feeling of completeness. They lusted for blood, any blood they could squeeze out of others.
He felt back then that he was better than those demons, and would one day become stronger as well. But only if he became a full-demon.
Now he knew how it felt, to have the blood of a full-demon running through his veins.
When Tetsusaiga broke that night, so too did part of his dream.
