Kagome moved slowly around the main room of the club. The dance music blared, and the young men stared at her appreciatively, but she paid them no attention. She was trying to put off facing her friends and dealing with their disappointment. Until she dealt with them she could not relax and try and enjoy herself, but at the same time she dreaded the prospect of finding them. Also, despite her conviction that she was right to not bring him, she missed InuYasha.

 

Then they found her.

 

“Hi Kagome!” said Eri.

 

“Where's your boyfriend?” said Ayumi.

“He couldn't come,” she replied.

 

“Oh, no!” Said Yuka.

 

The three girls faces fell, and they tried to ply her with questions, but she ignored them.

 

“Let's get something to drink,” Kagome said, dragging the three of them with her to the bar.

 

When they had got their drinks their attention was drawn by the people around them who were whispering wonderingly and looking at the clubs entrance.

 

“Wow, who's that?” they heard someone say.

 

“I don't know, but he sure is sexy!” was the reply.

 

Kagome turned to see who they were looking at. Oh…my…god. Her face paled and she lost her grip on her drink and it landed at her feet spilling. Her friends were now also gaping and staring, but she did not notice them. “Aren't you going to introduce us?” said Eri, looking at him in awe.

“You aren't pissed that I showed up.”

 

“No, do I look mad?' she said, shaking her head, and laughed. “I'm sorry that we fought.”

 

Then suddenly she sobered up and looked at him seriously.

 

“You're wearing my dad's clothes and his cologne,” she said wonderingly, “you're coming here was my moms idea, wasn't it.”

 

“Yeah, it was.” He replied.

 

“I have to give my mom credit where it's due,” she said, putting her arms around him and leaning into him with a sigh. “She was right to send you. I was angry and thought by coming here I could distract myself from it. But the truth is I really missed you, and would've had a lousy time if you weren't here.”

 

“You pissed me off when you said I had no self control,” he said, “although you were probably right. I know there is none of my kind in your time, I'll try and keep a low profile on my true nature.”

 

“Thanks.” She said.

 

“But I really hope we don't run into that asshole, Hojo.” He growled.

 

The door opened on the club again and Kagome told him she had to go to the ladies room and to wait for her by the bar. Looking in the mirror she groaned. She was a mess; smeared mascara and lipstick, hair all tangled. She turned on the water at the sink and reached into her purse for a comb and lipstick. When she looked up, she flushed. Eri, Yuka and Ayumi had come in and were approaching her.
