By The River Inu I Sat Down and WeptDisclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, Kagome, or any other character related to the Inu-universe, they belong to Rumiko Takahashi.Hi minna-chan! Ok, first of all I'd like to introduce myself. I've been lurking around for a looong time but I decided that I needed to sign in to do two things: to write this fic and to compliment a couple of authors that have wonderful stories. Maybe you haven't noticed it yet, but my english is NOT 100% perfect. (hell, it's not even 80% good!) That is because english is not my first language, so my apologies if sometimes I don't make sense! (I will gladly accept an offer from anyone to be my beta writer!)Now on with this story. For those who didn't catch the title reference, I took it from Paulo Coelho's "By the River Piedra I sat Down and Wept" (wonderful book, btw). I decided to write this story because stuff have been happening in my life and I felt the need of putting my feelings somewhere, therefore I decided to write about this. The terminal disease that Kagome has is cancer. A type of cancer that unfortunately has claimed the lives of many, MANY people. I hope I don't offend anyone with ANYTHING I'll write about, I really hope I won't . This theme is a very delicate one, and I know a lot about it(my grandfather and all my great-grandparents died of cancer, along with a couple of my uncles/aunts and just recently, my dear cousin. My grandma is dealing with it right now, along with 2 of my aunts, and my sister won the fight already, thanks God!). So as you can see I've dealt a LOT with it. Needless to say, I'll try to stay the more concise with the theme I can, and I hope you like my story and make you think about it. And please remember again, I don't want to offend anyone, what I write about are my feelings about it and what I've been through till now. I just want to educate people about it, and to make people realize that while sometimes something that can appear hopeless can actually be solved, there are other times when it can't be solved, but then is when you have to be as strong as you can. "Sometimes when you lose, you win, and other times when you win, you lose". On with the story!---------------By the River Inu I sat Down and Wept<<present day, in the Feudal Era>>Kagome climbed out of the well. Her face was expressionless. Blank. She sighed, bent down, and with great effort she grabbed her yellow back-pack, put it on, and started to walk into the forest. She walked and walked. "What am I going to tell the others? What am I....." was the only thing she had in her mind. Her lips were tightly closed, although you could see her lower lip trembling a little. She couldn't cry anymore, she couldn't even shed a tear. Not anymore. It seemed as if she had cried all the tears she has had inside of her. Hell, she definitely didn't want to cry anymore. "Crying never solves anything" her grandpa once told her. And it wasn't going to solve this either. Before she realized it, she was standing in front of the "River Inu", a river that surrounded the southern part of the Inuyasha forest. She looked at the river with its crystalline waters, and then at the sunset. The majestical orange sun, surrounded by yellow, orange and red skies, posing on the southern skies that were darkening little by little the further up she looked, and yet it seemed as if it was melting in the farther part of the river, into a pool of gold . "What a gorgeous sunset" thought Kagome. Suddenly, a single thought crossed her mind. Her legs grew weak in a matter of seconds, and she fell to the ground on her knees. And there, next to the River Inu, Kagome sat down and wept.<< Almost a week before, in the Feudal Era>>Inuyasha, Kagome and the gang were off in search of some jewel shards. It was a normal day in the Feudal Era, with a gorgeous blue sky and green trees everywhere. Inuyasha was carrying Kagome on her back, as he always did. As he always loved to do. Kagome was very happy. Everything was going great in her life: they were finding new shards everywhere, she was getting good grades at school (whenever Inuyasha "allowed" her to return back to her time to take exams, that is) and her relationship with Inuyasha was getting better every day. Kagome rested her head against Inuyasha's back. Oh how much she loved being like this...so close to her favorite (but thick-headed) hanyou. She lifted her head up and she tried to look over Inuyasha's shoulder, into his face. He was looking forward, with a serious expression in his face. Such a bad boy. Kagome snickered " He's so cute when he's serious! Almost like an angry puppy". Inuyasha heard her snicker "I wonder what this wench is laughing about now! Always so bubbly and stuff..... I wish I could tell her how much I love those giggles of her". A little grin appeared on Inuyasha's