Chapter 2: First Day of Work

 

“Wake up Kagome! You don't want to be late on your first day, do you?” asked Sango, gently shaking the sleepy girl.

“Mhhmm…” was the only reply Kagome could give.

“I'm gonna prepare some coffee. Now get up!”

 

The black haired girl finally got out of bed and made her way to the kitchen. Sango was already sitting down, sipping on her mug.

 

“Well, good morning!”

“Hey, morning!”

“So how'd you sleep?”

“I slept pretty well.”

“Here's your coffee.”

“Thanks!”

 

The two girls took time to properly wake up and ate breakfast. After putting the dishes in the sink, they got dressed and made their way to the hotel. Sango and Kagome punched in their cards and made their way to the back of the office. The girls opened their lockers, taking out their maid uniforms and went to change in the bathrooms.

 

“Well, I'll see you later Kagome. If there is anything, come see me on the third floor. I usually work there.”

“Don't worry about me Sango, I think I'll manage properly. Maybe we could eat lunch together on our break?”

“Sure!”

“Okay then, later Sango!”

 

Kagome made her way to the elevator.

 

“Seventh floor please!” she asked politely.

 

The liftman seemed intriged by Kagome's presence.

 

“You're new, aren't you?” he asked.

“Y-yes…”

“My name is Miroku and as you can see, I'm the liftman.”

“I can see that.” Kagome commented, a little amused. “My name is Kagome.”

“Well, this is your floor. It was nice meeting you Kagome!”

“Thanks!”

 

Kagome walked out of the elevator and searched for room 405. When finding it, she gently knocked on the door.

 

“House keeping!” she said loudly, trying to feel confident.

“Yeah, come in!” yelled a muffled voice.

“Good morning Sir…”

“Koga.”

“I'm sorry, Sir Koga. I'm hear to clean up your room.”

“I sure hope so! What may be your name be my little kitten?”

“K-Kagome…”

“Well then my beautiful Kagome, make yourself at home and do as you please.”

“Thanks…”

 

Kagome felt incredibly insecure around Koga. The way he watched her the whole time as she cleaned and tidied up made her want to get out of there as quickly as possible.

 

Koga was sitting on his armchair and watched the maid do her work. He especially loved when she would bend down to reach for his dirty clothes and he could see a great view of her behind.

 

“What a delicious ass she has! And those bouncy breasts are definitely worth a squeeze. Why am I so attracted to her? All the other maid bitches here are ugly! But this one… This one! I'm gonna get in her pants…Or skirt for that matter.”

 

Kagome finished changing the bed sheets and cleaning the bathroom. As she was making her way to the door, a hand caught her arm.

 

“Where do you think you're going?” Koga asked, looking almost angry.

“I-I… I finished cleaning your room. I need to go to the others…”

“You really think you finished this room?”

“W-Well, I changed your sheets, made your bed, dusted your furniture and cleaned the bathroom. I will only be doing the floor tomorrow…”

“Oh really? That means… you'll be back?”

“Y-Yes, Sir Naraku assigned your room for me to clean. Until you leave, this room is under my responsibility.”

“Interesting… Well then, I'll see you tomorrow!”

“Yes… Have a good day Sir Koga.”

 

Kagome pulled out of Koga's grip and made her way to room 406. She hesitated to knock for a few seconds and then remembered that she had a task to do. She swallowed hard and knocked twice.

 

“House keeping!”

“Come in,” yelled another muffled voice.

“Hello. Sir Tounga?

“No, this is his son Sesshomaru.”

“Ah yes, Sir Sesshomaru, I'm here to clean up you room.”

“Do as you wish. I'm going out anyways. Don't forget to lock the door when you get out,” the man replied leaving the room.

 

Kagome looked around. There wasn't much to clean. A quick changing of sheets for the three master beds and a fair cleaning in the bathroom.

 

“I might as well get the bathroom over with... That's what usually takes longer.”

 

Kagome walked towards the bathroom. When entering the room, she heard that the shower was on.

 

“What a waste leaving the shower on while they are all out!”

 

The maid pulled the shower curtain to turn off the taps when she did not realize someone was actually cleaning himself.

 

“Hey! What's your problem?!” yelled the man, naked and wet.

“Oh my god! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I-I… I thought you... That you… I didn't know…” Kagome said stumbling on her own words.

 

She quickly turned around closing her eyes.

 

“Just shut up and hand me a towel idiot!” he angrily yelled.

 

Kagome quickly looked around and found one lying on the floor. As she bent down to pick it up, her pink underwear was noticeable. The silver haired man quickly looked away as he was furiously blushing. The young girl stretched her arm back for the man to take his towel. He quickly wrapped it around his waist and made Kagome stare at him.

