Stealthfully lurking in the shadows, three sets of eyes stared at the hanyou and miko. They watched as the two just stood their, staring at one another, they could feel the tension and anticipation rising in the air. Their presence only made known to the couple by the cracking of slapped flesh.

"By the gods! You damn lecherous monk! Can't you go ten minutes without touching me!" Sango screamed as she jumped away from the monk. Miroku's face brightened with a smile that could only rival the hand print that was growing redder and redder.

"Sango, I could not help myself. The mood. It moved me to get closer to you." Miroku explained. Sango growled and clinched her fists as she glared darts at the gropefull monk.

"Do you guys mind explaining what you're doing out here?" Kagome asked, her arms crossed across her chest, her facing making her fury no secret to her friends.

"I, ah, we...well" Sango and Miroku stuttered in almost unison. Shippo hopped up on Miroku's shoulder and smiled at Kagome.

"I suggested that we follow you to see if Inuyasha would need any help after all the subduing spells you might cursed for his rude behavior. But I guess that won't be necessary!" The kitsune said proudly.

"Ah, yes we will be going now." Sango said as she pushed Miroku and Shippo back to the camp.

Kagome turned back to Inuyasha, "Can you believe those guys! I swear there is no way to get any privacy out here...I'm sorry Inuyasha...Inuyasha? Are you okay?" Kagome asked, studying the hanyou's shocked state.

"They...they heard everything didn't they?" He muttered over and over again. "Probably...do you have a problem with other people knowing how you feel about me?" Kagome scoffed her anger rising again.

"NO! I...well...um" Inuyasha looked around frantically as if he were about to make an escape from some death-rage demon.

"Inuyasha! Answer me! You really did just say that to get me to calm down, you obviously didn't mean it." Kagome turned her back to Inuyasha and crossed her arms again. "If you did mean it you wouldn't care who knows!"

"Kagome...I..." Inuyasha tried to reach for the words to explain everything but his mind was blank. His ears twitched as a familiar whistling caught his senses, 'Kikyo's Soul Collector's' he thought the noise sounded again. "Kagome I have to go right now, okay." He said before leaping off in the direction of the sound. He traveled away from Kagome as fast as he could to prevent her subduing from holding him back.

"INUYASHA!" Kagome screamed.

"My Lord Sesshomaru!" The toad-like imp called out. "My Lord Sesshomaru! Please come out, your most loyal servant still waits here for you with the wretched human girl!" Exasperated, Jakken plopped down to the ground letting out a small, "hmph" sound. A girl no older than ten appeared by the retainer's side smiling brightly.

"Don't worry, he'll be back. He always come back!" Rin said in a sing- song tone.

"That's what you think! For all we know he's left us for ever, and if he has I know it's your fault you filthy human! You are always bugging him with your flowers and drawings. You just don't know that you are such a pain!" Jakken scoffed, waving his fists at the child.

"You're wrong you stupid toad! He'll be back! And when he comes back he's going to be so mad at you for not having faith!" Rin cried out as she leapt to her feet and ran towards the grazing dragon.

"Don't you run off too, you crazy human! If Lord Sesshomaru does return I don't want him punishing me for your antics!" Jakken said waving the Staff of Head around. However, his tiny amphibian body slammed to the ground after a small hard object hit his head.

"Jakken stop your incessant screaming!" Lord Sesshomaru said as he emerged from the forest.

"Lord Sesshomaru you have returned to us!" the servant said joyfully as he rose to his feet, leaning on his staff and rubbing his bruised skull. "Of course he has returned silly Jakken, I told you he would!" Rin said with an 'I told you so' tone. The child ran over to her Lord, smiling as always at her guardian.

"Jakken you could take a lesson from this human." Sesshomaru said as he walked past the girl and toad.

"What!!! Take a lesson from that lowly creature? What are you talking about, milord?" The toad cried out, shaking slightly.

"The child knew I would return, I have given her no reason to ever think otherwise, like I have given you no reason to doubt me."

"Yes, Lord. It's just that you were gone for so long after the battle with Inuyasha. You took that miko he travels with and ran, did you kill her lord?"

"No." Sesshomaru said as he lifted Rin and placed her on the dragon's back. Rin continued to smile at her Lord.

"Oh." was the toad's only reply. Dropping the subject Jakken moved on, "Are we returning to the Western Lands then?"

"Jakken, you are so stupid! We're not going home yet, we have to wait for Kagome!" the child said, clapping her hands together. Jakken stopped dead in his tracks and his mouth dropped.

"Will...will, another human be joining us lord?" Jakken stuttered.

"Jakken, perhaps I should replace you and give your position to Rin. She knows my mind and does not question my actions."

"Milord? That thing is only a child." He said pointing at Rin. "I have served you for many years and aided you in many battles. That thing, wouldn't be able to give you any background on any of your opponents!"

"Yes, Jakken you are correct."

"Then I may stay as your retainer milord?"

"Yes, Rin is only a child and has much to learn about the ways of youkai. You may stay and teach her."

"WHAT!" Jakken screamed as he began to breath rapidly.

"Relax silly Jakken!" Rin said playfully. "Lord Sesshomaru is teasing!"

"Yes, for once you might be right stupid human. You are teasing me aren't you Lord?" Jakken asked, staring up at Lord Sesshomaru for some sort of acknowledgment. However, he went unnoticed.

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow as a familiar voice sounded across the forest, "Inuyasha!" the wind cared her cry to the Western Lord. "I must leave you once again. Rin you will stay here." He said as he walked away. Rin jumped down off the dragon and waved good-bye not moving until his back was out of view.

"This is just wonderful!" The toad cried as he sat back down on the ground.

"But it is wonderful, Jakken." The girl said happily as she sat down with the toad.

"What are you going on about now?"

"Lord Sesshomaru is going to get Kagome, it's time now."

"Time for what?"

"Time to take her home with us."

"And how exactly do you know this you stupid human?" Jakken asked angrily. Rin only replied with a smile as she leaped up and began to skip around. "Answer me, you silly human child!"

Rin stopped and looked dead into the imp's eyes. "I saw it." she said in the most serious tone he had ever heard her use.
