Catch Me

`Catch me daddy,' a tiny dark haired girl squealed as she jumped off the swing into her fathers' protective embrace. She giggled as he swung her around before kissing her cheek lovingly and placing her on his shoulders.

`I'll always catch you Kagome,' he told her smiling.

`Promise?' she asked looking down at the top of his head.

`Promise,' He said looking up at her.

Kagome sighed as she played the melody again. She flipped her jet black hair over her shoulder and tightened the g string of her black fender. She glanced up when the door creaked open to reveal her mother.

“You're going to work yourself to death worrying over that guitar someday,” She scolded gently.

Kagome just snorted and continued to play the melody. “I have an audition today so I need my guitar to be tuned,” She told her mother without looking up.

“Kagome, why did you even bother going to Harvard if you don't plan to use your degree,” Her mother asked.

“Because it's what you wanted,” She said finally looking at hr mother.

Kim Higurashi sighed defeated and left her daughters room. Kagome held back her tears as she packed her guitar in its case and gathered her pick case.

“I'll be back before eleven mama,” she called as she passed the kitchen going to the front door.

Kim stared sadly out of the kitchen window as her only child got into her car and drove off. She closed her eyes as a lone tear dropped onto the plate she was washing.