 

“What do you want? Why are you in my bathroom?!”

“I… I was coming to clean. I-I didn't know you were in the shower. I'm sorry!”

“Isn't it enough to understand that if the shower is on, there's a reason behind it?!”

“I... Sir Sesshomaru had left the room and I thought it was empty. H-he never mentioned you were here. I-I wasn't thinking.”

“That's right! You weren't thinking!”

 

Kagome was flushed. She wanted to cry really hard from embarrassment.

 

“Are you just gonna stand there? Move along dammit!”

“I-I was coming to clean in here...”

“Well, it's occupied! Wait until it isn't!”

“I'm sorry... Sir... Sir...”

“Inuyasha!”

“Sir Inuyasha, I'm really sorry!”

“Just get out!

 

Kagome made her way out of the bathroom. As she was about to leave completely, she was stopped by Inuyasha who was already dressed.

 

“Leaving so soon? You can clean the bathroom now.”

“Actually, I think it's pretty clean...” she said, trying so hard not to cry.

 

The maid could already feel the tears form and stream down her rosy cheeks. Her voice was cracking and shaking everytime she spoke.

 

“Damn maid, why the tears?!”

“Kagome! My name is Kagome!” she suddenly snapped, becoming slightly angry herself.

“Fine, whatever! Kagome then, why the tears?”

“I'm not crying... What makes you think I'm crying?”

 

The two were atleast a good ten feet apart. It was pretty hard to noticed little tears from that distance.

 

“If word hasn't spread, I'm a half demon. I got good smelling. Right now the room has a salty scent, the scent of tears.”

“Ah...” was all the could answer.

“So answer my question! Why the tears?”

“No reason. Forget it. I'll come and clean your room later this evening. I'm terribly sorry I disturbed your morning Sir Inuyasha.” Kagome softly said, leaving the room and closing the door behind her.

 

The young girl pressed the button to the elevator going down. As the doors opened, Miroku was there to greet her.

 

“Hello there Kagome. Going to take your break?”

“Yeah... Ground floor please,” she asked sadly.

“Are you okay? You sound sad.”

“First day on the job is getting to me I think.”

“Ah, I understand. Don't let it bother you. You will find a way to manage and get used to it. Well, this is the ground floor! Have a good day Kagome!”

“Thanks Miroku!”

 

Kagome stepped out of the elevator and made her way to the back office. She was suddenly stopped in the lobby by the manager.

 

“Kagome, have you done both rooms I assigned you?”

“I… I only did Sir Koga's room, Sir Naraku. Something happened in Sir Tounga's room and I thought I could go and clean it later.”

“You are deciding when to clean their rooms without my permission?”

“I'm sorry Sir, there was an accident in Sir Tounga's room.”

“What kind of accident?” Naraku asked, becoming quite curious.

 

Just then, Inuyasha was walking by and heard the conversation Kagome and Naraku were having.

 

“It's none of your business Naraku!” the half demon answered, glaring evilly at the black haired man.

“Ah Sir Inuyasha! I was just wondering why your room wasn't cleaned when I had assigned your room to this young lady. She is not doing her job properly!”

“Oh get a life you asshole! Even maids need a break!”

“I'm sorry Sir, I was just making sure you had the necessary services.”

“No... You were wondering if my father had the necessary services. He is so blind, he doesn't realize you are using him to get millions of dollars from his pocket.”

“That is not the case Sir Inuyasha. The Tokyo Hill Hotel tries to offer their customers the best services and your father happens to want the best for his sons and him.

“Ahh, ahh, atchoo!” Inuyasha blurted, faking his sneeze. “I'm sorry, I'm just allergic to bullshit!”

 

At that moment, Naraku was rudely insulted. During the whole time, Kagome was still there, standing near the two men, feeling trapped.

 

“Well, I have nothing further to add,” Naraku said looking at the maid. “you may go and have your break.”

“Thank you Sir Naraku,” Kagome answered, bowing in front of Inuyasha.

 

The young girl quickly left the two men standing and it wasn't long until Inuyasha walked away as well.

 

Kagome walked to the back office and put her head against the wall, sliding down to the floor. She could feel her tears stream down her pale face. At that moment, Sango came in for her break as well.

 

“Kagome? What's wrong? Did something happen?”

 

All Kagome could do was shake her head slowly and she covered her face with her hands.

 

“Sweetie, talk to me. What happened?”

 

Kagome still couldn't talk she was overwhelmed.

 

“You wanna go home?”

