Chapter 1: To The End

 

 

 

 

 

Kikyo had finally was off on vacation for one of her jobs that surrounded with photography traveling over the seas and snapping pictures of beautiful, and famous places and simply writing about the places she saw and how much she had adored the job over the years. She had finally settled down in a little villa off the coast of Hawaii, laying against the leather computer chair and getting a bird's eye view of the blue ocean crashing against the white sand and seeing the palm trees scattering throughout the beach side. Her hands had been strained from the boat side cruise she had taken, viewing the depths of the water and snapping beautiful pictures that were always placed on a post card, or on commercials. Personally, she had enjoyed her job, but she had been bummed out also because she was slowly losing touch with the real world and the people back home, including Inuyasha that she could never get off her mind.

 

She smiled typing out another report, with her old camera at the side of her glass desktop laying out framed pictures of things she missed and truly adored. She grasped on to the small frame that had silver and gold hearts embedded into it, and surreal picture of Inuyasha and her laying at the beach at night staring off into the stars, and her laughter captured in the shot. She had many of the beach night scene, but she also remembered how she deathly hated water because when she was younger she had almost drowned, and had to be rushed to the hospital. Inuyasha delightfully taught her how to swim, and it had been that night she was terrorized to even place her foot in water let alone be near it.

` This was a wonderful idea to come here. I never thought lying on a beach at night would be so….'

 

Kikyo drifted off trying to find the words to describe it, while she laid quietly on her back dressed in nothing but a red tank top and ripped blue shorts to go with it. She felt the moist sand against her back, seeing Inuyasha out of the corner of her eye crashing into the waves that rolled against the coast, laughing seeing his black tamed hair flat against his face. He just crashed lifeless into another wave screaming at how cold the water was, as he caught Kikyo off guard.

 

“ Beautiful?”

 

He whispered softly dripping with the cool water feeling himself shivering, when the cool night air blew against him. He stood watching her quiet and softly, and Kikyo didn't mind in the least. Before it would have been something that bothered her, but now she found it relaxing and peaceful and he done it so much that she barely noticed anymore. Kikyo placed her book down to her lap, and turned staring into his chocolate hues and put on a delicate smile.

 

“ Beautiful? I'd have to say so. Inuyasha thanks so much for this wonderful night. I mean I never expected you to be such a romantic person.”

 

Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at her from the what she said, as he kicked off the angst looking face and it had soften when he caught a glimpse of her staring off into the dark sky lit up by the millions of stars. He just chuckled, as the crash of the waves became stronger.

 

“ Hey! Come on, I do it when it really counts! Besides I just thought this idea would be nice. I mean it's calmer out when it's night and besides there's no one at this beach when it's a night, well except you and me. And, I prefer it that way.”

 

He softly whispered into her ear, as he removed his soaked black bangs away from his face and surrounded her and threw her to the ground into the moist sand, hearing Kikyo's famous laugh knowing the sand it's self was cold and she was freezing the moment he laid her down.

 

` Inuyasha come on! I'm freezing!”

 

She yelled in-between chuckles while her hands lightly dug into his shoulders hoping she wouldn't fall hard, but he had her held safely and securely. Her long, black ebony hair was now covered with grains of sand while Inuyasha smiled brightly and softly when he heard her rare but beautiful laughter. The chair flipped over, while now he hovered over her wearing only a bright red swim trunks and soaking wet while she felt every drop of water hit her body, and screamed out more with each minute. He kneeled over her, and placed his hands beside her head while he could feel her hands playfully pushing him away.

 

“ Inuyasha, your wet! Come on.. Please?”

 

She batted her eyelashes giving him the `puppy dog look' that had always suckered him in to almost everything; to her every dying desire, and every wish. He never enjoyed looking into her eyes when he saw them gleam delightful and grew bigger, with chants of sweet begging that made him fight with himself until he gave into her. He just shook his head, trying to look anywhere else except her gleaming brown eyes. He removed the black bangs that shielded her eyes, and softly tucked the uneven strains behind her ears.

 

“ Ha.. You really think that's going to work on me this time? Forget it!”

 

Swiftly, he grasped both of her arms that were spread out like an eagle and slowly moved them just above her head locking them in place, while he dove in slickly, as she felt his breath creep against her neck that sent even more shivers up her spine then ever. She began squirming underneath him, as he pinned her down pretty well amused by the game they were playing.

