InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Brown-Eyed Girl, Golden-Eyed Boy ❯ One-Shot
Brown-Eyed Girl
Inu-Yasha stared into the sky and breathed wistfully, "Kagome…". He and Kagome had had a terrible fight. He knew he'd been wrong but he couldn't bring himself to apologize. If she knew why he'd done what he'd done she'd be angry. Or she'd laugh. He knew he couldn't stand her being even angrier than she already was but it would be torture to hear her laugh at him. His thoughts drifted to contented afternoons with Kagome…
Hey where did we go, days when the rains came?
Down in the hollow, playing a new game,
Laughing and a-runnin', hey hey, skippin' and a-jumpin',
In the misty morning fog with our hearts a-thumpin',
And you, my brown-eyed girl,
You, my brown-eyed girl…
Rolling over, Inu-Yasha ran his hand over the ground, wishing Kagome were lying there beside him. He missed her scent, the smell of her hair, her soft delicate skin, her deep, brown eyes…
Whatever happened, to Tuesday and so slow?
Going down the old well with your transistor radio…
Standing in the sunshine laughing, hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and a-sliding all along the waterfall,
With you, my brown-eyed girl,
You, my brown-eyed girl…
He wondered if she was thinking about him; thinking about their time together.
Do you remember when, we used to sing?
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da, la te da…
He felt so lonely and missed the feel of her warm body in his arms. He wished he'd apologized when he'd had the chance. A tear slipped down his cheek from his golden eye. He'd once again driven her away with his jealousy of Koga. But he couldn't apologize… If he did, he'd have to tell her. He was jealous for her because his love for her had grown so strong and unbearable that he knew his now fragile heart would shatter if she abandoned him. He prayed silently for guidance and strength.
So hard to find my way, now that I'm all on my own.
I saw you just the other day, my, how you have grown.
Cast my memory back there, Lord, sometimes I'm overcome thinkin' bout,
Laughin' and a-runnin', hey hey, behind the Sacred Tree,
With you, my brown-eyed girl,
You, my brown-eyed girl…
"Inu-Yasha?" Kagome's enquiring voice flowed into Inu-Yasha's sorrowful thoughts. He turned quickly toward her and his golden eyes shone warmly at the sight of her beautiful face.
"Kagome!" he exclaimed softly, "I'm so sorry, I know I was wrong. I can't help being jealous. I- I love you so much."
Kagome was slightly taken aback at Inu-Yasha's confession but almost immediately looked into the golden orbs and told him how she felt. "Inu-Yasha, I love you, too."
Inu-Yasha embraced Kagome, burying his face in her shoulder and breathing in her scent. Kagome took refuge in the strong arms of Inu-Yasha and moved closer to him. Inu-Yasha kissed Kagome softly on her cheek and asked her:
Do you remember when, we used to sing?
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da, la te da…
Kagome melted back into Inu-Yasha's arms and the two remained as one for as long as life would allow…