face. Yes, the world was a happy place.Kagome released a little her hold on Inuyasha's shoulders in order to bend herself backwards and breathe in some of the wonderful pure air of the Feudal Era. The sun made her skin glow, while the gentle breeze made her hair fly around, making Kagome look like an angel. You know the feeling you get when you are sitting outside in a park, and the weather is gorgeous, and you just sigh, close your eyes, throw your head back so you can feel the sun warming your skin, and think what a wonderful life this is? This was Kagome's moment.A sudden pain in her head that lasted no more than 3 seconds made Kagome open her eyes. She had never felt this kind of pain before, and yet she has been feeling it for the last couple of weeks. She didn't want to make her friends worry about her, after all, she thought, it must be happening because she needed to start wearing glasses. The pain she felt was indescribable. It started on the middle of her head, no, inside her head, and it shoot to the front of her head, in a flash that lasted 2- 3 seconds. She felt like her brain was going to explode. Immediately after she felt the pain and opened her eyes, her whole body tensed for a second. It had to be a second, because she didn't want Inuyasha to think anything bad had happened to her. Yes, she definitely needed to go get her eyes examined. Especially since these little pain attacks had been recurring more and more often in the last two weeks. "I'm going to look so bad in glasses! I bet Inuyasha is going to be the first one to make fun of me!" thought Kagome. "Although if I showed him the glasses and then he put them on, he would probably freak out! Of course, the vision of a hanyou is perfect, compared to the vision of a human! Ooo I'd pay to see his face haha!" "There she goes giggling again" thought our favorite hanyou, with a grin still in his face. "I wonder if she..." Inuyasha's trail of thought was cut-off with what felt like Kagome releasing her grip from her shoulders and falling behind him. "What the fuck!?! WHAT HAPPENED!??!" was all he could scream. He was still holding Kagome by her legs, but now her body was unceremoniously falling to the ground. Inuyasha, with his demon speed, turned around just in time to put his hand underneath of Kagome's head, stopping it in time before it went smashing into the ground. He had landed next to Kagome and when he opened his eyes he saw her face. Her eyes were closed, her face expression blank. Kirara had stopped as soon as she/it heard Inuyasha screaming, and now Sango, Miroku and Shippo were getting off of Kirara and running towards Inuyasha and Kagome's direction. Inuyasha delicately took his hand from under Kagome's head, and proceeded to scan over her body, to see if there was a wound or something like that. He was going to kill whoever dared to touch Kagome. "WHO THE FUCK DID THIS?!" screamed Inuyasha, growling and looking around to see where the attack came from. Sango ran to her friend and kneeled next to her, grabbing her by her shoulders and shaking her a little, in an attempt to wake her up. "Kagome-chan....Kagome-chan, are you ok?" Miroku tightened his grip around his staff , and looked around trying to sense a demonic aura. Shippo was next to Kagome's feet, looking at her, and then at Inuyasha, with tears in his eyes. Inuyasha could feel his blood boiling. Whoever dared to hurt Kagome was hiding like a big wuss, he couldn't even smell the attacker. "Miroku, take care of Kagome!" screamed Inuyasha before he darted in an unknown direction, in hot pursue of say unknown attacker. Miroku took a couple of sutras out of his gi and got into a combat pose, while Sango was desperately trying to wake Kagome up, without hurting her. Then Kagome slowly opened her eyes. Sango looked at her eyes that were slowly, but surely, opening and couldn't hold a smile....a smile that quickly disappeared and turned into a gasp when she saw what was inside of Kagome's eyes. ---------This is it for now people! Reviews please. Do you love it? Hate it? Hopefully you don't , and again, I hope no one gets offended. I'm just a little sad and I find that writing is very therapeutic. I write fics on very, VERY rare occasions, and the couple of fics I've written and published (long, LOOONG time ago, when SASSE still existed) were, gratefully, loved by many people. Anyways, this one goes for my little sister, who battled cancer and kicked its ass when she was only 9 years old! What a trooper! I love you sis!Oh and please, if there's someone out there that has extra time and would like to be my beta writer (or is it reader? I can't remember!) , please just ask me! My english sucks (especially at this time of the day, after I've worked for 10 hours straight-no break- I start forgetting how to speak even on my mother language haha!). See ya!