 

The young girl shook her head, meaning yes.

 

“Okay, I'll go talk to Sir Naraku. Wait here!”

 

Sango walked out of the back office and went to find Naraku. After about five minutes, she came back.

 

“Okay, let's go!”

 

Kagome lifted her head, looking at Sango in a little shock.

 

“We can go?” she asked, her voice cracking.

“I told Sir Naraku that you weren't feeling well and that I would escort you home. He's giving me a couple of hours at home though I will have to come back for a night shift.”

“I'm sorry!”

“It's okay, more money! I'm not complaining. C'mon, let's go change!”

 

The girls both made their way to the bathrooms and changed into their regular clothes. They left the building and took the bus to get to Sango's apartment.

 

“Can I fix you something to eat? Something to drink?” Sango kindly asked.

“No, thank you.”

“So explain to me what happened earlier.”

“I was cleaning Sir Koga's room and he was talking to me in a way I didn't like. I was about to leave the room and he held me back. I was sure he was going to hit me or something...”

“Customers aren't allowed to hurt employees. Especially maids!”

“Well I was sure he was going to anyways. Then, I went to Sir Tounga's room and there was Sir Sesshomaru who was leaving to run an errand. I figured there was only the bed sheets that needed to be changed and a good scrub in the bathroom. I decided to clean the bathroom first since it takes a longer time to finish and I heard the shower was on. I thought I was alone in the room so I pulled the curtain to turn off the water and I...”

“And? And what?”

“I saw Sir Inuyasha, taking a shower.”

“You saw him naked?”

“I…I only did for a split second. Then he started yelling at me and wanted me to get out of the bathroom. I was stumbling all over. I wanted to leave but he stopped me, starting to call me names and yell at me some more.”

“My poor Kagome, you should know customers can be mean and very rude. It must be hard on you on the first day of work...

“It is...”

“So, you actually saw Sir Inuyasha naked? Was he big?”

“Sango! I don't know! It's not like I planned to see him like that. It was an accident!”

“You realize all the girls will be jealous when they find out.”

“Oh please don't tell them. I don't need this.”

“Okay, I won't.”

“But, aren't you jealous?”

“Me? Why would I be jealous when I have Miroku?”

“You're dating Miroku? The liftman?”

“Oh I see you met him!”

“Yeah, I did. He's quite a gentleman. Why didn't you tell me?”

“It never came to mind. Listen, you had a rough morning. How `bout you take it easy for the afternoon and come we'll both go back to finish in the evening. Does that sound okay to you?”

“I guess...”

“It will give you time to relax and decompress.”

“Okay.”

 

Both girls sat in the bedroom and talked about their lives on their beds. They watched a but of T.V. and ate supper. As it was reaching six o'clock, it was time to head back to the hotel. They grabbed their purses and left the building. As they entered the hotel building, they changed back in their maid outfits and continued their assignments.

 

“Okay, if anything happens Kagome, come back and find me.”

“I will Sango, thanks!”

 

As the young girl was making her way to the elevator, she was stopped by Naraku.

 

“Don't begin taking habits of leaving the hotel building when you please. I gave you a chance, don't screw it up!” said the black haired man, walking away almost instantly.

 

The maid didn't say anything. She just bowed and walked to the elevator, pressing the up button.

 

“Well, good evening Kagome. Where are you heading?”

“The seventh, please. So I hear you and Sango are going out?”

“Indeed, you know who Sango is?”

“Actually, she is a childhood friend of mine.”

“Really? She is a wonderful woman. I'm glad that a friendly woman like you is friends with her! Well, seventh floor! Have a good evening Kagome!”

“You have good evening as well Miroku!”

 

The maid walked out of the elevator and made her way to room 405. She didn't want to go and clean in that room but she knew she had to.

 

“House keeping!”

 

Instead of hearing Koga yell out to come in, he opened the door himself greeting Kagome in a seducing way.

 

“I've been waiting for you all day Kagome! There are a lot of things to be picked up off the floor.”

“I-I'll get to it then.”

 

“Just ignore everything he says and I will be out of here faster!” she thought, supporting herself.

 

Indeed when Kagome walked in the room, the floor was covered with clothes and belongings.

 

“It's as if he made a mess on purpose!” she screamed in her head, finding the room unbelievably disgusting.

 

She began picking stuff up and making the room look spotless. Koga was sitting on his armchair as usual, watching the maid do her work. Kagome tried as hard as possible to ignore him.

 

After a good half hour picking all the stuff off the floor and giving the bathroom a good scrub, Kagome began to feel hot and sweaty. Koga took a few seconds to sniff the air and was already getting aroused.