 

“ Ha, see? Now your mine.. all mine…”

Kikyo stared almost nervously into his gleaming star struck eyes, seeing the hint of hazel in his dark brown eyes. She saw his bare chest rising and falling quicker than ever, and felt more waves of his warm breath against her neck that gave her more of a rush feeling than anything else. Kikyo felt his muscles tense up holding her in place, while he slowly bent over and tried to dive for the neck to leave his mark while he kissed the sand instead of her.

 

“ Damnit Kikyo! Now I got damn sand in my mouth! Seriously, I'll admit your good and quick, but not that quick.”

 

He clearly wiped the grains of sand that touched his lips, and spat out the rest her practically swallowed and that lingered against the walls and the tip of his tongue. She nervously chuckled again, this time with a loud whine that was loud enough to pierce the ears and make them go numb. She felt his lips touch her neck, and felt a sharp nip at her that made her whine pretty loud that was made Inuyasha melt. It wasn't a hurtful whine, it was more a mix between enjoying it, and disliking it. She felt her arch back alittle from each teasing taste and nip he gave her. He softly placed himself against her, hearing her heart racing out of her chest as he caught her lips the moment she attempted to move away.

 

“ Told you I was good at this…”

 

He managed to let out between the smack of their lips, watching his eyes gleaming like she never saw in her life before. It was almost seemed scary how he smiled, and how his eyes narrowed as though he had more up his sleeve than this planned. She stretched out her arms and grasped a hold of both of his ears and softly massaged them with her index finger and her thumb that made him make a loud almost growling like sound, she adored to her but her hated to let out. He never liked her to get the best of him, but in the end of it all she always did.

 

“ Damn not the ears! Ever since I told you that was the most enjoyable spot on me you've always tried to go after them haven't you?”

 

Kikyo smiled brightly, massaging even more of his ears and gentle enough not to touch the gold hoop piercing that was in his ear; last thing she wanted to do was upset him, and ruin a beautiful moment between the two. She relaxed even more, feeling his breath still against her while she could see trying to fight off the feeling that was teasing him, and that was making him feel so good.

 

“ Yep. Ever since you told me that in high school, it was something I couldn't resist to do. I didn't think that this would make you act like this. I know you try not to enjoy it, but obviously you do Inuyasha if your biting down on your lips and grasping my clothing..”

 

Inuyasha blushed alittle, while he managed to flip her around until she was on top of him and he was now pinned against the moist, wet dark beach. He couldn't resist, he let out a sound he possibly thought couldn't come out of him but it had, and Kikyo's eyes lit up widely when she had heard it. Inuyasha let out what sounded like a growl, and out of exhaustion threw himself back into the moist sand, with Kikyo softly nuzzled her head between his shoulder and neck.

 

“ Inuyasha you know what I find funny, besides that noise you made?”

 

Inuyasha narrowed his eyes abit, knowing he didn't like the sound that came from him it sounded more like two people being more than friends. Inuyasha could never really retain an angered expression around her even if he wanted to. All his senses and emotions were swept way. He came a lot softer and gentler than he realized, and sometimes he almost felt weak and vulnerable when he had been around her. It was like all his walls he built around him fell down beneath her, and so did he. He wasn't really trusting of other people, but with Kikyo it was a whole different story. He became something no one thought he could be.

 

“ What's that?”

 

He asked curiously seeing her eyes lit up like the city that surrounded the whole beach. She noticed a few geese passing by flapping there wings heavily, and seeing only outlines of their bodies and wings in the air passing through and diving near the small park that was just blocks away from them.

 

Kikyo softly slid her fingers through his free hand, locking her fingers securely between his and still looking lost in the stars.

 

“ How we become so close. We were never like this at the start. We hated each other so much, and now look at us. We've become closer than we realized, let alone what other people thought. But….”

 

Inuyasha leaned over towards her in alarm, seeing her eyes almost ready to flow with tears that made him brush his hands closer to her, resting his hands around her shoulders and leaning in closer feeling the warmth of his body touching hers. He could tell whatever she was thinking and holding back was going to devastate him, and he knew it all too well. He knew if this was going to hurt her, than it would hurt him ten times harder. He softly kissed her cheek worriedly, feeling almost like a sap but he ignored that.

 

“ But what? Kikyo come on please tell me.. I mean you can tell me anything, you know that right?”

 

Kikyo softly gave him a sweet chase kiss on the lips, and pulled back when he caught the look of tears in her eyes.

