Invasion of the Wolves

No, I own no IY charries. Only Su and Melataru.

Melataru sighed as she watched her friend, Su, look towards the festival going on in town. The town was alive with lights and the sound of laughter wafted up to the hills to meet Melataru's pointed wolf ears. Su looked towards Melataru, her eyes pleading to go to the festival. Melataru didn't want to be among those who would harm her, but Su was her best friend. And, as a best friend, it was Melataru's suty to sometimes do what she didn't want to. Nodding her head in silent agreement, Melataru smiled as Su took off towards the festival. Melataru followed at her own pace, her eyes scanning along the pages of her newest book. Soon, she arrived at the festival, the bright lights dancing and bouncing off her raven black and midnight blue hair. Her brilliant purple eyes never left the book into which she had buried herself as she dodged people and small children. Melataru closed the book and wandered over to a patch of grass and folded her legs under her, scanning the crowds for Su. Spotting her up ahead, Melataru watched as Su looked at a bunch of silk kimonos on display. Shaking her head, Melataru looked back on a memory long since buried.

Melataru, at this time five years of age, walked through a festival, her eyes wide at everything she saw and smelt. Closing her eyes and following a particularly enticing scent, Melataru soon came to a man cooking meat. Melataru sighed as she inhaled the scent deeply. Hearing her sigh, hte man looked up and yelled. He stood quickly, grabbing a thick piece of wood. "Demon!" He yelled as he ran towards Melataru, who stood frozen in fear. She braced her self for the pain, and when it came, it was earth shattering. The wood was brought down at the base of her neck with such force it knocked Melataru to the ground. Thankfully, her world was soon consumed in darkness as she passed out.

Melataru yawned. "I'd almost forgot about that..." Melataru trailed off. The man from almost ten years ago, the one who'd first opened her eyes to the cruelty that would become her life was standing a few feet off. Standing, Melataru sniffed the air to be sure it was him. That's when he smelt it. Wolves. Lots of wolves. They ran through the festival, tearing down booths and eating everybit off food they could find. Melataru started to worry. What if they hurt a human? Melataru may be demon, but she was also human. Melataru sniffed the air once more and sought the source of the wolves. Pushing past a few people running her way, Melataru found a wolf demon standing in the center of a ring of wolves. "I was told there were jewel shards here, but I havent found one!" He complained as he lay a hand on a wolf.
Melataru cocked her head to one side. She had never seen another wolf demon, let alone a male. She advanced on him, curious at what his face looked like. He was, after all, facing away from her. "You there!" She called out to the wolf prince. He turned quickly and looked at Melataru with mild interest. "A she-wolf..." He murmered, his mind drifting back to the slaughter of his pack and the she- wolves. "What do you think you're doing?" Melataru questioned, trying to keep her voice normal. The excitement at finding someone like her, and some one so handsom, was almost overwhelming. Kouga arched and eyebrow.
"Surely you understand more than anyone my intentions of feeding my pack?" Melataru growled. "Can't say as I do, I'm only a pathetic hanyou after all." Kouga took a step back. "A hanyou? But you don't look it in the least. Hn, if you are a hanyou then you'd be wise to show me respect!" Kouga growled, this girl who'd revealed herself to be a hanyou sure was courageous.
"No! I won't respect you! Not when you let your wolves do things such as this and ask one to respect you for it! Hell no! When you show me a respectable deed, then, and only then will I think about showing respect to you!" The wolves had all gathered behind Kouga and had their hackles raised. Melataru stuck out her tongue at all the wolves. "Oh hush up!" She muttered to them.
Kouga growled menacingly at Melataru before grabbing her hand and pulling her to him. "You're a hanyou and hanyous are simply undeserving of life, I am being gracious by not feeding you to my wolves at this moment." Kouga looked down at Melataru and noticed she was blushing wildly. Kouga arched an eyebrow in confusion. "What?" He questioned. Melataru's face became chibi like and her head lulled backwards. "Holding my hand...." She said ditzily, then started giggling.
Kouga sweatdropped. "What of it?" Kouga asked. Melataru's face returned to normal. "Nothing... nothing at all." Melataru answered, a blush still evident on her face. Kouga rleased Melataru and she fell to the ground. "whatever..." He said before starting to walk away. He only got a step away beofer something pulled him down to earth. "What the hell?" He shouted as he looked behind him, only to find Melataru clinging to his foot.
"Don't leave!!! I've never met a wolf demon! You can't just leave me here!" Kouga sighed. "I hafta leave!" Melataru started pretending to cry. "No! Just talk to me for a while!" Kouga's expression softened as he looked at Melataru. "Fine, one hour is all you've got."
