A sense of foreboding clung to the air as the eery sound of icy rain hitting the pavement echoed over the sleeping city. It was the middle of June, but the weather had drastically changed seemingly overnight. She could feel the wind rushing around her as she forced her motorcycle to its limits. She was uneffected by the rain, the coldness was a comfort to her as she raced to save another life. In her heart she felt the sharp pain, the closing of another portal into her world. She raced past the familiar shrine, and stopped just before the large gates which led into the forest. She lept off of her cycle and broke out into a run, praying she wasn't too late. Darkness surrounded her as she searched for any signs of the girl, or of the creature. Looking down, she saw light emitting from the ancient amulet which hung around her neck, never to be removed. She clutched it as she ran further into the woods, struggling to block out the oncoming visions. She didn't have to run far, for right in front of her lay a motionless girl, on the brink of death. Instantly she knew that the girl wasn't human, she recognized the pointed shape of the ears, the pale skin, the tattoo on her right arm. She was a priestess from her own realm, a sacred soul. Standing above, hidden by the shadows was a vile creature from her realm. She tried to block out the screams of the souls trapped inside of it, the familiar voices of her people. She stood still as her aura flared up in anger and disgust. She could feel the power rising in her soul as light engulfed the woods, when the light dissapeared the creature was gone. For a moment she hesitated before rushing to the young girl's aid. She lifted the girl's head into her lap, listening to her labored breathing, and her slowing heart beat. She caressed the young girl's cheek as tears welled up inside her, but she wouldn't let them fall. A glimmer caught her eye, causing her to notice something tucked into the folds of the girl's cloak. She moved gently, so as to not disturb the dying girl, and removed a small, silver box with intricate designs on it. A chill ran down her spine as she recognized what it was she held in her strong hands.

"Priest...ess."

She looked the girl's face when she heard the wispy words, spoken in her native tongue which seemed foriegn to her. Her gaze was met by two deep, purple eyes that showed with kindness and grace. A gentle yet strong soul lived within, which caused her pain to know that it soon would leave the world of the living.

"Yes?" She responded.

"Why? Why did you...leave us?"

She winced at the accusing words leaving the girl's lips. She hadn't left her people of her own will, she had been forced to run...like a coward. Guilt had eaten away at her heart for years, and she could feel it starting back up again. The young girl gasped as the priestess stared into her eyes with the rare golden and violet eyes she was known for.

"I had to, so you could know peace."

"We never knew peace, only death when you left."

A single tear left the priestess's eyes as the girl closed her own eyes. The priestess felt the girl's soul leave her body and that was when she released the unshed tears she had held at bay. As the hot tears streamed down her face, she sensed him approaching. But she remained still, her body had suddenly become stiff as she recieved the dreaded vision. She was seeing what the girl had seen just before she died.

They ran through the thick forest, trying to reach the portal in time. Behind them they heard the agonizing scream s of everyone they loved as they were murdered. The girlstumbled over a dead root, anda young man hurried to help her up as her hand flew to the amulet around her neck. They were close to the portal, she could feel the amulet pulsating. The sound of their enemy approaching quickly came to their ears. He looked down at the woman he loved and saw the fear in her violet eyes. His heart broke at the thought of her being captured by the disgusting beasts that hunted them.

"The priestess, she's escaping!!"

She felt the pull of the portal as it came into view, but they were the only two left that were capable of seeing it. . They were just a few steps from the portal as the demons approached them. He threw the woman he loved behind him as he drew his sword.

"Get out of here now! Save yourself!"

She stared at him as he fought the demons, but his powers were dwindling fast. She knew there were too many for him to fight alone, but she also knew she had to survive. She could use her powers, but since there was no moon, they were limited.

"Get through the portal!"

She winced at the concern and anger in his voice, but she didn't budge from her spot. He turned to her and waved his hand fiercly. The power from his body shot at her, sending her flying through the air, straight into the portal. Just as hte portal began to close, she saw one of the demons rip his soul from his body. She would have screamed, had the shock not been too great for her.

She snapped into reality as he placed a hand on her shoulder, causing her to gasp for air. Her body trembled as the vision left her mourning for the young couple who had lost their lives.

"Was she from your realm?" He asked coldly.

"Yes, Sesshomaru, she was."