 

“ I know Inuyasha just that… I'm going have to go back on another trip again for my job..”

 

Inuyasha laughed and didn't see the big deal in the whole thing. He knew she was very busy with her job, and she had to travel to many places taking pictures and to her, she almost considered it a cruise. She got to see sights she never saw before, and was able to see way was beyond Japan then being held down in her own town. Inuyasha knew he always got a free trip with her everywhere she went, it hadn't mattered to him. Ever time she left he'd come with in support, and to him it was a free trip seeing places he never thought existed before. He just kissed her neck again, while she shrugged it off.

 

“ And…?”

 

He said, while he tried to give her another piece of his affection but he could tell this wasn't the time.

 

“ And I'm going to have to travel to Hawaii, which is an island or something like that. I'm not exactly sure. But I'll be on that trip longer than ever before…”

 

“ How long are we talking about? Two months, four maybe….”

 

Kikyo sighed, and nudged away from his touch as though his touch had burned her.

 

“ No Inuyasha, I don't think you understand! It's eight months almost a year I'll be there! That's enough time to get my own little house down there if I wanted to!”

 

He smiled widely, holding her closer until her back touched his bare chest.

 

“ Well you know I always come with you on every trip, so what's your problem?”

 

Kikyo felt anger and rage rushing through her veins, feeling even madder when he didn't take her seriously enough. Without warning, her hand pushed him away harshly and it was basically a smack towards the ground. Inuyasha felt himself rub his cheek with one hand, backing away from Kikyo who had fire lit in her eyes, a look as though she deserved to make his life a living hell. Inuyasha knew she was never violent, and knew she never meant that but when she was he learned to back away from her.

 

“ Inuyasha that's the damn problem! Can't you see that?! Rules have changed for me, alright?! If I want to keep this job then I must obey every rule, even if it's unfair to us. My manager told me I haven't earned the rights to have someone else like you, to accompany me on my voyages, and for free for that matter. He said nobody else was allowed and therefore he had changed the rule. Under no circumstances are you allowed to come with me on my trips, even this trip to Hawaii. It would take years to get the consent back to have you on my trips again.”

 

Inuyasha sat back and snapped back with fear and anger, knowing he wasn't allowed to travel with the girl he adored everywhere she went because of some stupid strict rule, that was now reinforced and that basically would keep him away and apart , which now he understood why Kikyo was so fierce and so built with anger.

 

“ You've gotta be fucking kidding me! Not even this trip!? What a bastard Onigumo is. Can't you ask him, or try to make this damn fair to both of us?!”

 

Kikyo basically shook her head, and snapped even harder than the first time, as she threw her book to her side.

 

“ No Inuyasha, I can't! Your not the only one upset about this! I know he never cared before but these are his strict rules that I must follow if I want to keep this job, and everything I have! I'm sorry, but he told me Friday and to tell you this as well. So I'll barely get to see you anymore, and he's only allowed me to have a certain amount of days to see you, which is barely enough.”

 

Inuyasha just drove his fists into the sand, and bit on his lip hard enough to draw blood.

 

“ Damnit! What an asshole! I can't believe him! That's so damn unfair! You'd think he'd let us anyways because we'll barely get the chance to spend time with each other or see each other for that matter! What the fuck is he doing?! I knew he was always rude even since high school but damn I forgot all he's ever cared about was money, and throwing people around. I guess him being a manger suits his ass!”

 

Kikyo softly rose from the sandy beach, grasping the romantic novel she threw on the ground and sadly looked at Inuyasha when she saw the burning red mark that stood out on his tanned like face.

 

“ Inuyasha look I'm just as mad as you are! I can't quit my job it's the best one I've had in years and besides even if I did, I end up going back to flipping burgers again even a worse job than that. Half of the jobs I've had I'm not proud of Inuyasha. They were revolting and besides they barely paid anything. I'm not going back to that, if I do I'll never afford anything! Asshole of a boss or not Inuyasha, he's mine and I can't replace him but I know he could replace me if he wanted to. That's how it works with jobs. They are a bitch and they have unfair rules that are gonna affect someone more than the other.”

 

Kikyo stood sadly, placing on her flip-flops on and walking towards the direction of the tall white and blue looking apartment that looked very expensive and was surrounded with blue lights underneath and had the named encrusted that said, “ Helena Apartment.' Inuyasha saw that moment their fun was ruined, while he just slung the towel over his shoulder and walked directly into her footprints that covered the sand.

