InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Calling Your Name ❯ Wherever You Are ( Chapter 3 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Disclaimer: Hanyous and Youkai were never my invention to start with, so sad, but true. I don't own Inu-tachi, Celine Dion (goddess of song, in my humble opinion), or “Heart Will Go On”

Wherever You Are

~Jasmine Fields~

//Every night in my dreams//
//I see you I feel you//

Her heart lurched and lungs heaved, once more, from her chest as she cleaved to the monk's sleeve, taking his solid strength for her own. Tears drenched his collared robes and he held her tightly against his chest for her benefit alone - the purest act of chaste love he could maintain as both a monk and a man. It was his duty and privilege to comfort the tremors rolling off the shaking woman in his arms.

//That is how I know you go on//

The heavens would mourn…the way she would mourn.

Grey, dank, dark, and still - clouds overcast and lightning in the not-so-far distance flashed while thunder bellowed obnoxiously its patterned beat overhead.

//Far across the distance and spaces between us//
//You have come to show you go on//

There was little daylight remaining and soon, dusk's result would overshadow them all. It was his newest responsibility to ensure her health and welfare.

//Near…far…where ever you are//
//I believe that the heart does go on//
//Once more you open the door//

The pounding of his heart against hers brought a steadily paced rhythm that neither heard with their ears…it was a complete moment of truth - the sustenance within their hearts binding them together. The fated day that came to honor an entirely too young soul and unsung hero of the war that finally was over…a war that could hope to be soon forgotten with the passage of hours turning to days, and days to years - and years to forever and infinity…

//And you're here in my heart//
//And my heart will go on and on//

He would not be dead to their memories. It was determined and finalized approved with forgiveness and prayers lifted to the heavens on his behalf. It fit him… and monk and slayer would do all possible to make his passing comfortable into the afterlife.

They would memorialize him for the entirely of the rest of their sparse years.

//Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime//
//And it won't let go `til we're gone//

She was strongest this way, he concluded - weeping and wrenching her heart fully out on his shoulder, yet she was not aware of the gesture and beyond phasing back to the land of the living from the further reaches of her consciousness. He reveled in the knowledge of her love for her little brother and hoped he had an opportunity for reincarnation.

//Love was when I loved you//
//One true time I hold you//

She had not known, but she was anchored while the treacherous winds of her soul spun out of control and she sought refuge at sea. She showed her strength the most with the coming of torrent's blissful mockery and amusement at her loss bade to make a mockery of her misery.

//And my life will always go on//

At least she was able to say her good-byes. So few ever did in this day and age.

He vowed to be her rock. He would have endless amounts of time to mourn later. Right now, however, he would lend his ears and heart to his companion and future wife.

//Near…far…where ever you are//
//I believe that the heart does go on//
//Once more you open the door//

“Kohaku.”

//And you're here in my heart//
//And my heart will go on and on//

Her heart suffered greatly, but she realized, holding a small bouquet of hand-picked poppies, that he had suffered even more so.

//You're here there's nothing I fear//
// I know that my heart will go on//

“You were brave…and I will never forget you. Rest in peace, brother.”

//We'll stay forever this way//
//You are safe in my heart//
//And my heart will go on and on…..//
