“Okay Mama. What The HELL is going on?” Inquired an irate Kagome from between clenched teeth. Her mother didn't answer, just walked to the kitchen and started water for tea. Motioning for her daughter to take a seat as she the same. Kagome watched her mother amazed, she had never seen the older woman look so tired she had always assumed her mother had boundless energy and cheerfulness.

“When word of what happened at your school spread,” Mrs. H. began brining Kagome out of her musings. “People realized what had happened. Only a few elderly people at first, then more and more. Since a couple of days after you left we have been busy every day. Souta helps when he doesn't have school or homework but he had to stop going soccer.” That statement hung in the air, her mother wouldn't say it but Kagome knew he was being bothered because of what she had done.

“Oh Mama. I'm so sorry.” Kagome's voice broke, she hadn't meant to cause problems for her family.

“I'll fix this, I promise.”

`Though I don't know how yet.' The water finished and Mrs. H. poured them both a cup of tea and brought it to the table.

“I had an idea about that. If you were to announce that you were leaving for awhile to the people outside and let them get a look at you then you can go back through the well. It might also be wise to only come back at night for a while.” Kagome seemed a little sad at what her mother was saying and being perceptive Mrs. H. noticed this. She stood up and hugged her daughter tightly.

“I wish you could stay but this is too much for Gramps and I, even with Souta's help. This has gained us some fame so with all the extra people who'll come here on holidays we'll do better than we have before. So see it's not all bad. I give it a month and you can start making a few daytime appearances as well.” Mrs. H. chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. Kagome nodded her assent.

“It can't be any worse than some of the villages in the past who have found out I'm a miko. I'll go change now. Mrs. H. recognized it for the falsely cheery front it was. She hated it had to be this way, but….
`Gramps may have enjoyed telling his stories at first but its beginning to strain his heart.'

Upstairs Kagome dug her ceremonial clothes from her closet.

`I know why it has to be this way but it doesn't make me feel any better. I was always so worried about Inuyasha being found out, but I never thought about what would happen if I was. I'm happy I can retreat through the well though.'

Once changed she went down the stairs and out the front door. When she got outside she was immediately bombarded by people. People, who wanted blessings, cures, to see or touch her.

By the time everyone had gone she was so exhausted she could barely stand. Looking around at the darkened sky she realized that night had fallen without her noticing. She started towards the house trying to decide what she wanted more food, a bath or sleep. Getting only a few steps before she stumbled on tired legs. Before she could even gasp she found herself being pickup bridal style.

“I never knew humans were still this bad.”

“Inuyasha? How long have you been here?”

“An hour. I came because that damn Shippo wouldn't shut up.” Kagome couldn't tell because it was so dark but she thought he blushed a bit. When they got inside Inuyasha brought Kagome into the kitchen knowing she had to eat something.

“How did you guys deal with it? I'm exhausted.”

“Yeah. What's going on?” Inuyasha piped up trying to figure out why the shrine was suddenly so popular. Mrs. H. explained the situation to him while he and Kagome ate the ramen she made for them.

“So that means you'll be staying for a long time right?” InuDemon was smirking on the inside, Hanyou was content and InuHuman was doing a happy dance. Suddenly Mrs. H. choked on a gasp and Souta shouted, “Cool!” Inuyasha looked around confused trying to see what was wrong when the older woman reached out to touch his check. He jerked back.

“Its okay Mama.” Kagome said. “We have lots to tell you.”

“I'll say. Why do you have stripes?” Kagome launched into an explanation of what happened with Naraku and the jewel.

“After Inuyasha rescued me we ran into Rin, that's his brother's ward, and saved her. Sesshomaru also offered us a job. I was coming back here to tell you but forgot in all the excitement. It's alright that I have to go back for now because I don't really belong here anymore.” Kagome continued slightly sad. “But I'll come back to visit lots. I still love you all, and I'll miss you very much. But don't worry about me, Inuyasha's there to protect me.” She finished, beaming at the demon. All sides still in harmony he responded,

“Keh. Say good-bye and lets get you back to the old hag's place so you can rest. Myoga's there so he can start to teach you guys tomorrow.” After many hugs, Mrs. H. even had one for Inuyasha. The two of them left to go back home.

Blessings:

May you have the hindsight to know where you've been, the foresight to know where you're going and the insight to know when you're going too far.

May you live long, Die happy, And rate a mansion in heaven.

May your doctor never earn a dollar out of you and may your heart never give out. May the ten toes of your feet steer you clear of all misfortune, and before you're much older, may you hear much better toasts than this.
