Bubble Fun

 

In retrospect, Kagome decided that giving the candy to Shippo was a bad idea.

 

“What's this, Kagome?” he'd asked when she handed him the bright pink wrapper.

 

“It's a pack of bubble gum.”

 

“Bubba wha?”

 

“Here, I'll teach you how to do something neat. Watch this.” Kagome took a piece of gum and popped it into her mouth. After chewing for a bit, she blew and produced a pink bubble almost as big as her head.

 

Shippo's eyes lit up. “Wow! Let me try!” he cried, opening up the gum.

 

Inuyasha, perched above them on a tree branch, watched with disdain. “Feh,” he muttered. “You'll never be able to do it.”

 

“Oh yeah? I'll show you!” Chewing the gum furiously, Shippo took a deep breath and blew—so hard that the gum shot out of his mouth.

 

“Pff,” Inuyasha laughed. “Told ya you couldn't do it.”

 

Kagome frowned. “Don't pick on him, Inuyasha.” She put a reassuring hand on Shippo's shoulder. “All you need is practice, Shippo,” she said with a smile. “You'll get the hang of it!”

 

Now, staring at the pink, gooey mess covering Inuyasha's face, Kagome sighed. “What happened?”

 

Inuyasha grumbled. “He got the hang of it.”