 

“Tell me Kagome, I heard a few rumors earlier today that you caught the mutt in his shower?” Koga asked, curious to hear her answer.

“Mutt? I-I don't know what you're talking about...”

“Don't play stupid with me, the guy next door! Inuyasha? The silver haired guy?

“Oh him!” exclaimed Kagome, trying to play along. “Yeah well, no I didn't catch anybody in their shower...”

“You're lying through your teeth and you know it too.”

“What is it with you people? Another demon I suppose?”

“Wolf demon! And yes, I have the same sense as any demon. Even that damn mutt!”

“It sounds like you don't quite like him...”

“Don't like? I hate him! Despise him! He's been my rival ever since we became business men. He thinks his companies are more expensive and more powerful then mine. That's a lie! He has his brother and father to help him manage those things. Atleast I work alone! You should come and see my masterpieces. I'd be glad to show you my work!

 

Kagome didn't like chatting with her customers. If you want to chat, do it when you're not on your shift!

 

“Well, I've finished cleaning your room.” Kagome finally said.

“That's a good girl. You'll be back tomorrow right?” Koga asked.

“I kinda have to...”

“I look forward to it! I'm glad we had our little talk! It is the perfect opportunity to get to know eachother! Next time you come, I'll want to know about you!”

“Yes well... Have a nice evening Sir Koga,” Kagome said leaving the room.

 

“Oh, I will!” he thought with an evil smile.

 

Kagome sighed in relief. She was finally out of that room! She had one more room to clean and she was done for the night. She walked over to Inuyasha's door and knocked on it.

 

“House keeping!”

 

The door opened. It was Inuyasha.

 

“Well, look what the cat dragged in!”

“I'm just here to finish cleaning your room since I didn't have a chance this morning.”

“Yeah whatever.”

 

Kagome needed to be sure about something.

 

“Is there anybody in the shower or bathroom?”

“No, but you could sure use one. You reek!”

“I bed your pardon?”

 

Kagome was insulted. If that stupid wolf demon hadn't made her work so much, she wouldn't be as tired and smelly.

 

“Just go clean and lock the door behind you when you leave!”

 

The young girl ignore the half demon and went to change the bed sheets she never touched.

 

“They're only three people! Why does each bed have to be a king size?!” she wondered.

 

That alone took her an hour. Next was the bathroom. She walked in and began washing the tub, scrubbing the floor, washing the toilet and sink and finished off with the walls.

 

Kagome was beat. She was so tired, she wasn't sure if she could make it out the door before passing out.

 

“Hang in there girl, I'll be in my bed soon.”

 

The maid walked out of the bathroom and made her way to the entrance door until she was suddenly held back when she heard Inuyasha talk.

 

“You finished?” he asked, working on his papers at his desk.

“Yes...”

“I want to check what you've done first before you leave.”

 

The half demon walked to the bedrooms finding each bed sheets changed and made. He then walked to the bathroom and checked every little detail there was.

“You missed a spot!” he yelled. “Clean it up!”

 

Kagome looked at her watch indicating 10:47.

 

“But Sir, I'm really tired.”

“Like I care! Clean it up I said!”

 

Kagome took out her cloth and scrubbed that little spot on the floor. It took her fifteen minutes to remove it.

 

“That's better! I don't give tips to anyone who doesn't do their job properly! Here!” he said, giving her a twenty dollar bill.

“T-Thank you Sir!” she answered, amazed.

 

It would have taken her all day to make that kind of tipping at the restaurant she used to work in. Now, she works in one room and gets paid triple in tip!

 

Kagome reached for the doorknob and let herself out, locking the door. She walked to the elevator and Miroku was there to greet her, as usual.

 

“Wow, you look dead Kagome!”

“Yeah, it was a hard day today. Hopefully my paycheck will be big!”

“I'm sure it will. Ground floor! Have a good night Kagome!”

“You too Miroku!”

 

Kagome made her way to the back office. Sango had just finished as well.

 

“Hey sweetie, you're done?”

“Yup. You too?”

“Oh yeah. C'mon Kagome, let's get changed and get out of here!”

 

The two girls quickly changed and took the bus home. When they arrived, they desperately needed to take a shower.

 

“Damn, I don't think we'll have enough water for the both of us.” Sango wondered.

“Well, we could always take it together. No harm done there...”

“Good idea.”

 

Sango and Kagome removed their clothes and walked in the shower. They took turns washing their hair and body and switched every few times to rinse. Finally at 12:56, they could go to bed.

 

They put on their pyjamas and drifted in a deep sleep. What a hard day it was for both girls!