 

“ Well I guess my question of quitting your job is out of the question isn't it?”

 

Kikyo hadn't answered. She heard him clearly but didn't want to bother get strained and mad about this. She barely got a good enough notice to enjoy her time with him, and she would have to pack tonight in order to be ready for that long, trip down in Hawaii which would be the furthest she had ever gone. Inuyasha rushed over by her side, grasping her hand as much as she wanted to throw his away.

 

“ Look Kikyo I understand. I'm sorry, I just thought maybe there was someway out of it that's all. It's unfair to us I know. I'll barely get to see you. I mean you'd think he'd have a heart but I forgot he's just a bastard that has no consideration to anyone in this place. Eight months is too long, and to me that's going to be an eternity! Don't tell me your planning to end the relationship because of this, are you? Because if you are you can-”

 

Kikyo's grudge slowly went away, long enough to transform back into the kind hearted Kikyo he knew. She gently grasped on to his hand, and leaned it giving him a kiss on the cheek basically with the look ` I'd never do that to you' while they finally got off the beach, and now were right at the front of the hotel looking type apartment, that was too expensive for even Inuyasha's taste.

 

“ Inuyasha I'd never do that to us. I mean it's going to kill us I know but I'd never end it because of a simple job. I mean yes it's going to be hard, but I know for sure we'll call each other non-stop, and write each other letters. Besides I love you too much to let you go like that. We've went through enough to end it here, of course we have plans together in the future… don't we?”

 

Inuyasha smiled and took her off her feet, throwing her into his arms are her flip-flops were now holding on for dear life on her feet as they walked up to the small stairway getting closer towards the 5th floor and towards her room that had the name `Kikyo' written every small into the side of the apartment. Kikyo gleamed at the silver ring that had a small pink topaz that was shaped almost into a heart that she knew he spend a lot on. She knew Inuyasha barely had any money, and he lived in the worst side of town with a small beaten down red convertible and a small house that to her wasn't even considered one. The place he was working at was a bar, and that wasn't paying much at all. She almost felt bad for him, but mostly he was in good hands because he stayed with her practically all the time.

 

“ Of course we do! That's the plan isn't it?”

 

Kikyo softly nodded as she felt herself back on her feet, opening the sliding door and swiping a card that identified that this was her room, and that she was able to have access to get it. She watched it turn green, as they walked into a room with red and purple flower printed on the walls, a roomy area that had a big TV and a huge king sized bed, and pictures of him and her covering the one side of the whole dresser that Inuyasha smiled at each time he saw it.

 

“ It is the plan Inuyasha. I'm not going to let some job ruin it. Don't you worry. I promise we'll be together. Can you find me my suitcase while I grab the clothes I need?”

 

Inuyasha paused a moment heading for the walk in closest that had mostly suitcases and some dressy clothing he had never seen her wore before, since it was more business clothes than dating clothes. He grabbed the suitcase, and turned back at her as she placed a brush through her tangled hair.

 

“ Wait a minute! When are you actually leaving for the trip?!”

 

Kikyo sighed again, grabbing the ice tea from her fridge and slammed it with the push of her foot, and looked at him with a downer look.

 

“ Well in a week or so. I'm getting the stuff I really need to pack with me, and the rest I need will be shipped over. You can stay here for that time being. I doubt you want to be at home, and I just want to make this time count when I leave.”

 

Inuyasha threw the suitcase on the floor, and looked at Kikyo with a devilish look gleaming in his desiring eyes that almost scared Kikyo by this. She had never seemed him looked so determined, and looked so in control before. When he heard that they only had so much time until she was off for her eight month booked trip to Hawaii, he had something up his sleeve right then and there. He threw grasped her tightly, and gently threw her down on the bed while he hovered over her once again, with her in the look of shook.

 

“ Don't worry we'll make it count, I promise. Besides I'm gonna have to make it count if your leaving forever. Promise me Kikyo you'll visit me between those eight months. Because I know once that trip is done we'll get back to all this, and maybe someday we'll get what we deserve.”

 

Kikyo smiled just the thought of it, of them being together and even the chance of having kids. She wasn't big on the idea before, neither Inuyasha was but all this fire came out of him right then and there and she could tell he meant every single word that came off his lips.

 

“ Don't worry Inuyasha I promise I'll come see you, and stay for as long as I can. After Hawaii is done well, we'll get back to this I promise.”
